Bengalbob
From Lance's blog today . . .http://www.edmontonsun.com/Sports/Eskimos/...572612-sun.html After being punted off the Cincinnati Bengals, Reggie Myles is hoping to find a spot on the Edmonton Eskimos' defence this spring to help repair his reputation. With nearly 70 players likely coming to main training camp next weekend, there will be no shortage of interesting hopefuls to follow - but Myles will bring one of the most intriguing stories.Although he had four years under his belt in Cincinnati, his NFL career came to an abrupt halt last November when he was cut."It was me and a teammate - he was having problems at home - and we got into a little scuffle," explained Myles, who played 51 games as a special-teams starter and backup safety for the Bengals."I played that week and I came back the next week and they were releasing me."LACK OF PERFORMANCE?A lack of performance was the official reason given by the Cincinnati coaching staff, but Myles knows it was because of the scrap.Although the 26-year-old University of Alabama product doesn't want to talk about the possibility that he might be blackballed in the NFL, he admits he is very surprised another team didn't pick him up this winter."It was a real shock that nobody gave me another chance," he said from his Tennessee home."But it is a lesson learned."It is a mistake I don't have to worry about making again."But the Eskimos are certainly happy about bringing Myles to camp, even with his baggage. The club announced his signing yesterday."As long as he doesn't hit the coach - it'll be fine," cracked Edmonton head coach Danny Maciocia."A lot of people in their lives were given second chances and he shouldn't be any different."On the field, the Mississippi native brings a lot to the table."He can play safety, corner and half-back and you will also recognize him with his special teams play because he will try to take your head off," said Maciocia of the five-foot-11, 192 pounder."He plays much bigger than he actually is."Cracking a veteran-laden secondary will be tough, especially with the addition of Reggie Durden from Montreal this off-season.SHOT AT SAMBut Myles will also get a shot at the SAM linebacker position if Steven Marsh is still recovering from a torn ACL, which is the likely scenario."I just want to make plays," said Myles, "and be the best player I can possibly be for the Edmonton Eskimos. That way they have nothing but good things to say about me."
TJJackson
Very good to hear. Sounds like he has accepted his situation and is doing his best to get back to what he does best - playing football - at whatever level he can
Beerfish
Greetings gents, I live in Edmonton and am an Eskimo fan. I actually came on here to ask about Reggie Myles and lo and behold there is a thread about him. What can you guys tell me about him as a player? What does he bring to the table. Also what was the story behind his release, who did he get into a scrap with?(I'll probably be posting on your forums in the future to keep track of a former Eskimo who signed with you guys this past off season 'Rashad Jeanty')

Puts a hit on, wraps up, contains well, all the things you need on teams. He never got much of a look on defense (he was listed as a safety, I think), so it'd be tough to comment on that. As for why he left, here are a couple of old threads to catch you up . . .http://forums.bengalszone.com/index.php?showtopic=8505&hl=http://forums.bengalszone.com/index.php?showtopic=8398&hl=
TJJackson
(look to the left and note the player shown as my avatar)High spirited, high emotions guyHe was a backup safety (we dont play strong or free safeties, the safeties are interchangeable) but made his money on special teams, where he was arguably the best coverage unit gunner the Cincinnati Bengals have ever had. He played very well in this role in 203, played at near Pro Bowl level in 2004, but although he started the season well in 2005 (the first play of the first game of the 2005 season - he forced a fumble by the cleveland kickoff return man) but then tailed off badly, including some notably bad/stupid penalties at key moments. He played infrequently as a safety despite notable thin-ness and lack of quality (see Ohalete) at this position, so I saw him almost exclusively as a special teams player. He was absolutely fearless and maniacal in this role, delivering noteworthy special teams hits with great regularity. The incident was not well documented as only a few details have slipped out, but it is clear there was a bit of a brawl primarily centered around Myles and Carl Powell, a backup defensive lineman. Carl outweighs Reggie by a hundred pounds or more. Carl was not released following the incident, and Reggie was, so it is generally assumed that Reggie is faulted by the organization for the incident. Since his production was down and his penalties were causing some serious problems at the time, the release was well understoodHis high emotional level appear to be both his strength and his weakness - strength on the field, but a detractor off the field. I am by no means an expert about this subject, just a big fan of Reggie and wish him nothing but the best. He will **always** be one of my favorite all-time Bengals

Stripes
The Eskimos are getting themselves a solid player. If he plays any special teams up there, he'll be dominant.

He is fast, a pretty good tackler and has a nose for the ball. He had five sacks in his 1st two games last year. The problem is his size, he's a classic tweener, too small for DE in the NFL and probably too big for LB. He was good on special teams for us so if he makes the Bengals I would assume that would be his primary position to start with perhaps working into a rush end on passing downs later. One benefit is that although he's still pretty young he has had 3 years of pro ball experience. He'll undoubtably be in good physical condition as well as up here if you are not really fit you'll croak (due to the smaller rosters, larger field, shorter clock between plays and more kick returns)
