Lap's Nephew Gets a Look

RELATIVELY SPEAKING: The nephew of Bengals radio analyst Dave Lapham is getting a shot when the Bengals rookies gather for their minicamp May 13-15. Tackle Brian Lapham will be one of several players getting a tryout, but given that he’s getting his Harvard degree in a few days he’s not going to be hurting for a job.

“He’s already got a job offer, but he wants to see if there’s a ray of hope in keeping the football thing alive,” said Dave Lapham, who came out of Syracuse 32 years ago to play all five line spots for the Bengals during 10 seasons.

Brian, the son of Lapham’s older brother Bruce, is a 6-5, 300-pounder of Sanford, Me., who served as captain of the Crimson. He’s two-time All Ivy and has played guard and tackle. Bengals assistant offensive line coach Bob Surace worked him out on campus a weeks ago, but his uncle has never seen him play in college because of his duties as a TV analyst for Big 12 games.

6-5, 300 lbs., can play G or C, and obviously smart. Worth a look, IMHO.

Another Lapham would be sweet.

Wonder about the 6' 9" Lapham going to Bostn College, I cant remember a 6' 9" lineman ever. If he could move, that would be something, hell if even stood around like a totum-pole that would be something in college.

Bryant McKinney of the Vikings is 6' 8". Ed "Too Tall" Jones was 6' 9"
