Tasher
Who is that guy impersonating Justin Smith?Has anyone put out an APB? <<==(picture or Jumpy Geathers coming at U)
lando griffin
He was productive yesterday, but I still can't understand how the coaches don't have him developing any pass rush moves. All he does is bullrush everytime. I guess it's fine for now when you are an ox of a human being, but in a few years he's not gonna be able to manhandle people the way he's tries to on every down. Plus it was undersized Turley.
TippCityRick
Justin FINALLY has other playmakers on the line with him. This allows him to make plays that he only got close to in the past.I said it before and I'll say it again, SIGN HIM NOW!! You won't find ends that will give you 7-9 sacks each year and are STOUT against the run. His tenaciousness is contagious. Go get him! Kazkal
Justin has used spin moves and other things before =P it's just rare
walshfan
Justin Knows other moves.. Problem is he's not flexible enough to use them as some DE's do...As for his play yesterday...Yes he had a great game but when you consider who he was up agasint ( 270 pounder, hasnt played in two years , out of position) anything less of him would have been a disaster.Same with Geathers.... Edogger
Who is that guy impersonating Justin Smith?Has anyone put out an APB? <<==(picture or Jumpy Geathers coming at U)Who cares where the "real" Justin Smith is...just keep him locked up where ever he is until the end of the season and this imposter sets the new single season record for sacks and carries the defense all the way through the post season. Stripes
Smith played very well, but keep in mind that he was facing Kyle Turley. I'm optimistic, but let's see him face some better qualified lineman.

HoosierCat
Agreed that the caliber of the opposition (Turley) probably played a role. But also I think you have to take into account the improved status of our DTs w/Adams (and to a lesser extent Peko) now in the mix. B-rob also had a good day (5 tackles). Make the other team pay attention to the interior and the guys on the edge will make more plays. ArmyBengal
How many times have we had such an even dispersement of tackles between the players ?? Usually you have one or two guys getting all the tackles in the past... This was a true defensive TEAM effort !!! WHODEY !!!
HairOnFire
Nothing but bull rushes? Well didn't I call that one more than a month ago when I told the haters that a Justin Smith bull rush was a beautiful thing? For those that bothered counting that Justin Smith bull rush netted three sacks yesterday. Funny thing, two of those three resulted in sacks for Smith, while the third sack was the result of a Smith bull rush that forced Green to pull the ball down...allowing Geathers to get him. Credit Geathers with the sack, but I'd say we can give plenty of credit to Smith for that one. Oh, and Geathers OTHER sack? It came as a result of Robert's own bull rush. Thornton's sack? Yup, bull rush. Peko's sack? Bull rush. So was there nothing for the spinners? Well, yeah. That was a spin move that got Justin to the QB on the play that resulted in a sack, a fumble, and a fumble recovery. BTW, Smith being in a salary year has absolutely nothing to do with the performance. He's always been a 100% motor guy so there's nothing more for him to give. The sacks were a result of an overmatched opponent who was too light, a scheme that limited stunting and blitzing, and better players surrounding Smith. Oh, and playing the entire game with the Bengals in the lead probably helped a bunch. People, wake up. Here comes the defense. This is what we've been waiting for, right? Crunkity-bumpity-thumpity-boom.
Kazkal
Justin diden't have a game like this vs texans last year and their Oline was the worst in the NFL a good line needs more then 1 good player
ArmyBengal
Here comes the defense. This is what we've been waiting for, right?YOU KNOW THAT'S THE TRUTH !!! A better than average defense will be a thing of beauty to watch with the dominating offense we already possess !!!WHODEY !!!
Casey
I was really impressed with him. I know he was going up against Turley, but Turley was also holding all game long and he still couldn't contain him. I liked the way the whole defense looked. Arrowhead is one of the toughest places in the NFL to play and the Bengals came out with a W, without Carson and the offense having a huge day statistically. You can say it was the weather conditions, the Chiefs O-line, or whatever you want, but the D (led by Smith) stepped up when needed...and that's a good thing to see. The tackling is still a problem, but it has improved.
