ArmyBengal
I want to start this by saying, if you are or ever have been a fan of Nicholson, you need to jump in front of a speeding bus if you miss this movie !!!The movie got great reviews, but I'm usually leary of anything the critics say is great. The movie was 2 1/2 hours long and I loved every minute of it. The story, the acting, the violence, and the ending I didn't see coming were all great. I'm serious, this might be the best movie I've seen in years !!! Martin Scorsese did an amazing job with this film. I would go back and pay full price to see it the second time !!! Among Nicholson are, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin, and Martin Sheen to name a few and I loved all of their characters !!!Well, I guess this isn't much of a review, but more of me telling you to go check out this flick !!! Not for children and not for those who are sqeemish by any means. I don't want to give anything away, just go see it !!! This is one to own on DVD as it will become a favorite in my collection !!!WHODEY !!!

ArmyBengal
Oh yeah, I also saw "School for Scoundrels" about a week ago. I think Billy Bob Thornton is funny as hell and found this movie pretty amusing as well !!! I would also have paid full price to see this one, but "The Departed" is far FAR better !!!WHODEY !!! Stripes
I'll be fighting an uphill battle trying to like a movie with DiCaprio and Baldwin... but I'll give it a shot.
B24
Can't wait to watch this movie. I'd like to watch it within the next couple weeks.I'll be fighting an uphill battle trying to like a movie with DiCaprio and Baldwin... but I'll give it a shot. DiCaprio has made some really good movies. He gets a bad rap with some people for some reason, but he was great in The Aviator, Gangs of New York even Catch me if you can.Baldwin on the other hand I don't really like. The last movie I liked him in was Team America even though it wasn't really him.
Stripes
Yeah, I agree that DiCaprio isn't all that bad... He's a good actor, but I have a bad taste in my mouth after crappy movies like Titanic or "The Beach" (I think it's called that).Alec Baldwin just drives me insane. He seems like the type that sits in front of the mirror every morning wondering why everybody else is so much less awesome than himself. This movie may actually get me to the theatre, and I hate the theatre so much the last movie I saw there was Stigmata
ArmyBengal
The funny thing is I felt the same way about those same actors for the same reasons and it was those things that made their characters all the better in this movie because it wasn't something I expected from any of them... WHODEY !!!
agreen_112
I'll be fighting an uphill battle trying to like a movie with DiCaprio and Baldwin... but I'll give it a shot. Leo's definitely one of the best actors of his generations, if not all time. He's one of my top 3 fav's. Can't wait to see this film. Scorcese + Leo = Acadamy's. A matter of opinion I suppose. I'll grant he is a good actor sometimes, but I don't think he's anywhere near the kind of distinguishment you mention. Titanic sucked, and he sucked in it. Gilbert Grape or whatever it's called was good, and that's probably the best performance I've seen from him. I never saw Gangs of New York in its entirety, but what I did see was lame, IMO. jditty47
gangs of new york is a good movie. the butchers performance alone should make you want to watch it. leo is a pretty good actor lets face it, even if hes a lil weasely. WhoDey42
I just got back from seeing The Departed. I saw you had a review of it on here, but I didn't want to read it before I saw it. But, I agree with everything you said. You would think if it was 2 1/2 hours long, some parts would drag on and get boring. But that was definatly not the case for this movie. Every minute was intense. The acting was awesome. The whole theater started laughing as soon as they showed Alec Baldwin, but his character was great as well.I definatly second ArmyBengal's suggestion to watch this movie. It is one of the best movies I've seen in years.

agreen_112
This one is right up there on my list with The Usual Suspects. Went to see it last weekend, and I loved it. Everyone in the film was great, including Baldwin. Not one single bore moment in the entire film. I had to take a piss through the whole movie but refused to leave my seat, not even for the free refills. Leo's performance was brilliant, probably one of my fav. roles from him to date. Matt Damon was great, and Jack Nichaulson, are you kidding me, The BEST supporting role I've ever seen him play. This movie gets a 4.5 star rating out of 5.
