ML's press conference

Starts in about three minutes. Very curious to hear his tone following that smelly performance yesterday...

He's initially putting a postive spin on it and chiding the press for their reaction yesterday. Says looking at the tape that the players "tried to do too much". I guess tackling wasn't a part of what they were doing...

Edited to add: In response to a question about whether there should be concern over the offense being held under 300 yards for the third time already when that only happened three times all of last season, ML said yardage is "overrated" and that they are 3-1 and are working to get better.

Edited to add: ML says they are not being "consistent" in terms of blocking, scheme etc., and that is hurting them.

Edited to add: Says the blocking scheme isn't "solely on one player", kinda absolving Ghuicac, I would presume, altho that doesn't address the getting run over issue.

Says they need to "do everything better" , "play fast", and "do it right".

Cliches "R" Us is in full effect.

Edited to add: Says Palmer is trying to do too much, and that accounts for some of the fumbling issues (I guess by "doing too much", he means "trying not to get killed as guys run free to him").

Edited to add: In response to what is different between what was OK against KC and Cleveland and not OK the last few weeks, said they "need to attack the gap, get lined up correctly, etc. etc.". Said they need to "do a better job". True dat.

Edited to add: More murmuring about "doing it right". An oblique reference to him not having to worry this week about guys jawing at the other team or taking helmets off or doing stupid stuff to hurt the team, apparently aimed at Chris Henry.

That's it. He's off. Won't hear from him again until next Monday.

Thus endeth the press conference...
