aaronburr
Bob Bratkowski’s offense went down the tubes in 2001 and 2002 when they ignored the position and didn’t respond to injuries to Tony McGee and Marco Battaglia’s illness. One of the differences between Jon Kitna in 2001 and 2002 and his Comeback of the Year season in 2003 was due, in part, because of the emphasis back on tight ends. And I’m not saying Darnell Sanders or Ronnie Ghent is a future Antonio Gates. All I’m saying is if Kelly or Stewart gets hurt, they’ve got problems in the running game. That’s all. I guess they can go get Ghent on the practice squad if that happens, but how do you know he’s going to be there? Then you bring in a guy you can’t use because he doesn’t know the offense, and now how many formations can you use?Kind of a useless gamble to me. Don't really see how Hobson could compare Kitna's offense to Carson's offense. He sounds a little loopy here.

If a 3rd tight end makes or breaks you, then you've more to worry about than the tight ends in the first place.
BlainThePain
I think we could use a combination of Tab Perry and Whitworth at TE in an emergency.

aaronburr
I think we could use a combination of Tab Perry and Whitworth at TE in an emergency. That's exactly what Hobson said later in the same column. Must have been a long weekend, the guy's starting to lose it.That could happen with Whitworth on the goal line and it has already happened with Perry on passing downs. They like Perry as a blocker and use him to pass protect out of that spot on third down.
HoosierCat
BTW.. Dorsey signed with Colts...Darn. Oh, well, good luck to him.Anyhow, now that we have the roster, who dresses on game day? Team gets 45 guys + Doug Johnson, but that still means seven guys have to sit. Assuming there are no injuries or suspensions, these names float to the top for me:- Kwash. Only in if Henry is out. Chatman is also a possibility here.- Stacy the Dancing Bear- Whitworth- Non-Dairy Dessert Rucker- "Fingers" Nicholson- Ahmad Brooks- Kilmer. G. Brooks also a possibility here. HoosierCat
Not that I've seen. Cleveland has built a PS and made a couple claims that didn't involve Wilkerson, so that's encouragiing.
Kazkal
Ya I noticed that though I think he'd rather be a bengal because he still has a chance at center where as a brown he'd just be bents backup.
