walshfan
Chargers have as many injuries as we do..Cant we just run the damn ball agasint them with Rudi carrying 30 plus times. It would open up the passing game and wear them down and keep our defense fresh. We have the road graders for it why not use them to their advantage...We control the clock this week instead of LT and Co. jonf45uk
are we still unbeaten when rudi runs 25+times??if so, it supports your theory, and takes pressure away from carson.
agreen_112
I think so. I think we shouldn't even attempt to pass until 3rd down for at least the first 3-4 series...
derekshank
We didn't go away from the run against Baltimore. We simply didn't have the ball often enough. We ran the ball 22 times and threw it 26 times. That is pretty balanced. What did it get us? Is anyone telling me that if we had thrown the ball 22 times and Rudi had run it 26 times we would have won? I didn't think so.There is a lot more that goes into a win than Rudi touching the ball 26 times. Much of that stat requires a lead, and an offense that is attempting to run down the clock. If you don't have those two factors going for you, running the ball time and time again will just get you another loss.
CBin2k7
I think so. I think we shouldn't even attempt to pass until 3rd down for at least the first 3-4 series...Running the ball is not as simple as you think. So you run the ball on first down, and get stuffed for 1 or 2 yards. Then you are in 2nd and long, run again and get 1 or 2 yards, then you are in 3rd and medium. The Bengals absolutely need to stay out of 3rd and more than 5 in this game. I agree you want to run the ball, but this is a game where they should pass to set up the run. That is also easier said than done.

Whether that means throwing longer more often or trying to keep the clock moving/tire out defence by running, i don't know. i just hope marvin etc come up with something quickly!!personally i'd like to see them air it out a bit more, but with palmer getting so little time its just not going to happen. BengalszoneBilly
Cant we just run the damn ball this week! Not unless the offensive line starts opening some holes to run the ball through. There's more to it than just handing the rock to Rudi, and saying it's all yours pal!

I'm pretty sure if simply running the ball at least 25 times a game would = automatic winning - someone would've figure it out by now, long ago, and the game would be much different. BengalPimp
What we need to do is come out on the first play of the game and GO DEEP....A 60 yard pass on the first snap, if completed will get Fire them up...Even if we dont complete it, that will keep the Charger defense Honest, at least for the next few series, if they choose to run Rudi after that, it will be much easier because they will be looking out for the Deep ball, and not put 8 men in the box to stop Rudi, giving him a little more room to run, either way, if you get them on their heels either with a Long completion or attempting it, they wont play quite so close to the line of scrimmage and wont bring their safeties up to stop the run, they'll leave them back to protect the pass..... For cryin out loud BRES, see what the Chargers are giving you, and make adjustments, of they play the pass...RUN, if they play the run, then PASS, there is no way they should be effective in taking both of those options away from us......AND I'M BEGGING YOU....PLEASE....RUN A TRICK PLAY EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE.....CONFUSE THE OPPOSING DEFENSE....YOUR PLAY CALLING HAS BECOME WAY TOO PREDICTABLE
