MacD BengalFan Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Your the offensive coordinator and your star QB is ready to play in his first game since a devastating knee injury in January. He has seen limited contact in practice and has missed the first two pre-season games because he has not felt comfident in his knee. So what series of plays do you start off with? Do you start him conservative with some hand-offs, or do you let him loose and have him go deep early and ofter?I personally have mixed feeling about this. I want to see Carson go deep early to send a message to the rest of the league that he is truly ready. But with his reported lack of confidence on his knee taking a hit, I would expect for him to be eased into it. So, what do all you arm-chair offensive coordinators do? Go deep early, or hand off and save the bombs for later? Quote
dchyde Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 I say go for the gusto and call the exact same play that caused Palmer and Henry's injuries seven months ago. Only this time they don't get hurt. This time it's a touchdown. Just think how sweet that would be for both players' psyches. But of course, it'll be a boring hand-off to Rudi for a loss. Unimaginative bastards.... Quote
WhoDey93285 Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 You've got to go deep first play...To Henry. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Well, if it's to show to the league (as stated) that Carson is back... Have him scramble out of the pocket and throw a pass back over the middle on the run. ESPN won't be able to stop talking about how Carson was able to move and still hit his target after coming off a serious injury such a short time ago !!! That being said, I hope he hands off to Rudi !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
CantStop85 Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Play action, deep to Henry, TD...what could be sweeter? Quote
Kazkal Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 First play 60 yard td pass to Chad ....pack expects 3 handoffs Quote
walshfan Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 run play, run play, run play....we'll fool em!!! Quote
derekshank Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 First play... The reverse to Chad who goes wide, and then throws a long pass to none other than CARSON PALMER!!! who then sprints down the sideline for a TD!Or else, hand off to Rudi. Either is fine with me. Quote

semiotter Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 1ST play should be call time out get your ass off the feild cuz its to early to be back on the playing field. It takes longer than 7 1/2 to 8 months to heal something like what he had done to him!!! Quote
Ox Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 I'm partial to a bomb to Henry myself. I have a feeling it will be a handoff on the first play though. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 I like Army's idea, send him out on a bootleg and dart one across the middle. Show everyone in the world what their in for. it'll have the rest of the league wanting to just give us the trophy. I get a chubby just thinking about a rollout Quote
gbengals Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Start off slow but not a running play. Start off by throwing timing passes like slants and hooks. This will help him gain more confidence than handing the ball off, but is also a low risk play than just throwing it deep. Quote
cincy9275 Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 you let carson do what he always does see what the defense is trying to do then attack it . if it's a long pass fine if it's a hand off fine too . just to see how he functions in a live game is more important to me than what play to run . Quote
bengalskyspy Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 I am afraid I will start bawling like a girl if he steps back a throws a long one complete to Henry. It will be a very emotional moment for all. Can't wait. Quote

pedroza29 Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 I would let Carson call the plays himself. No huddle. Whatever he feels comfortable doing, let him do it. Quote
CJBestInAFC Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Anyone happen to catch the Steeler's no huddle offense? What a comedy? The Steelers looked like crap expecially the D getting beat deep. Quote
DesperateDerelict Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Rudi Right, Rudi Left, Draw play, punt => I think it'll take Carson AT LEAST 3 or 4 series to find his rythm. Quote
