walzav29 Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I'm not sure if I want trash talking or I don't. Is it bad if the Bengals are too tight for the game that they play too tight? If they talk are they too loose? I'm worried that the Bengals will get away from what got them there. You don't want the character of the team to change. They should do what they normally would. Talking checklist's, dances and so forth. Not because I like it, but because it's what they do. Quote
Stripes Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 This team has grown up a lot. I don't expect any trash talking before the game, at least not from the Bengals end. They can stay quiet until gametime and still play at their best. Quote
walzav29 Posted September 20, 2006 Author Report Posted September 20, 2006 I get the feel that they are acting differently this week than they have the past 2. Which is understandable. I think they have more talent that Pittsburgh. I feel that the high of beating Pittsburgh last year was too high and the low of losing Palmer was too low. They have to have confidence in themselves. They should. I really think this is where Palmer establishes himself as the eilte of the elite with his composure. Quote
Tasher Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I want them to act like the BENGALS! (I won't mind if the physicality of the D looks very similar to what Jax looked like on Monday night!) I would expect very similar performance to the KC and the Brownie games, with a lot more steeler week intensity and passion sprinkled in. Quote
derekshank Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 This game is huge... but the Bengals have shown that they aren't intimidated anymore. We put up 38 points on them in their house. The fear element is gone. Now, we're just going to go play football. No more worries about being too tight or too loose. We're experienced in winning now, so we know how to prepare for big games. walzav29 Posted September 20, 2006 Author Report Posted September 20, 2006 I can see the Bengals just steam rolling the Steelers in this one. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I don't think either side is trying to give the other team bulletin board material... The Steelers are coming off of a loss that they are having a hard time dealing with and I can't see the Bengals giving them a reason to be more motivated... I think HUSH should be the word... I also think Marvin needs to show tape of Cowher doing the "WeDey" chant !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
membengal Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I would like the Bengals to act like the defending AFC North champs. Quote
jrandom42 Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 How do I want the Bengals to act? Totally businesslike, no nonsense outside of at least 3 Chad Dances.Smash them in the mouth on all phases of the game, say "Both teams played hard" to the press, go home with a win and get prepped for the Patriots. Quote

dez0923 Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Well, Johnson is already talking. . . so much for the Bengals not saying anything before the game. . Their is a reason why this game is basically nationally televised. . the Bengals have something to prove, and the Steelers are trying to show them they still own them. . you think this won't get gritty or physical? Neither side will be quiet come game day, and I expect to see alot of fireworks. It's gonna be a great day to be alive, sirs. Quote
membengal Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 The Bengals have nothing to prove. They are the defending AFC North champs, and took it last year from Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh. Period.Nice run for the Steelers in the playoffs, obviously, but forever with an * due to Palmer's injury.Steelers, maybe, have something to prove, since their last memory of Cincy in Pittsburgh is Cincy kicking them square in the nuts, but Cincy? No, nothing to prove. Quote

Bottom line is, you can bitch and moan all you want about excuses or injuries or whatever. . but the Steelers went into the Jungly and sent Cincy home twice last year. . How does Cincy not have anything to prove? They need to prove their among the leagues elite and not just another fluke team. Just because Esiason and Collinsworth say the Bengals are top 5 material doesn't mean they are. . . in that same sense when Hoge says something about Pittsburght I take it with a grain of salt. . You only wish it was just Esiason and Collinsworth. I'm telling you ... take off the Black-N-Urine goggles and see the world for what it is. Have you ever gotten beyond Pissburgh? You know, if you break out of Urine Land, the world does have much to offer ... even to folks with a Pissburgh education. Try it. Oh ... and take your comments to smack ... or just leave altogether. You have added little to nothing of significance, beyond a strong Urine bias. Go take a mid-day nap or something. Quote
fattyjay Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 As long as they don't come out flat or jittery, they'll be fine. Avoid the mistakes that classically happen in big rod games...red-zone turnovers, procedure penalties, and personal fouls. With two teams that are going to be so jacked up, these are the mental errors that could swing the game in one direction or the other. Quote
agreen_112 Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I want the Bengals to get as pumped as they can heading into Pittsburgh. During the game I want to see our guys hype, aggressive, and physical as hell. I wanna see guys get right back into the face of the Steelers, who you know will be running their crybaby mouths. Especially those of the steelers secondary and Poo Poo Porter. Quote

It's going to be like that everytime they beat us from here on out, and it's just a slap in the face to the Bengals and all the fans. If we want it we have to take that s**t back! To me this is worse than hearing us being called the Bungles for so long. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Regardless of Cowher's intent, it's material to be used for the Bengals in a way of motivation and a GOOD ONE !!! I'd be pissed if I was a player and would be wanting to kick the crap out of them for it !!!Sort of like if I were a Steelers player and saw TJ shining his shoes with the turdible towel...WHODEY !!! At least he understands that. No way anybody could be surprised that it's basically the ultimate bulletin board (video screen) material this week and at the season's end. Motivation is good, but we need to simply try to exert our will. Run the ball sufficiently to set up the pass. Pass the ball successfully enough to gain balance. And play pressure d. Gotta get to bb early and let him know he's gonna hurt all day long. I'm pretty much of a mindset to bring guys to fill the lanes and get hands in his face at the expense of coverage. Quote
