After Palmer got hurt in the playoffs I have to admit, I felt bad for the Bungles. Now after seeing some of the low class garbage falling out of Bungel fan's mouth about Roethlisberger. I always thought Bungel fans were a little slow, well a Dr. has gone on record about Bungel fan's under developed brain to prove me right.

"Dr. Paul Friday, the director of clinical psychology at UPMC Shady Side, said the posters of these comments are people with psychological problems whose brains never fully developed....

Friday said the posters are either too young to know better or are people whose brains never completely wired, which can happen due to a number of circumstances, including class and culture....

"The people who are blogging in Cincinnati, they're the ones whose brains never fully develop," Friday said.

Wow. That has to make you feel proud.

What rock did you just crawl out from under....you're a little late.

Also I guess I must have been miswired when I started a thread about Ben's trip to Switzerland in May. What could I possibly been thinking? http://forums.bengalszone.com/index.php?showtopic=11170

Weasel alert! Weasel alert! The paper attempts to back away, and stand by, its story at the same time!

The Browns fans over at dawgtalk called BS on the piece in this thread:

http://dawgtalk.clevelandbrowns.com/ubbthr...o=&fpart=2&vc=1

One of the guys there wrote to the paper about all the web links being wrong and got this reply:

Brian,

You are correct, we listed the Websites wrong in the earlier editions of Ray Fittipaldo's story on what rival fans are saying about Ben Roethlisberger's accident.

We will run a correction and the corrected Websites are in our online version of the story.

Indeed, the comments taken from those sites are factually correct. And we'll correct the record, but will stand by our story. Dr. Paul Friday is a psychologist at the University of Pittsburgh and well-known in our area.

I think you may want to look again at the story and the spirit in which it should be taken. It's a bit light-hearted, but the comments are real.

Note the use of weasel words: "factually correct." How about contextually correct, Jerry? Your writer took a few words out of context to make it appear that there was a broad following of Bengals fans laughing at Ben's injuries. That, of course, is a complete and total lie.

And what "spirit" should it be taken in? "Light-hearted"? HUH? Oh, it's no big deal, we just slimed a bunch of bengals, browns and ravens fans, who cares, they're all brain dammged like Dr. Paul says anyway.

Hey, Jerry: :finger:

Funny how the Bengals have had better support for the team than the Steelers for years now and yet you say we only support our team when it is good.

I read all the posts about your idiot QB that I could take and still come away thinking he was stupid for putting himself in that situation. I do not wish this on anyone and most of the posts on this site have said only that we wish him well and hope he is there when the Bengals destroy the Steelers this season.

Your uninformed post just proves how truly oblivious Steeler fans can be.

Follow your own advice and grow up and quit allowing yourself to be manipulated into saying untruths just because you read it somewhere.

IMO you are no better than the few Bengals fans that have said inappropriate things about this incident.

First things first, major props to Spain and JJQKA. I assume it was your intent to get under the skin of the trolling Steeler fanbase and not only have you done that...you've scored on a national level. Well done boys, you're friggin' famous.

As for the enraged Steeler columnist, the good doctor, and the whining Steeler fans who have dropped by, well...I'm reminded that the host of the Pittsburgh radio show who was on Dan Patrick's ESPNradio show the day after the accident. He stated that the one thing that had surpised him after taking hundreds of phone calls from Steeler fans is how little concern those fans showed in regards to Big Ben's health. He claimed that even when it was unclear if Ben would survive most Steeler fans cared only if the rumored knee injuries were career threatening. And after a day had passed and it had become clear that Ben would indeed survive those same Steeler fans jammed his phone lines wondering how many games Ben the QB might miss. Throughout it all the host of the radio show claimed that few Steeler fans expressed sincere concern for Ben as a person, and had instead limited their concern to how his injury would impact the team...and themselves.

Perhaps it is selfish and uncaring Steeler fans who need counseling? After all, Ben is one of yours. So how am I to react upon learning how little you care about him as a person?

As for me, my feelings are unchanged. I still feel no sympathy for Ben because his injuries are largely a result of his own stupidity. Sure, I did wish him a speedy recovery immediately after the accident, but I now worry that Bens rehab will be seen by ignorant Steeler fans as a near divine 2nd coming instead of the simple act of an athlete returning from a normal healing process.

Why would Steeler fans overreact that way? Well, the Steeler fanbase just took a major crap in their own collective pants and that's the type of thing that shouldn't happen after an athlete has suffered injuries so minor that he probably won't miss a single football game. And that's what we're talking about, right? Thus, embarrassed and enraged Steeler fans need to make this thing bigger than it really was. They'll need to deflect attention from their own stupidity by pointing out the very familiar insensitive behavior of others. They'll need to make the recovery into a bigger story than it deserves to be. They'll need to change the script from one that features a dumb guy paying a big price for his own stupidity.

So let's try to be a little bit understanding of our Pittsburgh friends because right now their collective pants are filled with a steaming load of concern that Ben might miss a game or two. Knowing that, it's easy to see where Steeler fans are off their game a bit. But fear not, the tears will dry soon enough, their fake sympathy for Ben will be forgotten, and Steeler fans will eventually return to bragging as if they actually played in the championship game.

:sure:

Edit: This post was written in a lighthearted manner by a writer who couldn't care less about what a Steeler fan might think.

Good afternoon Bengals fans,

I followed the link over from the Pittsburgh paper to see for myself what the Doctor was talking about. I must say, I can't believe the ignorant and downright inhumane responses by some of you. Purely dispicable. What's really amazing is that some of you try to justify your words by saying, "Well, you should have seen what Steeler fans were saying about Palmer" . . as if the 2 incidents were remotely close.

First off, let me just say that I don't recall for a moment Palmers injury being life threatening as Roethlisberger's was. I don't recall Palmer going through a car windshield although Kimo's hit probably had the same impact if you were to asked Carson. I believe the author distinctly pointed out that what was so troublesome is that the comments posted on your site were in the initial few hours when the story broke and people didn't know if he as going to live or die.

Sorry, there's just no excuse imaginable for that kind of childish and "over the top" behavior. Grow up and know where to draw the line of fandom already. Where's your sense of humanitarianism?

And some of you wonder why other football fans around the country look at Bengal fans differently.

Please know that I am not advocating that all Bengals fans are this way. I realize many many of you are downright good fans of football and loyal fans of the Bengals. :bengal: I have personally enjoyed coming to your city and stadium over the last decade for Steeler/Bengals games and I have met many of you I'm sure. While last year I was treated very rudely for no reason other than wearing my teams colors, I do plan on returning and hope to find some good fans to tailgate with this time. Life is too short to hate ...

My words are only intended for those who demonstrated this behavior during this time of human crisis and are now chided by their own guilt as they were called out by a major media outlet. This is obviously bound to get huge exposure over the week.

As you were .... :sure:

I am a life long Bengals fan and was ashamed to be one after Carsons recent comments. You guys have just reinforced what is being said about Bengals fans by these postings. The Steelers may be a rival team but stop trashing them for having a good season. Even if Carson wouldnt have gone down when we played them ...... the Colts would have most likely kicked us out for the season anyway. What a bunch of bitter babies you guys are and now you take it out by trashing a guy that could have been killed. GROW UP.

HOF..............VERY WELL SAID. THE FACTS REMAIN................ SQUEALERS FANS WERE FAR MORE CONCERNED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE ACCIDENT IF/WHEN BEN WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY. NO CONCERN WAS SHOWN IN REGARDS TO HIS ACTUAL HEALTH....MEANING, WILL HE FULLY RECOVER FROM HIS BRAIN BEING BOUNCED AROUND LIKE A PINBALL WHEN IT SMACKED THE WINDSHIELD? USUALLY IT IS ATLEAST 72 HOURS POST A TRAUMATIC EVENT LIKE THAT BEFORE NEUROLOGISTS/NEUROSURGEONS KNOW FOR SURE IF THERE WILL BE ANY LONG STANDING EFFECTS FROM A BRAIN INJURY. HE WAS DAZED WHEN THE FIRST RESPONDERS ARRIVED....HE HAD A HEAD INJURY FOR CHRISSAKES AND SQUEALERS FANS WERE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT HIS KNEES. YOU CAN LIVE WITHOUT YOUR KNEES..............BUT YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOUR BRAIN.

Good afternoon Bengals fans,

I followed the link over from the Pittsburgh paper to see for myself what the Doctor was talking about. I must say, I can't believe the ignorant and downright inhumane responses by some of you.

Where? Really: show me. Here's the accident thread:

http://forums.bengalszone.com/index.php?showtopic=11374&st=0

All your going to find is that the article is a lie. Let's look at what it says:

As the news and pictures were posted on internet Web sites, Bengals backers at Bengalsforum.com made light of the fact that the Steelers' quarterback had sustained severe injuries, with many of them proclaiming that justice had been served. A few Cincinnati fans said in their messages that it served Roethlisberger and the Steelers right because former Steelers defensive end Kimo von Oelhoffen, they contended, intentionally injured Palmer in an AFC wild-card game at Paul Brown Stadium in January.

"Irony, they cheap shot their way to a Super Bowl, now karma comes in," wrote a poster with the handle Spain.

Another poster with the handle jjakg27 wrote: "What comes around ..."

If you look at the thread, you will indeed find jjakq's "what comes around" remark. However, it was in response to a post by kazkal (not spain) that read:

Kazkal: Stiller nation is freaking out,I feel bad for him and the fans but for all those ones who took pride and joy in carsons injury......KARMAS A B**CH

Let me emphasize: I feel bad for him and the fans. Hoow is that an anti-Ben comment? How does that suggest happiness he was hurt? The "karma" remark that jjakq replied to was specifically aimed at Steeler fans who came here to talk trash after Carson was hurt, not at Ben.

But that would not fit the writer's needs, so he found a quote from spain from somewhere else that was less clear and so could be twisted to fit the story he had already decided to write.

Ray's story continues:

Cantonbengal posted: "This is what I been waiting to see happen to the Steelers they all laughed at us when Carson went down. At least, Carson isn't [stupid] like Ben ... hopefully he might miss some time this season."

The messages were posted in the moments or hours after the accident Monday when the severity of Roethlisberger's condition was unclear.

This isn't even "factually correct," the lame defense proffered by the sports section's managing editor. Canton's actual quote was (and again you can see it page 1 of the accident thread):

hopefully he might miss some time this seaon but it all depends on his injures which just heard does not seem to serious right now. besides having a bloody face.

This message was not posted when Ben's fate was unclear, it was posted after reports he would be fine came out!!!

Sorry, there's just no excuse imaginable for that kind of childish and "over the top" behavior. Grow up and know where to draw the line of fandom already. Where's your sense of humanitarianism?

Read the thread. Get the facts. The only children are the ones working on your paper's sports section.
