ArmyBengal
Now that it's September, maybe being superstitious will help them out, so I started a new thread and changed titles... They open a 3 game series against the Giants today with Harang on the mound. They also have a 3 game series against the Pirates and then the Padres. (The next 9 games are at home) We then have 3 at the Cubs and then at the Astros before coming back home for 4 against the Cubs. We finish the season with 3 at the Marlins and 3 at the Pirates. This part of the schedule is what I was waiting for, thinking if we could keep it close, we would be in it. Now the question is, being 6 games back of the Cards and 2.5 back in the wild card, can we get back in it and still manage a shot at the playoffs ?? The team has the potential to put together a serious win streak, but the inconsistent play will make it tough. So, will the Reds make it happen or fall out of the Wild Card within the next week ?? I'm still hoping, but the AL is going to win the World Series anyway, as the NL is WAAAAAY weak !!!WHODEY !!!
ArmyBengal
Well, they give a homer in the top of the 10th and lose 5-4... They had a chance to gain a game with the Cards losing tonight. Oh well...WHODEY !!!
rwalling
It's real simple. They've got games against three teams ahead of them in the WC standings (SF, SD, FL) as well as a slew of games against the sCrUBS and the Pirates. They simply need to get on with winning some games and let the cards fall as they may.
Stripes
At this rate, they'll be lucky to finish seven or eight games under .500!

ArmyBengal
She's in the house and drinking a beer, but nothing would please me more, than to see someone slap the b*tch in the mouth and make a run at the playoffs !!!That last statement in NO WAY advocates violence towards women, so back off all you touchy b*tches !!!WHODEY !!! ArmyBengal
The Reds win 3-0 and Arroyo gets his forst Career shutout over the Giants. All 3 runs came in the 1st inning and they were able to hold on for the win. WHODEY !!!

jditty47
no they wont make the playoffs. when it counts the most, the reds are crumbling. the phillies, padres, and the marlins are all playing better baseball than the reds. they might fight for the rest of the season and keep it close and interesting, but i hardly doubt they make it.not after what ive seen over the past 2-3 weeks. ArmyBengal
Well, they won 9-1 tonight. Lohse pitched 7 good innings tonight. Dunn hit his 40th homer, becoming only the 2nd Reds player to hit 40 in 3 consecutive seasons. Valentine hit 2 homers and Freel lead off with a homer. The Cards are getting whipped and the Padres are losing as well. Maybe a good stomping can spark a fire for the last month !!! C'mon, I can hope can't I ?!?!?! Rally cap time !!!WHODEY !!! ArmyBengal
Well, Harang couldn't put it together and the Reds lost an opportunity when the Padres got beat tonight... Oh well...WHODEY !!!
Casey
It's not over yet. HUGE series starts tonight!
redsfan2
I doubt they make the post season as well. Shame is, that's what the talking heads will hash over instead of how well they did for a team that all the " experts " said would be slugging it out with the Pirates for last place. I'll be happy with a finish above .500. Next year Homer Arroyo & Harang ......... HAH!Krivsky isn't sitting on his hands ( or thumb ) and Castllini gets it. Looks good for the future and maybe not as far off as we'd thought.
