derekshank
http://frontier.cincinnati.com/blogs/bengals/ http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5585Simmons woke up this morning with a neck problem... so Caleb Miller's going to start at WSLB, Ahmad Brooks at MLB, and Landon Johnson at SSLB, and Dexter is officially out. If Tampa can't run the ball on us, it's going to be their own damn fault. We've got back-ups at every 4 important run stopping positions.John Busing, Andre Frazier, and Marcus Wilkins are our only available depth at LB right now. What a freaking mess. At least we'll get to see what Brooks has got.
ShulaSteakhouse
The injuries are getting to be a bit ridiculous. Ugh.
Ox
Well good grief man. Any more LB injuries and we're f*cked. If tampa can't run the ball on us today it's their own damn fault. Wow.Maybe this will be be emergence of the legacy known as the Ahmad Brooks era.
cincy9275
i am just shaking my head in disbelief . is nicholson's hammy that bad or are they just not playing him ? we sure could use the help . i mean nicholson was considered by many the 2nd best l/b in college last season . up until he got in trouble . there was some who though he was as good aj hawk . nicholson even had more impressive stats than e. sims who was the second l/b drafted . rishipatel
So much for our great LB depth. This is crazy. These backups need to show their worth now. If memory serves, all three of these guys were 3rd rounders, so they need to step up.

AJ is a natural 4-3 MLB, much more so than Brooks IMO. Just another fly in the ointment to make this game more interesting. Personally I'd rather see Landon and Brooks swap spots. But here's to the 3rd rounder LB corps today. Crash the Cadillac.

Caleb needs to play better... and Brooks is a rookie who is behind even for a rookie, since he was drated in the supplemental draft, and he's playing the defense's QB spot. Brooks will certainly be what I'm watching today, because I'd like to see him earn a starting spot, move Simmons back to OLB, and get Jeanty healthy... I think that's our best shot for an explosive defense. This will be an early test for Brooks, and I'm anxious to see him play more than a few downs. Hopefully being thrown into the fire is the kind of thing that brings greatness out in him, because if not... it could be a long day. But so far he's a non-factor, like Frostee, another criminal waste of a pick who's been hurt all year, and is done for the season, with more court troubles ahead.I've never in all my years of watching football have ever seen a team so injury prone and filled with unreliable players on it.We're talking about a team preseason that had the best depth in the NFL, that now, just weeks later, is one of the most depleted and banged up teams in the league, already losing at least 3 players for the year, 2 of them young starters and high round picks.Hate to overreact to Simmons being out one game probably - but it just highlights the fragile situation they are in now, when one more starter gets hurt, it's magnified. Caleb Miller needs to learn how to tackle and hit Rb's today, fast.
