Tasher
So now the depth question hits us square in the face for Sunday and vs New England until Odell gets back. So what do we do?LBs look like this, with current (general alignment):Brooks, Ahmad - MIKEJeanty, Rashad - SAMJohnson, Landon - WILLMiller, Caleb - WILLNicholson, A.J. - MIKESimmons, Brian - MIKEWilkins, Marcus - WILLDo you think that Jeanty will play every snap next week? With Brooks size, I bet that he gets into the rotation on the strong side and possibly AJ now gets on the field in the middle.Or do they play Caleb and Marcus a little more across the board? After Odell gets back, my bets are that Odell goes back in the middle and Simmons moves to strong. Seems we have a lack of depth purely at the SAM position now.
membengal
I am hoping Brooks has the size and speed to backup the Sam, any reason anyone can think of why he can't? Seems like the instruction "go get that guy" and point him at the quarterback might be doable in passing downs anyway...
Stripes
I don't think we'll see much of Brooks next week... Miller will probably get most of the snaps behind Jeanty. When Odell gets back, I think it'll be Simmons on the weakside and Jeanty stays at strong. Brooks will probably be available as a backup to all three, but he'll still be behind Miller, Landon, and Wilkins until later in the season. Kazkal
I think Caleb will get some playing time at strong, mybe on 3rd downs covering and they can line jeanty up as a end.

bengalboomer7
I was talking about this a lot yesterday. Here are my personal thoughts.1. Simmons has looked very well in the middle, better than he normally looks at the Will, and Landon has been great over there in his natural position. I really don't want to take landon off the field.2. Even with our depth problems, I'm not so sure how much PT marvin has in store for Odell. Seems to me he's going to have to work his way back up the depth chart before he hits the field. That's just the perception I got in preseason from marvin, I don't know how Pollack's injury will affect that.3. I like Rashad jeanty. i like his story, his previous pro experience, even his name is cool We have four legitimate starters(five if Pollack was around) for only three positions. Now, this is a dangerous thing to do, but could help in disguising blitzes and coverages. Landon can play all three positions and Simmons has a great handle on two. I've been thinking about shuffling these guys. On passing downs Jeanty or Odell pays strong side to blitz, and during coverage packages Simmons plays SSLB, Landon WSLB and Odell MLB. Bottom line is we gotta find a way to get these guys on the field as mihc as possible and as long as it doesn't tip of our scheme, it could work.Yes, I realize this is a tad wacky
HairOnFire
I like Rashad jeanty. i like his story, his previous pro experience, even his name is cool I think he's much stiffer than Pollack and doesn't change direction all that well, but I think he diagnoses plays much quicker than Pollack. In fact, Jeanty seems to blow several plays behind the LOS in every game.

Jeanty "feels" more like a backer to me.I'm concerned about the lack of depth on the strongside, but I figured Jeanty and Miller would be a good platoon there. I had always figured Miller was a Sam anyway (maybe that's just the impression I got when he was drafted with Landon -- 1 Sam and 1 Will). I'd hate to see them try to shoehorn Simmons or Landon into the strongside where they might not be as comfortable. Here's a completely random thought...but what about moving Geathers to LB? Kazkal
Can't knock caleb though even hobson pointed out hes working his way on the field more and more,
ArmyBengal
What about moving Geathers to LB?After last years fiasco at the DT position, they moved him back to DE and in my humble opinion, think another move to another position would not help the team. Geathers seems to be a natural at the DE position, but I would live with it, if Marvin truly felt that was the best direction to travel. I just don't see that being the case...WHODEY !!!
