Tasher
While we can rest in our loungers and sip our hot toddies, the Ravens have to travel to Denver and the team from the worthless-burgh (or is that the team with the worthlessburger?) has to go out to the left coast the face a very angry Chargered-up team.So sit back, relax, we will be tied with the Ravens again for the division, with another 2 game lead over the pissed all over pants at the end of next weekend. DesperateDerelict
Hope your right but the Ravens are for real this year. They're the team to beat in the North...I disagree - WE are the team to beat (but it's still too early to tell). You cannot discuss 'team to beat' unless you look at schedules:In the Div: We are 2 - 0 (1 road win); BAL 1 - 0 (1 road win); PIT 0 - 1; CLE 0 - 2 Advantage: CINAFC West: We are 1 - 0 (1 road win); BAL 2 - 0; PIT 0 - 0; CLE 1 - 0 (1 road win) Advantage: CINNFC South: CIN 0 - 0; BAL 1 - 0 (TB); PIT 0 - 0; CLE 0 - 1 (N.O.) Advantage: NoneOther AFC: CIN 0 - 1 (still got Indy); BAL 0 - 0 (TEN & BUF); PIT 1 - 1; CLE 0 - 0 (NYJ & HOU); Adv: BALSo, despite the standings, we are still the team to beat!!! They're the team to beat in the North...The Ratbirds haven't really played anyone. They almost lost to Cleveland for Kripes Sake. We have played 3 REALLY tough teams out of 4 games w/ one major letdown for sure. Wait till the Ratbirds hit the meat of their schedule. Then we'll talk. I guess home games are a given and should automatically be won?AFC West: CIN 1-0 BAl 2-0 advantage BALOk - I'll concede that 2 - 0 is better than 1 - 0. But we beat KC on the road - a Chiefs team that (IMHO) is much better than their 0 - 2 start signified (they almost beat Denver in Denver without Trent Green). The Ratbirds beat Oakland at home (That SHOULD be a "gimme") and edged a very good Chargers team this week. They need to go to both Denver and KC - I can see them losing both! We get Oakland at OAK, and host the Donkeys and Bolts. Should we call it even? The Ratbirds 3rd place schedule, playing the Tee-tons & Bills, is a much bigger advantage - we already lost to the Patsies and still need to drive up I-74 to the Whose-Your Dome! San Antonio Bengal
The Ravens are A team to beat, not THE team to beat. The AFC Central is a 3-horse race. Don't let early season records fool you.

BigBenBlows
3 and 1 going into the bye week. I'll take it, 4 and 0 would be nice don't get me wrong but it IS better than 1 and 3. Before the season I was hoping for 2 and 2 going into the bye.
Tasher
While we cannot continue to play the way we did vs the Pats, if the Ravens continue to play the way they did vs Cleveland and San Dog, they will not survive long either.9-7 will still win this division! ArmyBengal
People are killing me thinking San Diego is some push over that Baltimore just beat. It may have been last minute, but they are a good team and our efforts Sunday won't cut it when we play either of those teams this year...WHODEY !!! derekshank
I have a feeling we're going to sweep the division.Yes... we lost to the Pats, and that puts us at a disadvantage, because Pittsburgh already beat Miami, and the Ravens shouldn't have too much trouble with the Bills... but they have to play us twice. The strength of that Ravens team is still their defense... and we put up 63 on them in 2 games last year. I know McNair makes them better... but they are still having trouble getting points... and he's bound to get hurt. As long as Carson gets back to his old self, we should be able to sweep. If that happens, it gives us a huge advantage in the division. Even if our records are the same at the end of the year, we'll win the tie-breakers. I know that's a long way off... and a lot of things change... but a really bad game against New England doesn't immediately shake the confidence I have in this team. ShulaSteakhouse
Anyone notice what the Chefs did to the Niners last weekend? Where is that Bengals' team we saw in the 1st two games? Beating Pitt and KC on the road is no easy task for anyone, any year.Marvin's teams tend to have a jekyl and hyde problem I am beginning to realize year-to-year. You never know what team to expect to see on Sundays. One week they're beating the SB champs in their home stadium, or flooring a team at home scoring 45 points, then sputtering to 13 points and giving up 38 and looking like losers the next week.Yeah it's the NFL and that stuff happens - but the Bengals' go from one extreme to the other. When they learn they are not going to dominate everyone, every week, maybe they'll grow up and realize how to win and play consistently, and let the wins and losses sort themselves out through luck and fortune, which tends to go your way if you're doing things "the right way" and playing smart, mistake-free, fundamentally sound football every week.Apparently they aren't there yet - Marvin needs to get his guys back on track, way too many mistakes and off-field problems. He cannot escape blame any longer.

He cannot escape blame any longer. You are definetly right... but it just isn't enough to concern me yet. They came out on fire because they had something to prove. Everyone was saying Palmer would be rusty, and that the defense still sucked. Then everyone claimed they were the best team in the league, and it got to their heads. This last game wasn't nearly as much about lack of preparation as it was about the loss of momentum, and it snowballed. Things went from bad to worse, and by the time it was done, ti was far too late to create a comeback.Pittsburgh was terrible at times last year... and managed to get a ring. It's week 4, so I'm just not too worried about it yet. We've got a long way to go, but we've got a long time to do it. What we need is a little luck in the health department. I think what we lose in Dexter Jackson has a lot to do with the attitude of this defense. When we get him back (along with 2 weeks of ass-whipping from Marvin) we'll come out on fire. After reading some of the comments, it just occured to me that maybe Marvin is designing some of these things to help his team mature, grow and learn.)Seems that Marvin does a bunch of stuff by design, to leave some of these other things to happen by chance...
