futurebengal08
Sorry if this question has already been asked, but who do we go with at wr? Henry and Kelley are out. At qb, anthony wright is out. Do we keep Kenny Watson in the lineup or deactivate to make room for chris perry? Is there any chance we activate reggie mcneal? Whatever marvin does will be interesting, but I can't wait til Sunday so tell me what you think.
Stripes
I think we dump Busing for Perry, activate McNeal in K-dub's spot, and that's it.

With no Henry, no Tab, not Washington... that leaves only Chatman and McNeal on the roster to be our WR's after Chad and Housh. My guess though is that we're going to see Chris Perry line up at WR a lot more than McNeal. Q: Could Chris Perry be one of those?ML: Chris Perry could be one of those. He has a chance to be cleared for action on Wednesday. Q: Will that be the first time you will be ready to make a decision on him?ML: That’s the first time we have to. We don’t practice again until then. Can't wait to see Perry play sunday! Who Dey!!! derekshank
Can't wait to see Perry play sunday! Who Dey!!! Yep. I've been as critical of Perry as anyone here (well... I've been a bit softer than HairOnFire), but there is no doubt that having him line up as a WR will be an obvious mismatch on whoever they have trying to cover him. He's shown the ability to make tough catches, so if he knows how to run a route, he'll be good for it. What I see as the most dangerous possibility fr him are the quick lateral passes where the WR simply has to make a guy miss, and get a lot of yards after the catch. He might not be very durable... but there isn't a player on this roster who can make a guy miss better than Chris Perry... and if he can get into the open field on one of those... well, I wouldn't want to be the safety forced to make that tackle. I love Marvin interviews. This could easily have been the next exchange: "Q. Marvin, are you thinking of playing 11 men on offense against the Panthers?" "A. That's a decision that we'll have to make at game time. The rules allow us to play up to 11. We may go with 9 or 10."I swear, his press conferences are about as informative as those retarded Coors Light ads. No leaks on this coaching staff! ShulaSteakhouse
I will say it again. Demote/deactivate Keiwan Ratliff and demote Tory James. Promote Greg Brooks and Jonathan Joseph.Give Ahmad another start at MLB.
derekshank
I will say it again. Demote/deactivate Keiwan Ratliff and demote Tory James. Promote Greg Brooks and Jonathan Joseph.Give Ahmad another start at MLB.I'm all for Ahmad Brooks starting at MLB for the rest of the season. He seemed to play strong, and will only get better... and he's more explosive than just about anybody else on this defense (except maybe Madieu who seems like he's been a harder hitter than ever). The thing we need more than anything right now are guys who tackle well. Joseph and Ahmad both fit this bill. I've said it before, and I think right now that Simmons at WSLB, Brooks at MLB, and Jeanty at SSLB is the best we can do right now, and I think it would be pretty explosive and effective. As for Greg Brooks... I haven't seen him much. Is he a sure tackler? He's pretty small... so I doubt he's as good a tackler as Ratliff at this point. Say what you want about Ratliff... but he's a sure tackler. derekshank
In reference to giving Ahmad another start at MLB, Hobson wrote this. http://bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5593Brooks just doesn’t have the experience in there right now. The guy in the middle is charged with calling the signals and you can’t have any hesitation in the center of your defense.Yes, the Bengals survived with a rookie middle linebacker in Odell Thurman last year, but he had the benefit of the spring camps after the draft. Since Brooks was drafted in the July supplemental draft, he had no on-field experience with the club until training camp and he had no football during the spring. And Lewis didn’t have a lot of fun with all the mistakes Thurman made last year. They exasperated Lewis as much as Thurman’s off-field problems and I think he came out of it more convinced than ever that giving up some big plays for stability isn’t a bad thing.Of course, Lewis could do exactly what you suggest and put Brooks in there and let Simmons call the signals from the weak side like Caleb Miller did in Tampa. But he indicated not on Monday and, plus, that puts Landon Johnson on the bench and that can’t happen.Okay... I agree with everything he said until that last comment. Why can't putting Landon on the bench happen? I think the best chance we have at winning right now would be having an impact guy like Brooks in the middle, with a seasoned vet like Simmons making the calls from the weak-side.Landon is serviceable... but he's not a game-changer. He's servicable. I like him, but it's not like benching Carson Palmer for a rookie here. After what I saw on Sunday, I want Brooks on the field as much as possible.Am I putting too much stock into what we saw from a rookie in just one game started? Yeah, probably... but I was impressed with how well he tackled, and how quickly he was able to get to the ball carrier. That's what I want in a LB. The man bows down to no one in the press. And what you just said, DC, is hilarious!!! We could play 9 or 10! That is exactly what makes me love listening to Marvin. When a coach is confident in his planning and preparation, we will always have a winner. He doesn't feel the need to defend himself or his decisions. He has a tight football club and staff and the press aren't members. That is what I take from the information-lacking conferences.
Kazkal
Landon cant be on the bench why the F not?o_O you put your "best players on field" like freaking hobson said they can let brian make the calls from weak side.
Bungle in the Jungle
Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression that after you activated someone from the practice squad that they had to remain activated for a minimum of three games (weeks?) before they could be deactivated again. Therefore Busing is going be around for a couple more weeks at least.Jethro

bengalskyspy
We are going with 3 WR's this Sunday--- CJ, TJ, and AC. That's it. Essentially Perry is the #4. Probably to add depth at OL or LB corps.
