Dan2330
I have read so many articles this week calling this a 'Rematch' game, especially for Carson and the Bengals given what happened in the Wild Card Game last year. Hmm, let me think about this, a week #3 game as important as a playoff game? Nope does not register in my book as a 'rematch'- I know most of it is media hot air hype but the only true way to reach the level of a 're-match' would be WHEN the Bengals beat the Steelers in this years playoffs IF the Steelers make it that far- and that's a big IF
Stripes
I think you could call the week 17 game a rematch, given the location and the playoff atmosphere. The Bengals might be resting their starters for that one though...
ohwhyknott
WHEN the Bengals beat the Steelers in this years playoffs IF the Steelers make it that far- and that's a big IFBut tomorrow would still put a big nail in that "if"---They would surely be in a must-win situation, in the next game. stilldiesel
Look it's the defending world champions playing the team they played in the playoffs last year. A team that feels it would have won had their QB not been knocked out. (though none of you have explained to me why your defense could not hold 2 10 point leads Kitna provided) Also, these are two teams that have grown to dislike each other. In summary, this game is extremely marketable and CBS is just doing good business hyping it up.
Dadraftnick
We do have a ton of important players hurt and out for the year ,on IR,suspended,or just plain old injuried and out this week. There is also the guys that are hurt and will play. They will be pretty close to full stregnth and they are playing at home coming off a loss.If they loose I am sure they will come up with plenty of excuses,Rothelsburger will say he had a fever ect. But, we have our work cut out for us and I still think we will beat them and take at least some payback from them. derekshank
(though none of you have explained to me why your defense could not hold 2 10 point leads Kitna provided)I don't think you'll hear any of us claim that our defense was the reason we felt we could beat you. The reason we beat you in Pittsburgh last year is that we dictated to you what kind of game it would be. We scored 38 points! It's hard to stay in your typical "pound the ball" and "run down the clock" traditional Steelers football when you need to get that many points back, huh? You're right that we had 10 point leads at 2 points in that game. 10-0 in the 1st quarter, and then 17-7 with 7 minutes left in the 1st half... and then - WE DIDN'T SCORE ANOTHER POINT FOR THE REST OF THE GAME!!!We only had 80 damn yards for the rest of the whole damn game... so stop pretending that we didn't lose anything with Kitna in the game. Look at that stats. After we scored 17, our average time of possession during those drives was only 2:41. We were dominated in the 2nd half in TOP, because Kitna couldn't sustain a drive. Our offense averaged only 13 yards/possesion.So, you're right. Bengal fans won't attempt to explain to you why our defense couldn't hold two 10 point leads. That wasn't how this team operated. We were built on the big play... something that was taken away from us the second Palmer was injured. We knew we could win a shoot-out... but with Carson in the hospital, we no longer could. Kitna played a decent game for two first half drives... but the rest of the game told the real story. He's no Carson Palmer... and we couldn't compete with #9 out. redsbengalsbucks
I would not call this a rematch, but I will call it a revenge match.Just like Ohio State has extracted its revenge from Texas and Penn State for losses last season. These teams are only similar to the teams that played that playoff game last season, so it can not be a rematch.Revenge is a dish best shoved down the throats of the bloated heads of the currrent SB chumps. Yes, to all Steeler interlopers, there is not one Bengals fan who said that the Bengals could beat Pittsburgh on the strength of its defense last year. Yet another reason losing CP was so devastating...
stilldiesel
There are a couple of things you forget about the game in Pittsburgh. You guys had a HUGE kick return for a TD that really broke our backs when we were trying to get back into the game. Also, if you remember Ben's 1st game back from knee surgery was 6 days earlier against the Colts on MNF. Ben injured the thumb on his throwing hand during that game, and I believe that led to some of his turnovers.Pittsburgh was also driving into Bengal territory when Staley straight up dropped a 3rd down handoff, and gave the ball back to the Bengals. Then when we finally get the ball back and score; the kick return for the TD. There are circumstances that come in every game but the great teams find ways to overcome them. stilldiesel
OK. excuses excuses your QB was injured. We won the game that counted and had the DEFENSE to do something you guys never would have done. Go into Indy and Denver and win two road games. You guys winning that wild card game would have done nothing but give the trophy to the Colts.BTW, if you didn't hear Ben's thumb was injured the ENTIRE playoff run then you must live in a cave.
