Steinbach charged with boating DUI on Ohio River

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Bengals left guard Eric Steinbach was arrested Saturday night and charged with a operating a boat under the influence of alcohol on the Ohio River. He was arrested by an officer with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Steinbach was stopped for speeding by the officer in the idle-only speed zone between the Interstate 75 and Interstate 471 bridges, Mark Marraccini, spokesman for the agency, said tonight. The officer ran Steinbach through a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed, Marraccini said. At that point, Steinbach was arrested and taken to the Campbell County Jail. He refused a breath test. The Bengals do not comment on ongoing legal issues involving their players. Steinbach practiced Monday night.

 Maybe ESteinbach is pissed about not getting contract extension, or maybe he was just relaxing on his boat catching fish and having a cold one who knows, with all the adversity that this team is going through now we must be destined to win the SB  ...

Wow lets let a probowl guard go because he was drinking well fishing like 95% of america does.

Your right he is a probowler. If your thinking I want Steinbach gone that's where your wrong. Everyone gets mad over $h*+ like that. But not you. I guess your happy about this.

Let the man fish and have a cold one. I don't blame the guy for wanting to relax. It's not like he was giving beer to underage girls on his boat.

I doubt this one sits too well with the organization. It's halfway through training camp and there's old Einsteiny out goofing up on the water. You'd think he might have a little more sense than put himself in the position at this time in the year.

They probably will hand down some punishment to him. Probably just go through the motions and not start him for some game to be determined later in the season.

But what could be worse punishment for him than Whitworth going in as the starting LG for the 1st preseason game and indeed beating him out for the season, which would hit Einsteiny square in the wallet big time. That 6-pack could cost him a couple $million come free agency if Whitworth does get that chance and shows he's smart enough and quick enough because he's definitely much stronger than Steinbach.

Wow, you certainly have a lot of faith in a guy who's never played a down of pro ball. YOu expect him to step in for the first pre-season game at a new position and beat out a PROBOWLER?

Wait a second, weren't you one of the guys pissed about the pick bcause he wasn't good enough?

When it rains, it pours. This would've barely made a ripple a year ago.

But refusing the breath test was dumb.

Actually, no it wasn't. It gives his lawyer more to work with getting Steiny off the hook.

I grew up right on the river, boated and drank a million times and never been caught. I've had buddies let off a thousand times for this. I might get battered because of the Henry thread, but this is horses**t. I think these guys saw a pro football player, and wanted to arrest a "famous person"

There's fish alive in the Ohio River???

Yes, only because the Cuyahoga River runs north thru Cleveland to Lake Erie. :lmao:
