redsrule2500
It seems like every play they are 'rooting' against the Bengals. If they do something good, it was only because the other team screwed up.Anyone else notice this or am I just paranoid??Also: What was Marvin talking about "WHO DEY" at the end of his press conference? membengal
It's better this year than it has ever been before. I am not noticing it as much.**Other than with Randy Cross, and he is just a major tool who has always hated Cincinnati...

CT Stiller
It's better this year than it has ever been before. I am not noticing it as much.**Other than with Randy Cross, and he is just a major tool who has always hated Cincinnati...I can't believe Cross still has a job as a color analyst. The guy is always biased in his opinions - he seems to root against Pittsburgh all the time as well. I think he wants the NFC to start dominating again.By the way, we all think the commentators are against our teams. There aren't too many completely objective color analysts nowadays. I think Troy Aikman is one of the better color guys today.

Stripes
No, I don't think they are biased. Fans of every team probably have this opinion. We're the biased ones expecting them to praise our team all game long.

If they do something good, it was only because the other team screwed up.Anyone else notice this or am I just paranoid??Also: What was Marvin talking about "WHO DEY" at the end of his press conference? Personally can't stand Ditka on the pregame (dumb as a rock)Michael Irvin (loves to talk about himself and hear himself talk - ditto Theisman)John Madden (overstates the obvious and talks down to the fan as if we're new idiots to the game - and then misses obvious situations himself!)Marvin briefly mentioned WHO DEY (or WE DEY) in his post-game locker room speech to the team but I don't recall seeing a press conference. He told the team that WE DEY is now over...get over it and move on. It is now done. But I may have missed the situation you are speaking of if he did hold a press conference and discussed it.Did you see Cowher's interview on ESPN? He was asked point blank if the Bengals were the BEST team in the AFC. He smirked; hesitated; and then side-stepped the question saying that there are MANY good teams in the AFC who can all compete for the AFC title. I don't know if he was trying to avoid providing more ammo for the Bengals/Steelers game later in the season but he was definitely holding something back. I still don't believe we have his respect. In fact, in his post-game interview - he continued to mention that they GAVE the game away and talked endlessly about their MISTAKES - giving very little credit to the Bengals. At the end of his ESPN interview, Cowher mentioned the Colts as an AFC favorite but no one else. I almost wish that the season's last game here would mean something so that we could thump them again. I have come to despise Cowher!
CBin2k7
I didn't think Phil Simms was being very biast. He was actually complementing the Bengals alot during the game. He was especially enamored with the depth at wide receiver.Nothing is worse than Gus Johnson openly rooting for the Lions and proclaiming he is a life long Detroit Lions fan, during that game last season. Even when praising Parker, who did run well he noted that it was cutbacks that were paying off and that our DL wasn't staying home. In a subsequent run, when we caught him for a loss, he fairly stated that we did not overcommit.I want the color guy to tell it like it is, not sugar coat my team or the other team. I call it the "Bob Trumphy" rule -- in one game in the 80s he commented on an INT -- "That pass should have never been thrown".If you cant imagine an announcer saying that for both teams, he doesn't belong in the booth.Simms did that and did it well. When we made good plays he praised us, when Pitt did he praised them. When we screwed up he said why. When they did he did the same. He talked football and not a bunch of baloney. DesperateDerelict
If you're from Cincinnati and at home watching the game, why are not listening to Brad and Lap?There is a full 5 second delay between the radio and the cable TV - drives me nuts. It's not as bad if you're watching the old fashioned 'network' TV.Brad does an okay job - you still can't be sure if a 'swing pass' loses 2 yards or gains 8 until they give you the next play's down 'n' distance. Lap is entertaining, insightful, and inciteful - He's such a homer he makes Joe Nuxhall look like an objective network guy. Most of the network guys aren't biased, just ignorant. We've been in such a media black hole the last decade they don't know what to think of the team - and are limited to thier thinking anyway. Does anybody else notice how they compare EVERY offensive and defensive unit to famous units through history? If your team is in any way unique, they have no clue as to how to handle it. ArmyBengal
I mentioned this a couple days ago and was dismissed, so I'll bring it up again... I thought the same thing of the way the announcers went on about the Steelers. I know they just won the Superbowl, but I just don't want to hear it all game long. It's not just the Steelers, it's any team that the media has a hardon for !!!WHODEY !!!

bengalboomer7
come on guys. if i was an announcer I'd be biased too. I don't mind biased to much(i can't deny it gets annoying some time) what I can't tolerate is stupidity. ever watch HBO pay per view boxing. I wanna kill myself listening to those guys. Madden says some completely Capt Obvious s**t regularly, and theisman is just dumb

ArmyBengal
BB7, I get the whole stupidity thing for sure !!! Anyone hear the comment made on MNF when trying to explain how the WR's had to deal with the new turf in the Superdome ?? They said, "the wide receivers are going to have to start running with their bodies on top of their legs"... Now I'm pretty sure I know they meant running more upright, but what the hell, can't you just say that, as opposed to trying to say something all technical only to sound like a douche bag ??WHODEY !!!
