HoosierCat
I didn't watch the entire game, but I did hear Troy Aikman comment on something we'd kicked around a few weeks ago. Aikman stated during the broadcast that Chief OLT Kyle Turley was much lighter than the Chiefs were claiming, and in Aikmans opinion Turley was currently no bigger than 270-275 lbs. I tell ya, a Justin Smith bull rush is a very beautiful thing. The Aikman comments that stuck with me last night were those as the second half wound down and KC hadn't done squat. He was down with the "it's only preseason" mantra, but specifically added about the offense that teams would still like to get some stuff going just to build some confidence moving into the regular season. He made that point several times -- basically every time KC failed to get something going. What that's worth, I dunno, but the bottom line is that for whatever reason KC has looked like warmed-over turds so far, and if they look like that come week 1 I will not complain.kurgan: yeah, that's what I thought, their o-line is hurting. As Hair might say...good times.
BlainThePain
And Webster looked pretty good in the regular season until he got hurt. Same with Caleb. So what's your point? If you need more, Akili Smith looked good in the pre-season, too. I admit that my memory isn't so good, but I don't remember Webster or Miller ever looking good during the regular season.
rudi32
I remember last preseason when the Eagles pretty much had their way with the Bengals. Don't judge a team by its preseason.

Dan2330
If I am not mistaken, Indianapolis Colts were either 0-4 or 0-5 last year in pre-season....enough saidWell not quite enough, the only concern I would have right now with the Chiefs is if I get first pick in my Fantasy League- got to wonder if Larry Johnson will have great year with that weak line
Stripes
I took Tomlinson with the first overall pick. I doubt the Chiefs will look this bad when the time comes to play them at Arrowhead, but I am breathing a bit easier regardless. They look like a beatable team even if we don't have our Golden Boy. cincy9275
i know that the preseason can be misleading . the chiefs were playing there starters and they looked flat out terrible on both sides of the ball . i mean there o-line has some serious problems and there defense could not stop anyone . i really don't think the chiefs will a very good team this season . there o-line is going to be there down fall if your q/b and r/b are consistently getting up from being hit in the backfield your not going to win a lot of games . BengalChamps
Don't even start dreaming that KC will be weak. I happen to like Herm Edwards as a coach. LJ scares me. Trent Green scares me. Tony gonzalez scares me. There home field advantage scares me. Regardless of their preseason look, they will be jacked up for opening day. Anyone know what the Vegas line is? I bet KC is favored by 3.

Beerfish
Herm Edwards is not a good coach.- Lets players get away with murder as far as conditioning and injury rehab goes.- Horrible at clock management- Terribly conservative. He's a good interview though. rudi32
Edwards is a bad coach? He only guided the Jets to the playoffs three times in five years.

I'm going LT. Too many questions with the Chiefs. Don't forget they also lost their o coordinator. Makes you wonder how LJ will do.
derekshank
Edwards is not a bad coach. I think he's probably a bit over-rated... but he's not bad. I doubt Ty Law would follow him to KC if he were flat out bad.The one thing nice about Edwards being new in KC though is that we have them week 1. It is a new system for all of those guys. New head coach, new O-Coordinator, and same old bad defense. If we're going to have to go play @KC, I'd prefer it be week 1.
schweinhart
Saw on KFFL where KC newspaper reports Chris Bober may be the starting RG and Will Svitek the RT. Gotta figure that means Will Shields goes to LG and Brian Waters kicks out to LT. But we'll see. Just so long as there's some disarray along the KC front early, the Bengals might be able to steal one at Arrowhead to kick off the year. I can't remember a bigger season opener for the Bengals. HoosierCat
Merged this thread with the same discussion that went on on the main board. Lot of good thoughts, IMHO.I agree, schweiny, sounds like we're catching KC at the right time, before they can gel. Still, you know they are going to pound the ball on the ground, so I hope Adams is right that the D will be up to challenge of stopping them by then. ArmyBengal
L. Johnson has been running off the right most of pre-season since Roaf is gone now, but I have to agree with having as much confusion up front early in the season is a good thing when going INTO Kansas City to play...WHODEY !!! HoosierCat
This is from our f2fa.com Chief's partner, after their second game (the one that spawned this thread). So they were definitely not happy with the way things had been going...http://wildbillschiefs.com/cgi-bin/comment...lay&num=
Stripes
I think this Chiefs game is starting to look a lot like the Vikings game did last season. A supposed Superbowl contender suddenly finds itself facing all sorts of problems, facing the Bengals very early in the year. I wouldn't be surprised to see us steamroll them, but it's still on the road.
HoosierCat
I would be surprised by a blowout. I think the offense will be able to score, but KC still has a formidable amount of offensive firepower of their own. They were the No. 6 scoring and No. 1 yardage offense last season. Our defense ought to be better...but it better be a *lot* better to stand up to that. Fortunately, their unsettled o-line ought to work in our favor opening day. But I still think it ends up a close and fairly high-scoring game, something like 31-27.
Tasher
I think both teams will be 2-0 when we meet 9/24Really? Miami looks awesome and Jax is pretty strong both offensively and defensively.Oh, and now you don't have a quarterback either...
Kazkal
I took shaun with the 1st overall pick,Him and LT have had about same yardage / TD's till last season so they should be 1n2 no matter what.
