Jonboat
Just wondering if I may have missed any news on getting the o-line signed in the midst of all this bad PR.I'm hoping they will sign someone before camp & we can see what direction they're going to take.I know many thought Willie may go but with all this s**t going on now has anyone's opinions changed ? He's a leader in the clubhouse & would be a good role model for the rooks + a great player. Just a thought but maybe they gambled on some of these players so they get a discount & have some extra money to sign one more of the O-lineman.As far as the Rookies how much of a gamble are they really? didn't most of them drop a round or so? We got good talent for less money. They haven't even signed yet . With some of their problems couldn't there be clauses put into the contracts to protect the team ? The rookies are slotted, so they'll get what they get - a little more than the guy benind them, and a little less than the guy in front. Theoretically the Bengals get better players because of their problems. So no, it won't directly help sign the Oline. Also, it's now much more difficult to put in clauses to protect the team since the last collective bargaining agreement (CBA). There are strict limits on how much a player can be penalized for off the field troubles now. Specifically, they're not allowed to write in language saying the team can take back part of the signing bonus if the player acts like an idiot. Jonboat
Man , sounds like the players union really has teams hands tied no wonder some of these guys are idiots. I think the only way to get there attention is to hit them in the wallet they probably just look @ a suspension as a vacation!I agree they wouldn't save enough with the money they'll need to sign another o-lineman . I just want to see what you all thought was going to happen with the o-line it seems to have been kind of swept under the carpet with all the hoopla going on & I haven't seen anything.I think drafting Whitworth it's obvious someone is going to go personally I'd like to see Levi & Willie stay. Are they going to sign one of the O-lineman before camp & how long do they have to Tag a player ?
ArmyBengal
If Big Willie leaving means we can keep Bach and Levi.... Love ya Willie, but you gotta go !!!WHODEY !!!
Stripes
I don't think any of them will be signed until sometime during the season. I agree, as has been said since January and beyond, that Willie is the odd man out. I think he's our third best offensive lineman at this point anyways. Whitworth was a great pick, and I think he'll make his presence known a lot this year. The Dancing Bear and Kooistra will be there as well to keep the line as deep as ever, even with the loss of Willie and maybe even another guy. ArmyBengal
Honestly, I still think they can get at least one of Bach or Levi done and then tag the other while working on a long term deal...WHODEY !!!

ChadJohnson-85
Jones & Steinbach will most likely & hopefully will both get there contract extensions before camp but Anderson will most likely not be around long.
ArmyBengal
Levi is the one they say they are working on before camp, but I still say the tag is going to be used before it's all said and done... Then work on long term after that happens...WHODEY !!!
ShulaSteakhouse
Letting Steinbach go would be a mistake...that's all.

Willie is just one of my favorite players & with all issues going on he would be a good guy to have around . I'm just glad ML has been drafting O-linemen every year since he's been here , I think years of not drafting O-linemen was a big factor in a decade of losing. A true asset to this organization.WHODEY !!!It seems like if they think they're likely to use the franchise tag on a lineman, the smart thing would be to go after Steinbach since his contract would be smaller than Jones' but their franchise cost would be equal, right?
