ArmyBengal Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 Per Bengals.comAccording to Orange County court records, Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry's trial on a felony gun charge in Orlando, Fla., has been continued to Aug. 21. Henry, facing a charge of carrying a concealed firearm, had been scheduled to go on trial Tuesday in a case that could result in a NFL suspension if he was found guilty. The new trial date is in the middle of the Bengals preseason, with a pre-trial conference hearing set for Aug. 8.The wait and see approach !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 Wish they'd just get it over with so we can plan around whatever punishment the league decides is fitting for being a complete and total jackass of the first degree! Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 Weird, why in the hell would you do this if you wanted to get any sort of suspension, probation or jail time out of the way asap?I can only assume his lawyers feel they have a good chance of beating the more severe charges, and need more time to solidify their case?Who knows... ArmyBengal Posted May 30, 2006 Author Report Posted May 30, 2006 Could be the line of thought as far as solidifying their case or maybe finding loopholes. Who knows, that's why lawyers get the big bucks !!!WHODEY !!! Quote

Courts often continue trials based on courtroom availability. Since the summer is prime time for vacations, including Judge's vacations, this is not that uncommon this time of year. It is, however, frustrating. If this goes in August then there will be a judgment in time for the start of the season to begin serving his suspension. BTW -- does anybody believe he won't be suspended for at least a couple of games? I have been assuming that's the case. Quote

membengal Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 Do note, that Sean Taylor's possible 46 years in prison and felony assualt charge just went "poof" as he pled out to a midemeanor and will get no jail time, all as unfolded in a Florida court.Long way from here to prison for Henry still...most likely outcome still looks like a plea deal and to accept whatever the NFL hands down for a suspension. I still bet he's wearing stripes and contributing by Game 5 in Week 6.... Quote

bengalboomer7 Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 I'd say there buying some time to get a deal done, something similar to Taylor. Quote
