ArmyBengal
Just thinking about the Center position for a while and after reading a quick blurb on the .com site, Wilkerson was mentioned as a possibility for the practice squad. I like Wilkerson and will be happy to give him the next year to see what he can do to come back from the knee injury, but with some teams hurting at the center position (Browns) I don't see him staying on the PS for very long.I still like the idea of Steinbach (if we can resign him) taking over from Braham at Center and getting Whitworth in the starting lineup. Ghiaciuc provides great depth if not given the starters role, but all this depends on the money situation. So what do you think about our Centers ??WHODEY !!! Kazkal
I hope we can keep wilk on the 53man because you know if he hits PS he goes to the browns and so does our offensive playbook inless he trys finds job with another team as a starter
walshfan
Let the Browns have Wilkerson.. I think he's soft by NFL standards.Sam Adams would run right over him.
Stripes
Lap brought Wilkerson up a few times during the game. Ghiaciuc has shown some excellent versatility, and therefore has more to offer the football team as a backup. If Wilkerson is their center of the future, he'll make the roster... But he's starting to look like a PS or surprise cut guy.
HoosierCat
Given that this is likely Braham's last year, you have to think they would like to keep both Bluto and Wilk. And I agree that Wilk isn't likely to slip past the Browns on the waiver wire. We'll find out which way they jump today.

If Steinbach stays he's a guard. Ghiaciuc or Wilkerson is center next year. I think they keep both this year and consider Ghiaciuc as a backup guard to rationalize it. But that's just my opinion--I guess we'll find out in a few hours! When was the last time cutdown day was sooo exciting!
BengalChamps
The Clowns are just waiting to snap up Wilk. He will never make it the PS. But if we keep Wilk we will have to keep 10 OL. We are not going to keep Wilk over Andrews, Whitworth, Guycheck, and Koostra.
Tasher
Wilkerson was the Rimmington Award winner year before last and was a concensus First Round pick before he hurts his knee!He has had a ton of PT during the preseason for everyone to see that he is a monster! No way he A. goes to the PS, let alone B. gets cut! This guy is the center of the future after Brahm gets one more year to tutor.Kooistra is the guy that gets cut and he will be picked up so fast (probaby by the Chiefs!) that Kooistra's head will be spinning. (Unless we go short at other positions and keep extra linemen.)
Jonboat
Yeah, it would make no sense moving Stienbach to center, we already know he been asking tackle money so it's going to cost a ton of money to sign him to begin with. Why would you give him that type of cash then move him to center ? If you thought the young guys couldn't replace Ritchie hell you could sign Braham to alot less than Steinbach ,let Steinbach walk & put one of the two @ guard.I'd like to see them keep both & agree Wilkerson would never make it to the PS. One thing is for sure we've got good depth this year so we'll be cutting players that will catch on with someone else & it's going to be interesting to see who those players are & who they go to. gbengals
Just a thought but if Ben is the better Center than Guycheck (I know I got the spelling wrong but this is how it is pronounced) he should stay. I heard that it is his lack a versaltality that is hurting him. If he stays then if we can not resign Eric we could move Guycheck to that LG role and let Ben start at center. Once again, just a thought.
BlainThePain
To remember how to spell Ghiaciuc's name just break it in half. Ghia Ciuc. It's easy that way.I think we can keep all three centers on the roster. If I remember right, we kept 10 O-Linemen last year so the final list would look something like this: BrahamWilkersonGhiaciucSteinbachWhitworthWilliamsAndrewsAndersonJonesKooistraIf that isn't the deepest line in the NFL, I don't know what is. The versatility of guys like Kooistra, Andrews, and Whitworth gives us a lot of flexibility to do something like keep three centers. On a side note, I would actually like to see us try Whitworth at TE on goalline situations. Imagine Williams, Anderson, and Whitworth lined up next to each other to plow the way for JJ and Rudi. GregCook
Wilk is what? A free agent signing? The guy is a very low paid Olineman with talent. I'd be surprised if the Bengals cut him.The Bengals have a load of talent on the Oline with two new starters for next year, why thin it out now when it will happen anyway when Richie and Steiny are gone? If there is a surprise Oline released, I'm guessing its the Koos.

When you list the line out like that you can really see how pimped out our line is. Anyone have a depth chart for the 2000 Cincinnati Bengals? 2001? 2002? I'd really like a good laugh right about now.

sparky151
Browns traded today for Eagles backup center and former starter Hank Fraley. I doubt they will pick up Wilkerson.
