Explanation of why the Bengals beat Chiefs

Recommended Posts

1. They are going on the reputation of their homefield.

2. They have lost their probowl tackle, fullback and their starting center. They also lost their offensive coordinator as well as their offensive minded head coach. When the Chiefs lose Herman will say they need to "get on the same page"

3. The spanking they got on the last game of the season. KC was playing like it was the Superbowl for their bawl baby coach. The Bengals were resting for the playoffs.

4. The defense is swarming now, and Sam Adams and the 2 safeties are great.

5. The offense is returning all starters, so they are already on the same page. The Cheifs defense isn't.

Bengals 42

Chiefs 17

It will be a great game, and I am ecstatic that their schedule is so tough. There will be no questions when the Bengals enter the playoffs this year.

Just so everyone knows, most Internet sports books have the Chiefs -3 Bengals +3. I hate betting on the Bengals because I just want to watch the Bengals win and not think about lines, but this seems the closest to a sure win in sports betting. I'm contemplating altering the line to Bengals -4 so I can get a bigger payout--objectively, I can't see the Bengals winning by less than a TD.

The be fair it is preseason, but for everyone to think that the Chiefs are just going to steam-roll everyone and Larry Johnson is going to get 2,500 yards and 38 td's is retarded. They'll be better than preseason, but not as good as people think.

I agree...Chiefs have a new coach and a new offensive coordinator and they will have to adjust...I think they will give the Bengals a lot and that game might come down to a fg...I still give the Bengals the edge because of Carson and that offense...They can score 40 points and just win shootouts...Plust KC defense isn't that great but they did get Law...

2a. They lost their other starting tackle, not the center I think. Still, can't stress that one enough - these guys are replacing BOTH of their tackles. One of their new tackles has started exactly 1 game in the NFL, and the other one is completly broken and hasn't played for 2 years (Turley). As long as big Sam and company plug the middle OK, I don't see them having much running room to the outside.

Yinzers are out other their minds...last years KC team was damn good, but you have no idea about the Bengals this year. Last years game would have been close if we played our starters and/or gave a s**t...so just clear your mind, and go eat that gourmet s**t you guys call primanti brothers (otherwise known as a bunch of italian meats, fries, and cole slaw on s**tty white bread)

Its obvious the people who have posted so far have never been to Arrowhead Stadium. Pre-season means nothing...why is everyone so worked up about pre-season? These coaches are running basic vanilla offenses/defenses... I know that the Bengals will be ready...but the Chiefs will too and that place will be rocking big time....

These stupid fans want so hard to convince themselves that the Bengals offense will somehow not be better than last year, and they want to somehow also think that this D has not improved. Hey, fine by me. I will truly find it ever so funny when they score 7 points on us and then look to blaming Cowher, Benji, or whomever. Black-N-Urine Eyeopening Prediction for '06 - Steelers get a team total of 75 Rushing Yards in each game against us this year. Just watch.

thanks for the insults...moron....the fact is this boy. whether you want to believe it or not......YOU HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING YET....period....and until you can prove that you can go farther than one 1st round playoff loss in 15 years nobody will respect you......and don't give me the shoulda coulda woulda crap about palmers glass knee because your team had ample opportunities and many of your players said they lost their self control in that game.....especially skinny CJ.....swinging at a coach.....he should have been suspended but ML has no control of your team

Hey, I like that ... fighting in the smack forum!! I'm in!

Seriously ... you are absolutely correct. I surely cannot resist exposing these idiots, but it's important to stay on-topic nonetheless, even when they REFUSE to post in the correct forum.

As far as the preseason goes, the Chiefs first-team played well in their third game, which of course is the dress rehearsal for the regular season opener.

When you add in the home field advantage, which has been unreal at Arrow Head, this would appear to be a tough opening game for the Bengals.

Never the less, I see a quality win and a good start to the new season for the Bengals.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But it could have been better ...

Too bad it is the Dolphins and not the Bengals who are playing at Pittsburgh on Thursday night.

Beating the Steelers to open the 2006 NFL season would have been perfect ...

Not looking for respect, don't think your town is capable of respect of anything farther than 30 miles outside the city limits. I know, I went to CMU for four years. Last time I remember, what has happened in the past NFL seasons has nothing really to do with the upcoming season. If I think the Bengals will be a very hard team to beat this season you can't disprove that by saying we've only gone to one playoffs in the past 15 years--it does not matter for this season. By the way, I didn't mention anything about the playoff game and Palmer in my post, I was talking about our loss to KC last year in the final game of the season. ML has no control? Give me a break.

going to CMU for 4 years hardly makes you an expert on Pittsburgh.....you were just another Ohio import .... and ML has lost contol.....if sissy CJ throws a punch in the Steelers locker room he is out on his ass....whether or not he can catch a football.....ML let that team get unglued last year in the playoffs and thats his job to keep it together...sorry ...just a fact

If the idiot cannot post reasonably without smack in a non-smack forum, why is the black-n-urine-for-brains punk permitted to continue to exist? Seriously ... uh ... boy ... take your fascinations elsewhere and go play with your terrible towel in private.

The disparities at offensive tackle, wide receiver, corner, and head coach are so glaring, NO home field could change the outcome.

I don't know that you can make too much out of the preseason. I believe KC is going to be a helluva way to open the season, and LJ IS going to test our newly vamped rushing D.

I agree, Ox - I hear alot of folks describing the scenery through their rose/striped glasses, but the simple facts of life are:

1) NFL parity is here to stay

2) On any given Sunday . . .

3) There is NO such thing as an "easy" away game

I believe the Bengals will win 10 - 12 games during the regular season this year, but KC won't be one of them. (I hope to hell I'm wrong!)

Chiefs 24 - Bengals 19

The more thought I put into this and the more I look into KC, the more I believe the Bengals are going to win the game as well. It might only be by a FG or TD, but I'm thinking they win by 10-14 points. I can't wait to see the starters getting at it the whole game and seeing just "how improved" our defense is...

WHODEY !!!

I'm assuming that you're a Cheifs fan with this post. I've been to Kansas City on game day... never inside the Stadium... but I know it's loud, and Palmer will have a tough time with audibles. However... the Home Field advantage isn't a concern to me. Denver is considered the best Home Field advnatage in the NFL. Do you just assume you're going to lose every time the Cheifs go there?

The point is... a crowd can be handled. It's really hard to get excited about your team if you fall behind early. This game isn't a freebie, but it is the best possible time to catch the Cheifs. Even though the pre-season is meaningless... they aren't crisp or fluent with all the changes yet.

Here is the main reason I believe the Bengals are going to win:

Although Herm Edwards will make that defense much better... he will do so at the expense of the offense. He never puts the defense in a bad situation... and does so by calling a ridiculously conservative game. That offense will not put up as many points as it has in the past. We will still be able to score on the defense... and we won't get run on as badly as last year. Herm Edwards will be forced out of his comfort zone, get caught up in a shoot out... and we'll beat KC with more experience.
