Check Out Carson in New OTA Video

Recommended Posts

SI writer today on Lance's show mentioned the Bengals' may be tempted to hold him out until week 6, with the early bye week, regardless of how he feels.

Obviously that's going to depend on just how solid the knee is in training camp and whether he has any set-backs with swelling, scar tissue etc..,

Regardless it's just nice to know he's going to be 100% sooner than later next season.

It's amazing to think they can get these guys jogging again in a matter of 2-3 months after a major operation like that.

VERY EXCITING!

Heart is pumping! Did you see the CJ interview where Hue put a Coverd 85? #22!

Oh yeah! Joseph is the real deal, granted it is OTAs, but if he can do that stepping off the bus?

Whew!

:o

:)

I don't know about that stiffness or limp that you are talking about, I don't see any of it, just a great looking motion, quick release and a strong follow-through! Looks pretty confident on it when it is isolated in the long stride exercise at the end, too.

Askew looks like he is loafing in the opening set; KWash looks svetle; Sam Adams is a BIG boy.

Ain't nobody gonna stop Palmer from coming back if he keeps it up like he's shown so far. For him to already be doing what he's doing pretty much sums up that he must want to win the GD Super Bowl this year. The KC game and the Pitt game got consequences too big to hand the ball over to somebody else early. 1 winning season in 15 years sure don't make me want to see the Bengals decide to hold him out any games just to play it safe. Play Palmer from the start and win now.

While somewhat impressive, I do think we all need to take the CP video with a grain of salt.

This is very good to see, but in no way should it indicate that he will be ready for the first game. Hell, we don't know how often he does movements like that, and so it doesn't prove how ready he is for the normal wear and tear day in, day out that an NFL QB will experience. This regular beating starts in the preseason and lasts for a whole season, which is a long and arduous event.

We did not see the day after effects of that vid. While I am very happy to see it, I would rather be more cautious and take our time with our QB over rushing him back. We will be fine for a couple of weeks without him, if necessary. The other guys will step up. I promise.

Yeah... I think we need to be reasonable here. Palmer looks very impressive out there... but he isn't really being asked to do very much. He is right where they expected him to be, so it isn't as if this is the fastest recovery in the history of the ACL injury.

On the other hand, I saw Willis Mcgahee on the NFL network today after they saw some video of Palmer, and he said that Palmer was way ahead of where he was at that time in his rehab... but Willis didn't play for a whole year, so that is to be expected.

All of that just to say... if he plays before week 6, it shouldn't come as a huge surprise, nor be seen as a needless gamble, At the same time... If they hold him out until week 6 it won't be shocking to me either.

I certainly did not want to imply that the guy is ready. Obviously he is not, nor should he be. But it was not a slam dunk that he would be back at all this year. Hell, there was some chance he would never make it back. This shows he will be back. He will not be denied. He is unstoppable.

I am also encouraged and have said before, that I am even a bit curious about Anthony Wright. We can win with him in there for awhile.

Lots of loose ends tied this week.

Chiefs, Steelers and Patriots...Anybody really want to see how Wright fares against these teams? I'd take a 50% Palmer over a 100% Wright any day even if it means Palmer hands off 40 times and does nothing but 3-step drops.

The Chiefs still shouldn't pose a big problem defensively but there will be serious questions to answer on the field Sept. 10 as to whether or not Marvin's 4th crack at putting a defense together worth a spit is working.

Even the Clowns can't be viewed a gimme and 0-4 is no way to start a season for a team with any expectation to advance into the post-season.

I'm not in favor of what looks like wasting another year if Palmer can rehab the rest of the way to the opener as he has so far. Start him right away. Palmer wants it and Marvin has been saying it all along. Make our gunslinger the stuff of legends and set a hellacious tone for the 2006 season. If it backfires and Palmer gets injured again, then the season most likely gets wasted anyway and Palmer would have a whole lot longer to recover.

Besides, Wright has got some stiffer comp in Ragone and if the Bengals like Meyer enough, Wright may not survive the final cut.

On the other hand, I saw Willis Mcgahee on the NFL network today after they saw some video of Palmer, and he said that Palmer was way ahead of where he was at that time in his rehab... but Willis didn't play for a whole year, so that is to be expected.

I thought the two most interesting remarks from that program came from Marvin and Carson. Palmer said that mentally he felt..."capable of doing everything"...and only constant reminders from team trainers kept him in check. Lewis then remarked that Palmer is right where they expected him to be, that Lewis had already put together a plan detailing how much work Palmer would get in preseason games, and the team still expected him to be ready to start in the opener.

Frankly, being cautious is all well and good, but the Bengals have said from day one that they expect Palmer to be ready to start the season, and despite everyones well founded doubts it seem with each passing day that the Bengals knew what they were talking about from the very start.

I liked the part on the video where Palmer is working out with the other injured guys on strecthing while walking drills, a staffer approaches with a surprised look, as if that were not a scripted part of his workout. Palmer is a totally team oriented guy.
