Stripes
I honestly think all the team-building developmental talk is unecessary... There are teams that go from consistently bad to consistently good in short periods of time (i.e. the Bears). For me, it's much more simple. If Rich Braham doesn't get hurt, and Levi doesn't get hurt, and Dexter doesn't get hurt, and Odell/Henry don't get suspended... this team is 6-2 or 7-1.The Bengals have been forced to play the season at 60-70% 2005 strength. redsbengalsbucks
Some of these fair weather fans sound as if they are Black and Urine fans instead of Die-Hard Bengals fans.Bengals fans do not give up on a team because of a few loses!!!! Had that been the case with me, I'd have never survived the '90's! In Marvin I Trust!!
Bgal
We are lucky that so many teams passed on Marvin Lewis. Considering the tightwad owner we have and the s**tty teams put on the field year after year... after year... Marvin was too good for this team. He took over a major challenge and made this team respectable again. This is not a bad team. This team has a very solid foundation and most of it's skill players signed for the next couple years. This may end up being an off year, but you'll have those. Even the f-ing awesome patriots have those. We're going to be alright in the long run. Hell, this year still has potential. The truth of the matter is, 4-4 is rough on us... where as 5 years ago 4-4 would have been awesome.I'm sure some of you couldn't wait for the Bengals to have a rough patch. Complaining and being negative is all Bengal's fans have been trained to do over the last decade. Last year must have drove you crazy.Marvin Lewis is the answer here and hopefully will continue to be for the next 10-15 years.
MacD BengalFan
I find it interesting that just a few years ago, we were celebrating a .500 season as a major accomplishment. Now the Bengals are once again at .500 and there are people who have thrown in the towel claming the season over. I am as frustrated as all of you, but I will not throw in the towel because the team is 4-4 at the midway point of the season. The Bengals have had only one successfull season in the last 15 and we are acting like a bunch of spoiled Steeler fans. The season is not lost. Unlike the Steelers, the Bengals are still in the playoff hunt.
HairOnFire
In my opinion this isn't a thread where the nuts and bolts of winning or losing are discussed. Instead, the task is simple. Answer the question asked in the thread title. Or if you prefer..."Is the honeymoon over?" I answered yes even though my own faith in Marvin is unshaken, and if that sounds confusing, well....my reasoning is simple enough. Long before this team lost a single game this season about half of BengalNation watched the latest NFL draft and then rather promptly took a warm crap in their pants. Worst draft ever? What if Frostee raped your mother? It's no longer safe to drive on the streets....or go boating on the water. Mark my words, this will be a distraction if only because I am so willing to be distracted. Let's not kid ourselves, there are plenty of fans here who threw Marvin under the bandwagon long before the whistle blew. The honeymoon has been over for months.
