KO SIMPSON -- because I believe that Ko would have been a good back up to Jackson and contribute right away on special teams.

Rucker is NOT a good DE -- adequate in a rotation. But, I doubt he will be as good as Geathers. :P

I believe that Ko Simpson woud eventually have become the starter at safety.

I am just about over our not draft Simpson -- but its been tough. B)

Pope was available in the second round also. Evereyone thought he was going to be taken in the first round but instead he got drafted by the Cardinals in the third round.

As you can easily see Cofield wasn't the player picked after Rucker. That honor belongs to Jason Hatcher, a plus sized DE prospect said to be as raw as sushi. Byrd came next but I've read scouts considered him a love him or hate him prospect whose dedication to football was very questionable. Looking at the players who followed, Gerris Wilkinson was the player whose name I actually expected to be called when the Bengals picked due to the interest they showed in him. Jean-Gillis wasn't attractive to me at all, and there was no need for his services after the Bengals locked up the RG spot by extending a veteran already on their roster. Moving down, I'm a big fan of Darnell Bing, but not as an OLB. If you don't consider him a SS he's dead to me. And speaking of being dead, Ko Simpson will probably sign his contract with a crayon. The biggest upside of the Sam Adams deal was how it made Gabe Watson an afterthought and a risk that didn't need to be taken. I liked Victor Adeyanju, but I can't argue very strongly, if at all, that he's a better DE prospect than Rucker. I think Will Blackmon is going to get smoked like a ham by NFL wideouts, and the selection of Jonathan Joseph in the 1st round made the selection of another CB almost unthinkable. Last, I have no interest in any of the wideouts or RB's listed due to the depth the Bengals have.

Bottom Line: Rucker was chosen 91st, just 7 slots away from the 4th round. Call me crazy, but picking him at that spot doesn't even look bad in hindsight.

Seeing as how we have absolutely no idea how any of these guys are going to turn out, it's a complete guessing game, but if I had to pick, Byrd would have been ok or even Ko or Wilkinson.

I'll stick with the scouting the coaches did and trust that there was a reason these guys were still on the board as all the other teams passed on them just as we did. Here's hoping the "Cold Mother Rucker" comes on strong and serves up all kinds of crow to the critics !!!

WHODEY !!!

AT LAST!!!!!!! Someone else understands why Frostee was such a bad draft choice. Why he was such a reach.

Its not just the fact that he is not a good DE its all of the guys you could have instead of him.

There is no way in hell that the Bengals had him rated as a 3rd round player, if they did then they need to get someone else to evaluate DE's after taking Robert Geathers(rated as an undrafted FA) in the 4th.

The whole draft makes no sencee. The most pressing need in the draft was DE,TE,DT,S and you draft a DE in the 3rd a DT in the 4th and no TE or S and take 3WR's somethint they didn't need.

If the Bengals were drafting for best player avaliable they would have went with G Max-Gene Giles he was the most dominate player maybe in the whole draft. Thank God Pittsburgh didn't get him.

If they were going on potential at DE Jason Hatcher would have been the way to go he has nicke size and speed and has been productive at a smaller school.

The fact is any one on that list except for a WR or K would have been a better pick.

If this guy was a guy with great production and was rated as a 5 to 7 round pick because he was a little slow or a little short it would be one thing ,but this guy is all of the above Slow Short andOnly 6 Sacks and little production

There is no reason to think Rucker would have even been drafted by anyone else the same thing happened when they took Geathers (a guy with 0 sacks)in the 4th a couple of years ago.

Yep, my bad, I transposed what happened with Peko with what happened with Rucker. Take a look at who was picked after Peko.

I would have gladly accepted any of the following in place of Rucker

DE Adeyanju

TE Byrd

LB Wilkinson or Williams (J or L, L preferrred)

WR Williams (as long as they took not a single other WR)

DT Watson

S Bing

This remains a really awful draft

I'd have liked to have seen them get a shot at Chris Gocong but the Eagles traded up 20 spots ahead of the Bengals to draft him.

But other than that, I'm glad they did draft DE and got a player they think they can get what they need out of even though at that point I'd have rather seen Ko, Demetrius, Byrd, Wilkinson, Leon Williams or Jason Hatcher picked ahead of Rucker among those picked between rounds 3 and 4.

Oh, quit crying over spilled milk. It's over, he's a Bengal. Now, let's put our 99cent Wendy's Frostee and Wretched's love child Henderson to rest.

Err, I'm sorry, is this a discussion board where we can discuss things of interest to us - not necessarily to you, but to the individual reader/writer - or is it not?

No doubt, as a discussion board, it's also someone's right to stress their own distaste for a coversation that, while losing steam, isn't dying away.

Let's all play nice, eh?
