Reds already coming back down to earth?

I think they're at least slowing down after their crazy April, but I don't think the fast start is over yet. Even in recent losses, we've pitched well for the most part, and that's the key.

Once, if ever, we return to giving up 5 runs in the first two innings of every game, I'll say it's over.

D'backs are a good team, and have been on a hot streak of their own. Arroyo was bound to lose one sooner or later .... and they had ..... how many errors the other nite ???

Couple of bad games on the road against a good team. Let's see how they bounce back against the Nats before we start kicking the dirt on them. They are still in first place.

That's for sure. I know. I live out here in Arizona, and of course fed a steady diet of Diamondbacks baseball on the tube. I knew the Reds might have a hard time against Arizona, because just like with the Atlanta Braves, they're just one of those teams Cincy consistently has a hard time beating year in and year out. I wish I knew why! :(

I'll wait to see how well they hold up after the All Star break before passing judgement.

They did win Sunday and ARIZ. and THE Rockies have been playing good ball so far this season. They have been a suprise this year like the Reds.....So I agree with Billy. B)

i think so. what do u all think?

DITTY!! What's up bro?

Our offense is in a slump. Guys like Freel and Dunn are clearly struggling (except for Dunn's Sunday performance) and defense is bad again. I think our pitching is still strong. We're just missing Jr. right now. Need his presence and bat back in the lineup.

One thing we know is that Freel is NOT an everyday guy. He needs a lot of time off to keep that high energy going.

Kirk you are right about Freel, he is not an everyday player. He gets exposed when he has to play everyday.

I am still very impressed, give the Reds credit, they just went through a buzzsaw of a week, 3 games vs Astros, 2 vs Cards, 2 vs Rockies and 3 vs D-backs... (combined record 76-51), with a lot of travel, Cincy to Denver, Denver to Phoenix, finished 6-4 with an injured Griffey and Aurilia, and the team had ZERO days off.

Well deserved rest, let's get at the Nats

Hopefully Felipe Lopez is done with his long slump now, after that 4-5 night on Sunday. If we can hit more consistently at the top of the order (I think Freel is slumping too, he should be alright), then it should only help the bigger hitting guys.

Boy was I wrong about Austin Kearns! He might be the best all around offensive player on the team (if these first 32 games are any indication), except when Griffey is at his best. See ya Wily Mo.

Thank goodness the Rockies swept the Astros...

No doubt, and even more thanks for their defeat of the Cardinals today. :sure:

Go Giants (except Barry :P ), whoop the Astros!

Well, while back home for the past week, I watched a couple games with my dad and at least we are still in first. Arroyo was going to lose at some point and the guys that are slumping will come back around I think. It's always nice seeing the Astros lose, so that's something to be happy about !!! Lets go sweep the Nats now !!!

WHODEY !!!

Hopefully that'll start a little winning streak. While they've been slumping, the Cardinals and Astros haven't done much to take advantage... So we're still in good shape. The pitching already looks like it's starting to struggle though, and that's a bad sign.
