skyline Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Yeah, that was pretty fun to watch. I loved seeing all the excitement in the stands Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 They are showing the game here in San Antonio because of Houston and I couldn't help but notice how empty the ballpark looked yesterday !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 I was listening to the Houston radio broadcast and they kept commenting all through the game on how empty the stadium was. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 Yep, my wife and I were watching and that was the first thing she noticed. MANY EMPTY SEATS !!! Funny how a team in the hunt had what appeared to be less than half a ballpark of fans during a divisional game.WHODEY !!! Quote
semiotter Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 OMG top of the 4th and its 12-0 reds.....woo hoo Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 23, 2006 Author Report Posted August 23, 2006 4 more homers tonight and Lohse get the easy win on a 14-0 shutout !!!Lohse gets three hits of his own for the night and the Cards lose their game pulling the Reds within 1 in the NL Central !!! Again, another night with what looked to be a pretty empty ballpark. Michalak gets the start tomorrow for the sweep...WHODEY !!!On this whole "empty park thing, I found this on the box score page...8/21 24,110 in attendance 57.3% full8-22 22,556 in attendance 53.6% fullI don't know how those numbers stack up over the season, but they don't seem that good...WHODEY !!! Quote
Stripes Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Michalak will be up against Oswalt... Tough matchup for anyone. 14-0 though... Dayum! Lohse has looked awesome so far... He has some nasty stuff that I'm not used to seeing in our rotation. Quote
skyline Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 I can't believe the Dodgers have lost 2 in a row to the Padres. Our wild card lead would be pretty significant, otherwise. Quote
semiotter Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Well on the empty ballpark thing, school is back in most places high gas prices i think add up to hurt. But dang its been a long time and we are in this hunt.Where the hell are ya REDS fans???? Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Although my memory is a bit fuzzy(clouded haze constantly hovers on my brain ) I think the Enquierer ran an online poll about this recentyl. I think the main reason was lack of faith in the team producing a winner. it'll take a while to win the fans back. If you do make it to the playoffs and the stadium isn't full, then I'll be embarrassed. Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 I would just like to take this moment to say that Cincy has the same number of wins at St. Louis. Granted, Cincy has played two more games than the cards and lost both of them, but it is freaking August 23rd and the Reds are tied for most wins in the division! The Mets are already up 4 - 0 on the Cards in the second inning. If the Cards lose, we'll still be just ONE GAME OUT. Wow. These are the Cincinnati Reds, right? Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 24, 2006 Author Report Posted August 24, 2006 Yep, the Reds are playing some decent ball, but let a 2-0 lead slip away stupidly, then Coffey wants to argue calls and got thrown out with bases loaded and a 3-1 count. I felt bad for Franklin who then came in and walked home a run with limited time to warm up...WHODEY !!! Quote
skyline Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Well, the loss was disappointing yesterday (especially how it happened), but hey...we won the series. Can't ask for much more than that.Hopefully things start off well tonight against San Fran. They're tough at home, so this could be a difficult series. Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 No help from the freakin' Cubbies last night. Was watching that game, Cubs wasted a great outing by Guzman with poor hitting and base running. So the Phillies keep creeping up. Oh well at least St. Louis lost. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 24, 2006 Author Report Posted August 24, 2006 I'll tell you, the way the other teams are stepping up, our sights might best be set on the division crown as opposed to the wild card. The Cards haven't been playing well and we are playing consistent ball (winning series)... 10 game west coast trip to SF, LAD, and SD. Series wins for all three would be great !!! This to is an important stretch...WHODEY !!! Quote
Stripes Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 I expect the D-backs and the other NL West wild card contenders to fall out of the race any day now. I'm worried about the Phillies though... and don't forget about the Brewers. We're still breathing down the Cards' neck... might not matter in the end. Quote
crttylr Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Cardinals are taking the division!!!! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 30, 2006 Author Report Posted August 30, 2006 No, the Reds are giving it away !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
crttylr Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 No, the Reds are giving it away !!!WHODEY !!!THAT IS THE FUNNIEST THING I HAVE HEARD EVER!!!!!!! Quote
Stripes Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 No, the Reds are giving it away !!!WHODEY !!!THAT IS THE FUNNIEST THING I HAVE HEARD EVER!!!!!!! I have a feeling Army wasn't expecting that. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 Tickle tickle !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 Well, thank God the Reds have a freakin night off...They come back tomorrow night to close out the west coast trip with Arroyo on the mound and going against a Padres team that has been playing pretty good ball. Here's hoping they can pull their heads out of their 5th point of contact !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
crttylr Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Well, thank God the Reds have a freakin night off...They come back tomorrow night to close out the west coast trip with Arroyo on the mound and going against a Padres team that has been playing pretty good ball. HoosierCat Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 Hey, they're up in the 5th tonight...Scary thing is they've lost 6 straight and still are within spitting distance of the wild card. NL sucks. Quote
