agreen_112
If we could bring in a guy like Urlacher, Lynch, S. Rice, ect, ect. to the Bengals defense, who would you be willing to trade on offense? Obviously it wouldn't be Palmer, but what about Housh, CJ, Rudi, or ........ Personally I don't think we're going to improve our Defense by drafting unless we can wait about 5 years. I think really the only way we going to get instant impact is to bring in a couple of A class Vets.

Trades are not going to be the way we fix this defense.

Defender
Drafting, free agents, and winning (when this team wins, no one complains about the defense). And drafting doesn't take five years to see results (examples: Madieu, Landon Johnson, Thurman and Pollack when they played, Geathers). None of those guys have been here for 5 yrs and they are all productive. There are certain key players that, when they don't play, are most definitely missed. Last year it was Madieu. This year it has shown to be D-Jax and Braham. When D-Jax comes back, I believe that majority of the belly-aching about defense that goes on here will cease. JaxonFord87
I agree...plus with the way the offense is playing now, would you really want to give up one of our offensive stars? I don't think that you would want to risk damaging the offense just to possibly upgrade the defense.
Kazkal
I'd trade steinbach a high rnd pick and my left hand if it would get us urlacher, but never happen like others said cap reasons

Madieu, Thurman and Joseph look to be the only good drafts on defense for quite some time. I'm telling you Free Agency is where the Big teams are seperated from the little guys. Im not sure the Bengals would be willing to go after the type of names you mentioned.

Just thinking about the really bad teams, Landon Johnson would be a starter in Oakland, San Fran, Tennessee, Houston, Detroit, should I go on? And he's a hell of a depth guy who can fill in with little or no drop-off in productivity for most other teams. You build a team through the draft and plug a hole or two with free agency. And if you doubt that, look at the other superior defenses in the league and see how many free agents they have on their defense: Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Chicago... The other top tier defenses only have one or two key free agents.

Well it may be me but seems like theres alot of dropoff right now,Landons a good LB but I see him more for certin packages / give a guy a rest type of LB but not a full timer starter...preatty much how I see KK
bengalboomer7
Oh, I get it...This is more trolling, huh? I'm starting to wonder. This isn't Madden, trades like this just don't happen.
Stripes
Yeah, we'd never get an impact defender through a trade. That's not how it works in the NFL.I can only think of one valid example, that being the Portis/Bailey trade.I don't want trades or free agents anyways. Continuity is built through the draft. If people aren't patient enough for that, too bad.

agreen_112
Trade ESteinbach for STaylor of da 'Skins...Yeah he'll be a good influence on the others. Face it, we need to make a lot of improvement on the defense. Eventually, if we want to succeed in the playoffs we're going to have to pick up a big time playmaker on defense. Sam and D Jack is just the start. Either we don't re-sign someone of the offense next year and pick up a FA or we're going to have to make some kind of a trade. It's that simple. Odell will be back, but we need another LB. Trolling , not sure. I bleed orange and black from way back mutherf**ker!
