BengalChamps
I was listening to the Angry Guy, Richard Skinner, and he said on his radio show this morning that Odell's suspension will be more than 4 games. I did not catch him listing a source, so maybe he's just trying to be controversial. He was talking about the Bengals will need to find a longer term solution to the Odell absence in the middle of our defense. Has anyone else heard this rumor? ArmyBengal
The league set the suspension of 4 games, but if the team wants to give an additional suspension, it is at their discretion. I'm hoping not !!!WHODEY !!!
GROIIIDayton
Are you sure the NFL set the suspension yet? I think they just know he is going to be suspended.
The_Next_Big_Thing
It really doesn't matter. Landon Johnson can get the job done. A move of Simmons inside just means they suspect that Landon can get it done better on the outside than simmons too.

A move of Simmons inside just means they suspect that Landon can get it done better on the outside than simmons too.Landon's not as good as Odell was in his rookie year. He's certainly not as good as Odell is likely to be in his second year. He's a backup for a reason. A good backup to be sure, but a backup. And more importantly, it kills our depth at LB. Sure, LJ can step in and start without too much dropoff, but we don't have the luxury of having him come off the bench. Now who comes off the bench? Miller? No thanks. GROIIIDayton
A. Brooks will come off the bench more often then you think.
ArmyBengal
I think Brroks is about to get more playing time than he thought he would. Can't say as that bothers me much. Nicholson as well. Well, at least we will get to see what we've got !!! To tell you the truth, it's kind of exciting !!! This is NOT an invitation to discuss the 3-4, but "IF" they all come around well, can you imagine Pollack, Thurman, Brooks, and Nicholson as our LB corps ?? Could be scary good !!!WHODEY !!! kingwilly
I think this means Nicholson will get on the field sooner than later, granted he stays on the team and gets past his issues.Landon is better than B-Simm, but we'll know more in training camp. markymark69
The league has not announced the suspension to my knowledge, but the limit is four games, I did not hear that segment in which Skinner was talking about this, but my guess is, that if there is any validity to this, the additional games could be team related. Just a guess on my part.
bengal4life
The thing with Brooks is I don't think he's completely back in football shape. Just like one of the articles I read said, "Brooks lost 30 pounds in 10 weeks." If your losing that much weight that quick your strength conditioning is going to be lacking. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think he will be on the field as soon as we'd like him to be.
buck3y3d
Landon is not as explosive, but he is much smarter.I got tired of Odell overpersuing and losing position. I'll take Landon as a solid replacement.

Can the other three stay on the field?
ArmyBengal
Hence the, "IF" they all come around", meaning if they keep their noses clean !!! That is like a next year or two thing in my mind anyway...WHODEY !!!

PMThor
We are all jumping the gun anyway. The league still hasn't suspended Odell yet. I find it quite odd that this rumor has been floating now for literally months, yet the league hasn't suspended him. So, I still don't think it is true. The league doesn't screw around with suspensions. They just announce them. What is with this wait? Stripes
The league doesn't screw around with suspensions. They just announce them. What is with this wait?It has been officially announced in a lot of places, including ESPN and Bengals.com. I was with you... I didn't buy the story at all, but I think we lose. It actually excites me to see these numbers when he is out of shape and think about what he will be able to do after working under NFL strength and conditioning coaches after a couple seasons. Give him another 3-4 months training with chip and he could be back to his '04 form. I hope this guy can stay clean and amount to his potential that could put us into the top 10 with a patriots style "D". I bet he could get his 40 time down to a 4.60 or upper 4.5's. I think that's right around where Hawk's 40 was.
ArmyBengal
The Odell rumor of suspension for the 1st 4 games is no rumor. It has been announced by numerous media outlets (ESPN) who have all stated the 4 game suspension at the beginning of the season was levied by the league.WHODEY !!! bengal4life
I heard Odell was riding his motorcycle and some old lady hit him and he had to have 7 hours of surgery.
