chrishcovga
I say in 3 years, Cincinnati will have the 3 best Starting Linebackers in the Game. 1. O'Dell in the Middle. - Heir to the Ray Lewis throne of Interior linebackers.2. David Pollack as the Strong Side LB. - Eventually putting up Double Digit Sack Numbers as a part time Rush End.3. Ahmad Brooks as the WLB. With his incredible size, and athleticism, He will remind people of a Derrick Thomas/ Lawrence Taylor type player. NJ29
You think that you might find the time to updte your avy to a picture of Gaines Adams? I think that It'd be more appropriate, seeing as it would fit the theme of what you did last year.
chrishcovga
I always appreciate the Rover come lately response. I'll just take that as your way of saying , Hey' Chris, missed ya'. I have absolutely nothing better to post other than to inform you of the most obvious thing I could find wrong with your profile. Ah yes, the finger pointers, never realizing that while they point one at someone else, 3 are pointing back at themselves.

derekshank
I didn't care for the Nicholson pick at all (even though it was probably worth the risk in the 5th). I wasn't too pumped about the Rucker pick, since I'd never heard of him. However, count me as incredibly happy about the Brooks pick. Not only do we need LB depth (especially with the Odell suspension) but this guy is going to be special.I know there are character issues, and I know it seems like the sky is falling... but Marvin WILL make an example out of Henry at the first possible moment. This has been the most embarassing off-season for the Bengals since Marvin got here. Do we really think that Marvin hasn't noticed this? Do we really think that Marvin is so out of touch that he is ignoring these problems and continues taking character risk guys with no plan for getting through to them?Henry is good as gone. Odell will get his ass kicked, and Brooks will realize very quick that if he likes playing football, he'll have to get his act together. In my opinion, the very fact that we took another character risk guy after this debacle of an off-season tells me that Marvin is going to do something very drastic, if for no other reason than as a PR move. And probably more importantly, to get the message across to his players that he doesn't put up with it.He already sat Henry and Odell for 1 game each last year... so we know he's willing to crack down on them. He's going to come down really hard on at least one guy, and probably find ways to further punish Odell so he can show these guys he isn't messing around. We're in the mid-west, so the character issues are magnified... and there is no doubt we've taken some calculated risks. I'm not downplaying the fact that it is a problem... ...BUT I do honestly believe that we still have more high-quality veterans than we do bad guys. Good guys just don't make the headlines. Palmer, Pollack, Madieu, Willie, Rudi, T.J... these are incredible locker-room guys. Housh specifically came from a very rough past, and has really gotten himself together. If he can rub off on Brooks specifically, I think we might have a great player on our hands.

The thought that this is possible along with the offense means the bengals will be contending deeply into the playoffs in the near future. Can coach Lewis steer this volatile ship? Pollack may get moved to DE. Odell needs to prove he can go a full season without a disciplinary action by the coach/league. Brooks need to prove the knee is healthy and go regain his freshmen form.On paper though, it looks nice.
Dadraftnick
The worst knock on Brooks aside from the love for mary jane is that he would not study game films, he would not prepare for opponents,he would do what it takes to be ready for a game.He felt that he could do it all on his own ability. I think there are many players out there that when they are young, they feel their ability and athleticism will carry them through. Later, most come to realize this is not usually the case and get to what they know is going to continue their success at the next level.WHODEY !!! BengalsDieHard1
OK, a month after the drafting of Brooks I was wrong with my prediction. He has stayed clean and looks good in training camp(according to the reports and you guys, I can't see much here in west central Maryland). From what I hear he has the natural ability to be the next Ray Lewis...and a little taller, bigger, and stronger.....my oh my! Unlimited potential.........Just like Maurice Clarett, who just thew all of his potential down the drain. He will be doing 5-10 on the Ohio chain gang.....damn shame. I recenty saw the interview with Shanahan on NFL net, and he said that he and alot of the vet players really tried to help Clarett to.......basically just to help him with his problems...and he shunned them all. And look at him now.So, I'm jumping off the "sky is falling bandwagon"......Army<<<!!! And now by week 3, I expect Brooks to be stuffing quarterbacks and taking names(whatch out titanium jaw)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......And we will keep Larry Johnson to under 100 yds in week 1 !!!!!!!.....now thats damn positive thinking!!!Oh yeah, while I'm raving, I do think ML is starting CP way to soon......A disaster waiting to happen...and I really...really...really hope not. Let that acl, mcl, dcl, ldl, hdl heal to 100 %(Im not a Doc)GO BENGALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! chrishcovga
Takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I'm really looking to see what this kid can do with Marvin's motivation behind him. He's already a physical monster and look who he'll be playing next to.1. Brian Simmons - one of the most underrated and intelligent linebackers in the game. He should have been turned loose like Takeo and Francis were in their early Bengal Careers.2. O'Dell Thurman - I know he's a wild ass of a Georgia Boy, especially since I work with his cousins and such. But can't knock what he does on the football field.3. David Pollack - I never liked the idea of turning one of the Best if not best DE in college into a linebacker, but Pollack has a tremendous work ethic , and the athleticism to at least excel as a pass rusher.Ahmad Brooks was Mr. Everything in college and in the state of Virginia. Few young men have a great work ethic. A good kick in the pants in the right direction never hurt.
