JPW
From SIBengals quarterback Carson Palmer throws at Paul Brown Stadium as he tries to work his way back from a severe knee injury he suffered last season.Simon Bruty/SIOf all the rehabbing quarterbacks, Carson Palmer deserves the most scrutiny because you have to consider the Bengals a Super Bowl threat if he's 100 percent. Everyone around the Bengals is talking positively about Palmer's recovery from a left knee injury and we could see him in pads sooner than expected. LINK ... bengalsrz
I love to hear this stuff. I want CP back asap. But they say this every year to injured players, and a lot of the times, it isnt true...
cincy9275
that' nice to see i. he is progressing well. i still have doubt's that he will be there on opening day . i would not put him in until i was 100% positive that no mental or physical lapses. i have faith that Marvin will know when he is ready. BigBenBlows
It's good to see he's at least throwing. Keeping the mind and arm sharp while nursing the knee back.
bengalboomer7
Carson Palmer throwing a football is one prety sight.BTW, what's Hines Ward bitching about Cowher for?
HairOnFire
Carson Palmer throwing a football is one pretty sight. It must be. I just showed my wife that picture, and her immediate reaction was...'Oooh, Carson Palmer with facial hair. I just got a little weepy in my pants." andybren
That knee brace looks a little flimsy. Can't we get NASA working on something sturdier? Maybe get some body armor from the Defense Dept?
Stripes
I hope that's the last time I see him throwing out of the endzone.
derekshank
I heard John Clayton on ESPN radio today talking about Palmer. He said that Palmer looks to be progressing very well, but that he still doesn't expect him back until October because even though his knee is healing faster than usual, it is still something that is keeping him from getting into football shape. It's an interesting thought... but he looks to be doing everything in his power to stay in shape, so only time will tell. GapControl
I`ve shed a tear of happiness just now. There is no more beautiful sight than Palmer throwing, planting, watching the ball sail throw the air...I`ve shed a tear of happiness just now. HoTbOy
That is good to see, I still think that October would be the earliest he will be back on the field...and that is fine by me, I just hope that he is not rushing himself...
ArmyBengal
Yep, very nice to see indeed, but I agree in the thought of him NOT being ready for the opener. I'll be OK with him taking a little extra time and not rushing back !!! The last thing we want to see is Carson rushing back and then BAM ---> I'll take my chance with a backup for the first 3-4 games as opposed to seeing that for the remainder of the season !!!WHODEY !!! Tasher
Clayton said "football shape" what the hell does that mean? A RB, CB, OL, DL, LB, sure. Carson can PLAY himself back into football shape by handing the ball to Chris and Rudi more often early and then slinging it around the yard later.Just a thought. My money is on opening day baby! Since when has Chad been wrong with his guarantees?

derekshank
I guess my concern with Palmer would not be getting into "football shape", as Tasher pointed out he will be able to ease into doing as much as he did last year. They are going to focus on the running game more this season, with or without him... and he's not exactly a running QB... and is a horse, so I think his conditioning will not be the issue. My concern will be more about how he feels about standing in the pocket. Last year he was excellent about standing there with guys falling around his feet, and not getting happy feet ala Peyton Manning. If he's at all worried about getting that knee hit again, he might get flustered a little easier, and that will result in him being less effective. Hopefully he won't let that one injury get in his head though.
Sox
I was at dawgtalk, and one of the topics was about Chad stating the Bengals would dominate the AFC North. One of the posters was laughing and saying who's gonna throw him the ball?I don't think so.So I posted the picture stating this guy, from a picture taken last week will be throwing the ball to Chad. The mods removed it as "it exceeded maximum size allowed".Funny, since there were other pictures in the same thread that were larger. GO85CHAD
hey i just got done watching some of cold pizza. they had some dude on there talking about culpepper and palmer. he said to all you bengal fans expect palmer to be ready for the start of the season. he said his rehab has been going very good. this is awesome news guys. if he could only miss 2 games at the worst case scenario we would be in good shape. Hopefully he won't let that one injury get in his head though. You're making sound like Carson would be thinking, "OHMYGAWD, I'M BEING BLITZED! I GOTTA GET RID OF THE BALL BEFORE I GET INJURED!" Injuries didn't affect his attitude after he broke his collarbone in his sophmore year at SC. The sprained knee didn't affect his attitude to start last season. I don't think this injury will affect his pocket presence any more than his previous injuries. So far, Carson has been the least flustered young QB I've seen in the past 15 years. He's well aware of what his job is and how to do it. He's also well aware of the risks and opportunities. Carson may struggle, but his attitude and mental presence on the field is not going to be the reason.
TippCityRick
Billy I believe he was wearing a brace on that fateful Sunday afternoon last January. He will definetly be wearing a brace whether he's on the field or holding a clipboard come opening day in Kansas City.

It will definitely be in the back of his head the first time he gets hit, but you brought up an excellent point regarding Carson Palmer. His calm, cool, collectiveness is uncanny. Nothing phases this guy. He's probably one of the least flustered players ever. That's just his attitude and it happens to be the perfect one for a QB. While i have all the confidence in the world in this guy, put me in the group that doesn't even want to see him until after the bye week. No matter what our record is before than, I think this is the earliest you can bring Carson bak and him be his Pro Bowl self.
