ShulaSteakhouse Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Pasquarelli:All but lost in the news of Thurman's season-long suspension was that the Bengals squirreled rookie defensive end Frostee Rucker, a player with more than his share of off-field issues, onto injured reserve this week. There is the potential for one of Rucker's past cases to get uglier in coming weeks and by placing him on injured reserve, the Bengals create a kind of out-of-sight-out-of-mind facade. and coach Marvin Lewis wanted to happen................... Another wasted top 3 pick.Dear Marvin: Enough is enoughI don't have access to the rest of it (IN article). This is also posted on Lance McAlister's 1350 blog. Quote

DC_Bengals_Fan Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Frostee isn't going anywhere either... Good God people relax already !!!WHODEY !!!Why? Even minus the off-the-field issues, he wouldn't have been above a 5th-6th round pick for any other team. He flat sucks, and his effort in the preseason made that clear. They don't need an excuse like, say, jail. He simply isn't good enough to play. Quote

Given that his pending arrest issues was also common knowledge before the draft - for instance, I knew it - most teams wouldn't touch him in the 7th.And his play has undeniably *not* been up to the standards of a 3rd round pick. My guess is he'll never start a game for the Bengals.Hell, how do you not take Ko in that spot if nothing else? Quote
walshfan Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 The Rucker pick surprised me.. it still does.... Quote
Kazkal Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 It was pretty common knowledge before the draft,Really just like how henderson was gonna be drafted as one top DE's then ends up on practice squad? or what about all DE"s who went in rnds 5-7 who were thought as 1st day picks?Don't get me wrong if I could exchange Rucker for a different pick I would do so now (gimme Ko still baby!) but you don't know where he would have went in the draft if bengals dident take him you would need some kind of "what if machine"God I wish we had ko "crys" having him and JJ both on field at same time would be fun in a few years. ShulaSteakhouse Posted October 1, 2006 Author Report Posted October 1, 2006 I'm just not real happy about not having 2 top 3 picks gone for the entire season due to character issues, and 3 of them inactive today because of "character" problems - all of which were known about prior to drafting them.If you can't keep them in-line, don't draft them, at least that high. Again, enough is enough. Quote

With Rucker, there were too many reports from too many different places. I'm just saying, he wasn't 3rd round material, anyone with a brain knew it, and a lot of personnel people league wide were laughing about it.I can't guarantee that some team or another wouldn't have gotten stupid in the 4th or 5th, but teams with real personnel departments were staying miles away from this guy. Given that there was serious talent available at that spot that got passed over (again, Ko), this pick is indefensible. And that's before we start talking about his inpending arrest, for which any team with half a brain would have passed over him.My fear is that the Bengals' newfound success is causing Mikey to ignore Marvin in the draft process. I'm guessing - just guessing - that this wasn't a Marvin pick.Honestly, anyone want to defend the choosing of a slow DE who also happens to be a recidivist rapist with pending charges that might result in jail time? In the third round? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Quote
