walzav29
San Diego (-1½) at CincinnatiThe Bengals need this win. They still have road games against New Orleans, Indianapolis and Denver. If they can't beat a good team at home when they need it, winning on the road against good teams is out of the question.Bengals 23, Chargers
bengalboomer7
I thought last week was a must win, so this one should be obvious. Gotta win games at home

I had it last Sunday after they lost. They're gonna get this win.I think for me alot has to do with I think that by admitting and realizing their not the same team as last year (Palmer addressing his knee, Jackson and Adams admitting their hurt, etc) they can take off some of the pressure they feel that they have to be perfect. It is what it is. The Bengals are 4-4 and they know they have to win.Bengals 28 Chargers

One that says after the game most of us fans will be saying "They're Baaaaaaaaaaack"

Anyone remember 2002?, Opening Day for us?I remember that game very well, one of the worst games of the Leblow era... Offense couldn't move the ball, D was on the field the whole game. Gave up 242 rushing yards and looked pathetic doing so, 34-6 L
derekshank
It would be great to get an easy win against San Diego... but I just don't see it. Yes... the Chargers are having LB problems, but their offensive strengths are what our defense struggles with the most. They have the best RB in the league, who is one of the best catching the ball on screen passes too. They have the best pass-catching TE in the league, which tends to be our achilles heel in most every game. And they have a albeit young... but mobile and acurate QB. I don't see us holding them under 20 points... and I think we'll have another game where we struggle to get our offense on the field. But you never know. The last few games where I've felt really confident, we've been beaten...(Baltimore, Atlanta, Tampa) but the last time I was concerned, we won (Carolina). This team defies reason, so I'll spare you any score prediction. I just hope we win.
TJJackson
I can see them battling for a wildcard spot only if they get this winDivision championship is out of the question atm...Ravens have in essnce a 3 game lead (if one includes the first tiebreaker, and I do)Said another way - I think they're pretty much done if they don't win this game. dez0923
I don't think the Chargers are THAT good. . I think they are a fairly good team who has been helped by their schedule. . . I see Cincy taking this 17-14.

ShulaSteakhouse
All I know is Chucky needs to do something different on 3rd down...different strategy, alignment, philosophy, something. Get to the QB for one. This goes for the offense too - never seen a good offense misfire on so many 3rd and makeables in my life.Lance's stat from his blog eludes to this:Carson has completed a 3rd down pass for a first down just 34% of the time this year....26 of his 77 third down passes got the first down. That ranks him 15th in AFC and 28th in NFC28th in the NFL!!!! That's horrid! Inexcusable. Protection problems, Carson's problem, or both, get it fixed for crying out loud. And Chad needs to figure out what it is he is doing wrong:Chad Johnson has been thrown to 77 times (9.6 per game) He is T-3rd in AFC and 6th in NFL in times being targeted.TJ has been thrown to (9.7 per game...playing two fewer games)Carson has completed a pass thrown to Chad 52% of the time this yearCarson has completed a pass thrown to TJ 67% of the time this year
walshfan
I keep harping about run the damn ball... If it works it'll keep the blitzers away from Carson, keep LT off the field and keep our defense from being exposed.. We can run it on this team with the guys up front doing what they do best. Will it be easy? no but the schemes they've been using has not worked so lets try something new.Bengals 24 Chargers 20 if they run run run and then hit them with some deep balls.Chargers 27 Bengals 17 if they use the same ole same ole offense we've seen week in week out.Come on Brat change it up ! fattyjay
I think defensively we need to obviously key on LT, but also take away the middle of the field (i.e. Gates) on passing downs. The starting San Diego receivers don't have a TD between them. Gates has 4, and LT has 12! I say let the corners play man on the outside and give extra help in the middle. The Browns held them to 3-10 on third downs, maybe we can get our defense off the field this game.
