Dadraftnick Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 Is there any posters out there that are lawyers ??The Pittsburgh rag is refusing to retract the sliming of all of us.This is not the first time they have intentionaly lied and not retracted it.Example calling Odel a dirty player when their player had admitted that he tripped Odel into Rothelsburger.and they could have and should have at least looked at the replay BEFORE making a charge in black and white. They characterise us as though we are laughing as their QB lay on his death bed when the truth is early reports were that there was nothing serious.I dont think that they should get away with it.They do this kind of stuff all the time. They act like the spirit was in fun BULL$*#T intentionaly twisting someone's words and acusing us of laughing and wishing death on someone on their death bed is not a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If a Pitt fan found out we posted on this board a lie like that could get one of us or our families injuried or killed. We need a retraction or they could be served with a nice slander suit.Where do we go to get our good names back???FEDERAL DISTRICT COURT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm about 3/4 of the way serious. The pittsburgh rag wants to buy us all new cars, how about that .... ArmyBengal Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 Funny you should mention that... I was thinking along the lines of B24 filing suit, claiming his article has hurt the reputation of his board and caused his business to take a significant cut in hits. Thusly, he has began to suffer from depression and all sorts of mental anguish !!! How about a multi-million dollar lawsuit and then we could all hit Vegas at the expense of this Pittsburgh turd !!! Anyway, have a good one !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
Green 66 Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 why go to vegas we could just have actual pay out on the casino feature here on the boards...then i can pay my student loans off.Still dont hold your breath with the drive by media they are already looking for the next way to criticise bengal fans or create another controversy, its how you sell ad space which companies see as more important than the information in the papers. Its the media is getting little better than the checkout tabloids in some regards as a result.Mike GreenWaynesville Ohio Quote
Spor_tees Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 I say we use the money to get season tickets instead. B24 get the lawsuit ball rolling. Quote
andybren Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Move on. It's not worth the effort. And I suspect the site got more hits after being mentioned in a "mainstream" newspaper, even if they were just from Pittsburgh window lickers.Plus, it would difficult to prove that anybody's reputation was damaged, since hatred from one's opponents is usually a badge of honor. HoosierCat Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Move on. It's not worth the effort. We'd all love to, I'm sure. Unfortunately, Fib-ipaldo's crap is spawing new turdpiles:http://www.timesdispatch.com/servlet/Satel...188571650&path=Ugly words pierce armor of civilityPAUL WOODYTIMES-DISPATCH COLUMNISThe question is intriguing if you are in the public eye and have an e-mail address or dare to look at Internet message boards. What is wrong with people?Soon after the news of the motorcycle accident of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger became known last week, Internet message boards began to fill with comments. Some of these comments did not wish Roethlisberger well or express concern for a fallen competitor. To question whether Roethlisberger showed good judgment by riding a motorcycle - without a helmet - is legitimate. To say that Roethlisberger deserved his injuries, that the Steelers had this coming, is disturbing. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette did two things about this, one of them good, one of them not so good. The not-so-good thing was to publish some of the comments that appeared on Bengalsforum.com. as well as on Web sites loyal to other NFL teams. The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the Steelers' rivals in the AFC North Division.Publicizing these ugly comments only encourages some people to make more comments. The good thing the Post-Gazette did was to interview Dr. Paul Friday, director of clinical psychology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shady Side. Friday said the people who made these ugly comments had brains that are not fully developed. Many have long suspected that to be the case. Few have been bold enough to express it for the record. Friday might not want to publicize his e-mail address for a while.Bengals fans think they have a right, perhaps even an obligation, to criticize the Steelers and wish ill for Roethlisberger. Some Cincinnati fans remain angry that Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer suffered a serious knee injury early in a playoff game against the Steelers last season. It is far from certain that former Steelers defensive end Kimo von Oelhoffen had injurious intent in his mind on the play. And taking glee in someone else's misfortune hardly is a sign of humanity or sportsmanship. These angry Bengals fans might want to focus on problems in Cincinnati.Speaking of someone whose brain does not appear to have fully matured, please meet Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry.Since last December, Henry has: pled guilty to marijuana charges and avoided jail time by completing a drug rehabilitation program; been charged with carrying a concealed weapon after he allegedly pulled a handgun on a group of people in Orlando, Fla., in January; was charged with speeding and drunken driving June 4; and Wednesday was charged with providing alcohol to three underage females.Other than that, young Mr. Henry, 23, has been behaving himself. The give-and-take between fans, and players, is part of what is enjoyable about sports. But there are limits.Take the Germans and the Poles, for instance. The people of those countries have a bit of history between them. Germany's invasion of Poland in 1939 began a little engagement that became known as World War II.Last week, Germany and Poland met in a World Cup soccer match. There was plenty of chanting. There was good-natured jostling among the fans as they entered the stadium.Three hundred people were arrested in the town of Dortmund, Germany, where the game was played, in an effort to prevent violence.Police were emphatic that inside the stadium, everyone got along. If German and Polish soccer fans can do that in the highly-charged atmosphere of a World Cup venue, is it too much to ask certain American sports fans to at least be civil in cyberspace? And if that is too difficult, we're sure Dr. Friday can offer referrals where help is available.Contact staff writer Paul Woody at pwoody@timesdispatch.com or (804) 649-6444.Awesome rip job on Bengals fans there, Woody. Where's CT Stiller? Wasn't he eventually arguing that Fib-ipaldo's story wasn't focused on Bengals fans but all NFL fans? Well, seems at least one observer didn't see it that way. Tell me, CT, are we still taking this "way too seriously?" Quote
Stripes Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 How do they get the site name wrong again? These people really need to research their theories before they go and spit out whatever insults they feel like distributing. One visit to the site would be enough, and I am sure most other sites out there are the same story. What a joke. Quote
HairOnFire Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Awesome rip job on Bengals fans there, Woody. Where's CT Stiller? Wasn't he eventually arguing that Fib-ipaldo's story wasn't focused on Bengals fans but all NFL fans? Well, seems at least one observer didn't see it that way. Tell me, CT, are we still taking this "way too seriously?" First, it wasn't an awesome rip job by the Woody guy. In fact, it was weaker than the original article. Second, the whole premise is built on the idea of being civil in cyberspace...an idea that is ridiculous on the surface, and laughable when you consider how uncivil things have become in the mainstream media as well as serious politics. And the last time I checked we're talking about a sports message board in cyberspace, probably the last very last place I'd look for hints of civility. Third, I'm not taking any of this stuff seriously, but Steeler fans seem to be....and that makes me laugh. But if all of this really bugs you then scroll back and copy and forward to Pittsburgh writers all of the posts from Steeler fans warning of retaliation when Ben babied and cryed after the hit by O'Dell. You'll find examples of Steeler fans openly making the case for deliberate injuries of Thurman and Palmer to bookend with the remarks they made after Palmer was hurt. Or do what I do. Laugh about it all while making fun of hypocrites like CT Stiller. Quote
schweinhart Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Paul Woody is someone who really doesn't merit any comment. Had it been Mark Maske, that would be a different story but when you're dealing with a columnist of a minor league city like Richmond Va., it shouldn't come as much surprise that this is what we get. I'm surprised there hasn't been more like this.Clearly Woody merely stamped out this garbage w/o looking into it beyond what he found in the Post-Gazette garbage can. Nor should he have to. He should have expected his colleagues to render something that doesn't butcher context just to fashion a story that preys upon readers emotions, doesn't deliberately misname sources and doesn't rely on an "expert" to add fuel to the fire when that "expert" obviously knew nothing about the context other than what he was feed by the Post-Gazette liars. So I wouldn't really hold a bush league, 3rd rate columnist of a minor-league city to the flame for the crap he crapped. It all falls back onto the Ray Fitzpatrick and Jenny Mecco at the Post-Gazette. And Dr. Phil Monday of that fabled institue of psychology where he probably is applying the same kind of poor judgment and deceitful techniques under the guise of higher education.And...oh yes......Big Bozo Quote
jjakq27 Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 We could debate this til the cows come home. It is a shame that these guys didn't visit bengalszone.com (not bengalsforum.com) back in January. Also, the whole Poland v. Germany thing didn't start in 1939. That area had been up for grabs for centuries. Quote

You'll find examples of Steeler fans openly making the case for deliberate injuries of Thurman and Palmer to bookend with the remarks they made after Palmer was hurt.If somebody really wants to carry this torch, check out the Steeler fan boards from around the time of the first game last year. There were several Steeler fans advocating death for Odell. The only thing that really bothers me about this whole thing (aside from Spain being touted as a typical Bengal fan) is that Pittsburghers think their s#!t don't stink. Quote

Pittsburgh lays claim this "tough guy" image and then they get all cinched-up about comments on a website message board. If the story was in reverse (about what big meanies the Steelers fans are to the Bengals) I would, frankly, be embarrased about sounding like such pu$$ies. I assume most football fans who read the article will have that take on it too. Quote

To quote you from a few days ago, "Many, and by many I mean quite a few of you, made distastful remarks about the incident." Which way is it? If it is what you now say, then fine, I'll take that. CT Stiller Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 I'm not sure why you'd be upset with this article. He clearly states that fans of other teams were involved in the hate-spewing, not just Bengals fans. He even states that taking specific fodder from a message board wasn't very "smart". The reason he criticizes the Bengals in particular later on in the article is because they were mentioned in the original article specifically. And why was Dr. Friday's assessment so ill-received around here? If it were aimed at Browns fans celebrating Palmer's injury I'm sure you all would agree with him. But since it mentions Bengals fans, and this board in particular, you're all in defense mode, never willing to admit that stupid things were said and that the people who said them are low class morons. Most of you are adamant about avoiding making celebratory remarks just after the accident. In that case, he's not referring to you so why continually mock his assessments by sarcastically referring to yourselves as braindead?Awesome rip job on Bengals fans there, Woody. Where's CT Stiller? duus Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Oh, and if folks want I can get hold of the actual paper print of this article where you will see more clearly why this is very focused on 'Cincinnati fans'. The article was shown a the top of the front page of the sports section and then concluded later with the top title using the quote about 'Cincinnati fans'. The way it was printed, it clearly put the emphasis on Cincinnati. I will be happy to get a couple digital images of the paper and pass it along if you want. Quote
CT Stiller Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 You're just getting into semantics now. There were more than 1 or 2, probably more like 9 or 10 of you from that one thread alone making those remarks. By my definition, that means "quite a few". But that's not the point anyway. The point is most of you guys are defending your forum and yet fail to acknowledge anything was said that was malicious and classless in the first place.Just curious if you have changed your mind given that you now say "the few posters who made stupid comments". To quote you from a few days ago, "Many, and by many I mean quite a few of you, made distastful remarks about the incident." Which way is it? If it is what you now say, then fine, I'll take that. Two things. You clearly said very stupid things after Palmer was injured, but have repeatedly refused to admit that you are quilty of the same things you endlessly complain about. Instead, you repeatedly downplay the insensitivity of your remarks and pretend that you're not a low class moron. So how are you any different from the type of poster who would make light of an injury OR the type that would go into defense mode when confronted with your actions? Liar. Hypocrite. Fake. Quote
duus Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 You're just getting into semantics now.Semantics. Hmmmm. "Many", "Quite a few", and "Few" all mean the same thing. Actually, I'm not so sure that is semantics ... it's more or less having a good handle on the English language. If those all mean the same thing to you, well, then, I will have to naturally assume you received your education in the Pittsburgh area. Yoi ... good job yinz! Quote

CT Stiller Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 I never said anything of the sort; in trying to establish a credible point, you continually make what I said out to be a bash on Carson's injury, which it "clearly" wasn't. But you seem to be too stupid to realize that, so you harp on it until you're blue in the face. In fact, what I said was was meant to be courteous towards the losing team's fans. Since I know what it's like to lose huge games year after year I am sympathetic towards that pain, so I was trying to help you people cope. You can twist it all you want if it makes you feel better though. I have a feeling you just can't come up with anything better to bash me with so you bring up something which you choose to interpret a completely different way from its original intent. That's your own problem and maybe some day when you're a big boy and you can think a bit more clearly you'll understand that. Liar. Hypocrite. Fake. There are bad apples in every batch. You guys still can't grasp that concept, can you? Besides, those claims have not been substatiated yet. At least I can acknowledge that there are tons of idiot Steelers fans who take things too far. You guys seem to feel that your fans are above such things. Just a bunch of innocent fans who can do no wrong. Right. All I know is that I doubt highly it's classless Bengals fans making threatening phone calls to little old ladies... Quote
