dchyde
From the Enquirer today:"On the defensive line, Matthias Askew has impressed teammates and coaches with a strong spring. After two underachieving seasons that tested Lewis' patience, the 302-pound tackle is displaying more energy and knowledge of the defense." DC_Bengals_Fan
Hmmmmmmmm intresting should be a battle for DT Spot then with Sam & peko only 2 I see for sure making it.I'd say Robinson is a near lock with his ability to play DE. And I think Peko could get cut if he really underperformed in camp. So you could say Sam is the only *real* lock. And after last year, no one would be surprised to see Thornton go.If I had to rank them, here would be my list, ranked by likelihood to *stay*.AdamsPekoRobinsonSmithThorntonAskewAlthough if the report is true, that could move Askew up.So in other words, it's been fun, John. Stripes
He must be a good player to have stuck around for so long despite being useless during gametime. Hopefully he can be a contributor.

BengalByTheBay
dude took the tumb out of his mouth, probbaly too late, oh wait he is marvins gay lover! It's just Spain being Spain. Allow me to translate: "While his tremendous potential, size and athleticism has intrigued the team since he was drafted, he has consistently failed to perform suggesting the lack of an adult appreciation of the opportunities presented by his present position. The team's hestitation to give up on him, despite this potential, is most likely due to the fact that he confers homosexual favors upon the head coach." ArmyBengal
I was thinking the same thing and just choose to overlook it instead.Instead of a "Grass" smiley, there needs to be a "CRACK" one to be used specifically for Spain...WHODEY !!! HoTbOy
Thanxxx BBTB for the translation, im like ooooooohhhhhhh thats what he said , but that is good news for MAskew, somewhere earlier JThorton had said how MAskew was doing great in mini-camp, MLewis must have seen something in him to keep him for what is it 3 years now, so I hope he is worth the wait... derekshank
If Askew is showing signs of being worth his roster spot, my guess is that means S. Smith is gone. Smith is one of the guys I like a lot because of his size, but Marvin doesn't seem to like him much, and he has very low stamina. It's disappointing to me, because I like having the young guys with lots of potential... but we've got to play for this year too.I'm expecting either Thornton or Robinson to get cut... one or the other. Your guess is as good as mine. Sam Adams will be one of the starters, Peko will make the team, but I don't know how often he'll be active. That leaves either Robinson or Thornton (whichever one stays) as the starter opposite Adams... and hopefully a more mature Askew who will do what Smith did for last year's team.I like the idea of Askew and Peko being side by side a couple years from now as our big fat MSU DT's. Adams isn't a long term solution here, so hopefully some of these projects we've drafted will pan out, and we won't have to keep worrying about our D-Line every offseason.Regardless, the more hopeful players we have on the roster, the better chance we have of being a really improved defense. We NEED that pass rush... so I like hearing that Askew is doing better, because he has all the tools to be something special.
