which teams are each on...im too lazy to look em up. abdullah is good to see playing...he is prolly the best of them all...i dont think he got a fair chance in cincy...when he was drafted he had a shot but then got injured and when he returned, he was too far down on the depth chart to make an impact due to signings during his injury. wonder if he does good if he'll get a shot in the nfl...he was good on special teams.

Which ones caught your eye????

Plenty of familiar names, but sadly...no Robert Bean. :lmao:

The first name that jumped out at me is Keyou Craver, but that's only because I remember how often Joisey held the Bengals feet to the fire because they didn't draft him in the 3rd round of some long forgetten draft. To be fair, my boy Ike Charlton also showed up...so I have no room to make fun. And yet I do.

And who could forget JoJuan Armour?*

*It's a trick question.

Freddie Childress??? Wow, that is amazing, good find.

I'm amazed at how long some of these guys play, Bracey Walker playing for Detroit not too long ago was another example. (think he ended up with a 14 year career?)

Mr. Bean is currently on the Winnepag Blue Bombers practice squad. :lmao:

Sure is nice to have some depth on the Bengals, that might actually stick on other NFL teams.

Anybody else hear this about "controversial linebacker Kyries Herbert", who, according to this link from PFT, was *this* close to signing with the Bengals a couple of months ago. After having been recently "charged with felony assault in Texas". So, as bad as the press has been with Henry, Nicholson and Rucker at least this is one turd we didn't step in.

In case you can't get the article, here are the pertinent bits:

"The former Ottawa defender, who signed a high-priced, five-year contract extension with the Renegades after the 2005 season and was later charged with felony assault in Texas, was not taken in the April dispersal draft in spite of being viewed as one of the CFL's premier young players. He was then placed on waivers, per CFL bi-laws, and, after lengthy internal discussions, the Bombers decided to "claim" the 6-3, 215-pounder on the last day before the seven-day waiting period expired. ... The 25-year-old Louisiana Lafayette graduate was in Cincinnati in April, where he was on the verge of signing with the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals when he learned that he had been claimed (by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers) only hours before the CFL deadline expired."

Walker is still on the Detroit roster as their backup strong safety. He is indeed entering his 14th season at the ripe age of 36!

I didn't know the Lions got traded to the CFL. They ought to, as long as Millen's running the team.

The guy on the list those rosters that stood out is Issac Hilton - HE IS GOOD !!

He went to a small school (Hampton)but,in '02 he had 78 tackles,31 tackles for loss,13 sacks

6-4 270 4.59 40yd dash had 31 reps of 225 which is was in the top of DE's compaired to by many to Hugh Douglas.

If we picked him up he would be the best pass rusher on the team.

Does anyone know if we are allowed to pick up guys from the CFL or do they have to play out their contract.

A couple of the other guys that stood out on those rosters was QBEric Crouch,QB Spergon Wynn,Ike Charlton,R-Kal Trulak

Spergon Wynn played decently in the chances he had in the NFL,I wouldn't mind us giving him a tryout.

Ike Charlton was an All-American.

R-Kal was not bad at rushing the passer.

That is what I was saying Can we pick them up?

For example , an NCAA basketall coach may have a contract at a small school with 3 years left in his contract and leave for a larger school.

The CFL is not in this country and they play at a different time of year.

Does the NFL have some kind of a deal with the CFL to allow the players to playout their contract before they offer them a contract?

I know we have a former CFL guy on the roster now LB Rashad Jenty, who I think if he gets a shot could be a real steal.

Hilton could devolop into something,I think they gave up on him because he was so green.

The second team often gets the gold on the project players, just like we will likely cut OT Stacy Andrews this year and who ever picks him up will probably get a guy that devolop into something.

Warren Moon was in the CFL I think he turned out OK

Thiesman was in the CFL he turned out OK

I know it not fair to point to some of the few guys that were CFL players that were NFL stars but, the point is few CFL guys get a shot in the NFL especially if they started off in the NFL before going to the CFL.

I have seen tapes of this guy and what I saw he can play and he is strong and had decent size.

You know how it is some times guys get lost in a roster battle or depth chart.

Steve Largent "wasn't good enough" to make an NFL roster for a couple of years until he did and ended up in the Hall of Fame.

Similar story for Kurt Warner with out the HOF.

Nah, I was saying "He's in the CFL!!!!" as in, "That's all we need to know about his ability level."

Rest in Peace Nick Goings? The ex-buckeye RB and current RB with the Carolina Panthers? I saw that on the bottom of your signature and can't find anything about it.

My mistake. To anyone else that was confused, I'm not referring to the NFL player.

You didn't say he deserved a shot, you said he would be the team's best pass rusher.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was looking around for info on that, too. Sorry to hear about 17-year-old Nick, though... :(

Just an FYI for those interested...

Freddie Childress is retiring this offseason.

He played his last year this year with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

And also, Milt Stegall and Jason Tucker are some pretty hot hands...I dont care what league. Do some searches on YouTube.

The talent level in the CFL is way higher than most of you would probably think. There's numerous guys in the CFL that have the talent to play NFL ball...but aren't the NFL mold (height, weight, whatever).

Not to mention that the CFL and NFL have different needs at different positions because of the difference in rules.

But all in all...the talent level in the CFL is second only to the NFL...and not by a whole lot.

As Ricky Williams said after coming up here and finding out just how tough it is..."90% of the players in the NFL are best suited for the NFL, and 90% of the guys in the CFL are best suited for the CFL"...and "the talent level is comparable between the leagues."

Hey Chaps, I know you went to a lot of trouble to go back looking for anything on this site that might have had something to do with CFL to prove to us its value... but I think you'll find that most of us just don't care.

Are there players in the CFL that could be playing in the NFL? Sure... but until they actually do (like Jeanty) you'll find most of us to be sufficiently dispassionate enough to ignore every one of them. Sorry... the NFL is king around here, not the CFL.

Milt Stegall owns almost all recieving records in the CFL.

He has a couple yeah...he's definately a guy who would have had no problem playing at a high level in the NFL.

Chris Berman once stated that if he had to build a team around one franchise player, it would be Milt Stegall. All the other guys of course picked big NFL names, and Berman picked Stegall of the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers. That was about 3 years ago I think.

Obviously. But you also should have noticed I didn't start the thread...

And a lot of trouble? I did a search for 'CFL' to see what players had connections on the team. If typing 3 letters and hitting submit is a lot of work for ya...you need to get to the gym bud ;)

Well... this particular thread hadn't been touched since June. So, by "a lot of trouble" I guess I could mean that I find it strange that you would think anyone was interested enough currently in a CFL topic that hadn't been discussed since the middle of the dead part of the off-season.

It might not have been really "hard" to do... but you certainly went out of your way to post in 3 dead CFL related threads that hadn't been touched in months. Whatever though. I just thought I'd point out that I thought it was a strange thing to do.
