Pissburgh trying oh so hard to ignore the Bengals and Palmer

Well, it took me only about 1 hour of listening time to get the message from Urine Land. The morning sports talk (starts at 10 a.m. eastern) had the hosts praising Palmer and mentioning how high the concern should be. But not for the listeners. Email and email, and caller and caller, all the same. Palmer is "a good QB". The Packers are "horrible" and made the Bengals "look good". Palmer "looked ok" but "a bit shaky on the knee at times". "The off-field problems will ruin them" On and on and on. Oh, then the Cowher press conference. Asked if he watched the Bengals and Palmer last night and, if so, what he thought of Palmer. His reply? Something along the lines of, "Yeah, I watched a little and he looked good, but I wanted to see Agassi and watched that." Then there was another comment by Cowher concerning Agassi. Hmmm ... trying to ignore the obvious guys? Something tells me there is a big dose of reality about to hit the Black and Urine real soon.

Bring it.

What I would expect from ANY team fanbase when asked about their rival... I've been telling the Cowboys fans down here how much they suck and how playing the Saints and 49er's = playing some JUCO team and they are going to suck. The truth of it is, they will be pretty good...

WHODEY !!!

As good as the Bengals looked last night, and it's a good sign, it is still the preseason.

BUT, you know the Squealer fans didn't want to see that performance by Carson last night.

Keep up the updates duus. You da man behind the enemy lines....

While I was duly impressed with the Bengals last night, I don't see any cause for Steelers fans to get extra-anxious. They already knew (or at least should have known) that a heathy Palmer and Bengals offense is going to be the same big challenge it was last season. Maybe the improved D might tick concern up a notch, but that's the NFL.

Really, the Bengals did exactly what they should have done last night, which was to dominate a lesser team at home. That's certainly worth some props, but the regular season is going to bring a whole different caliber of foe. I think the Bengals are up to the challenge -- but I don't expect to see a lot of 31-0 Bengals leads in the second quarter, either.

Shrug. Do you really think professionals waste their time in preseason worrying about what the other guys look like on TV? That's for us fans. Cowher has a team to look after, he can't be spending time wringing his hands over how the Bengals looked in a preseason game. And Steelers fans care most about the Steelers.

The Bengals looked sharp, real sharp. And they DO need to pay attention to off-field issues.

Big Sam isnt going to get bullied out there. They cant throw to the TE with M. Williams and Dexter back there. If they cant run are throw to the TE. Bens going to have to win the game for them in a Shoot out. Alot chances to pound the hell out of him. This guy couldnt find his ass with two hands. He is going to get killed.

The simple fact is that we are a better team than they are. We were last year and they cheap shoted us. Wether it was Kimo being to overly agressive is the real ?, or Cowher was feeling the pressure and knew he needed it to get by Palmer to get to the superbowl. They knew they were good enough to beat the rest of the AFC. Totally classless.

Jeez...settle down there sparky. Yeah, Kimo injured Carson last yr and it ended our season in the worst possible way, but wishing for a career-ending injury on any player(clean hit or not) is just completely classless. It's not like Ben did anything himself to Carson. This is a new season with new hopes...let the past go. There's nothing productive in dwelling on it.

Time to move on and kick some ass this yr. Hit them where it hurts, in the Loss column. I would much rather sweep the Steelers this yr than lose to them and have Ben go out with an injury. As I see it, I want us to beat the Stealers such that their obnoxious fans have no excuses. I don't want them using the same excuses we gave them after our playoff loss(even though I do agree that we were extremely likely to win that game with Palmer).

Enough with the negativity already...last night was frickin great. We're lookin to have a great yr.

WHO-DEY!!! :bengal:

Thats why Pitsburgh beat us. They bullied us. The Only thing you can do is beat the hell out of them right back. Dont you think are players arent going to give to im as hard as they can. This is a Marvin Lewis D. To be a great D you have to be willing to hurt people. Welcome to the NFL!

Hey, I have to agree with this. The biggest thing about the collective black-n-urine fanbase that I hate the most is how obnoxious and absolutely caveman-like their words are. I do not want my team's fans to ever get even close to that. Big kudos for this level of censorship as I believe it will help us to maintain a high class of fan discussion. I have more passion than anyone toward the city of Pissburgh and the Steelers, but I would under no circumstances wish ill on them. I hate them. I hate them. I hate them. But I do not want to become them. Never. I just want what they have, but not at the cost of being like their fans. Never.

Keep it coming! This is going to be a fantastic year.

No one seems to knock the redskins down for having sean taylor on the team, the cowboys,Ravens and steelers both had fair share of character issues and won superbowls.I think Bengals character issues are preatty minor compared to other players chris henry was worst with gun charge.Odell just needs have pollack pee for him.

This is just preseason so I dont care if the Steelers are taking notice or not. But even if it is preseason the fact that Palmer did what he did, with the scamble and taking shots and getting back up, was great.

I'm thinking ESPeeN ratings were as high in Pitt & Balt as they were in Cinti., since 60,000 of our fan base went to the game. I lurked on their sites after the game, very derogatory in Pitt, but Balt. was complimentory for the most part. After all, its only preseason, but was a big boost for Bengaland.

Don't know if this really fits in this thread or not... but I didn't think it was worth starting a new thread.

My father is big into fantasy football. He wins a good deal of money every year doing it, so he spends money on high-priced expert sites that help him study and win his leagues.

I don't like fantasy numbers much. I don't think they are an indicator of really good football, but I still figured this was worth mentioning.

Before Monday nights game, this site was worried about Palmer not being able to match last year, and had him the 9th ranked QB. Now... He's #2. What a difference a day makes!

Seems like everyone believes but the Steelers. Personally, I think that's good news. It will make that week 3 victory that much more sweet.
