If I had to guess I'd say:

DE's

Justin Smith

Robert Geathers

Frostee Rucker

Jonathon Fanene

DT/DE tweener

Bryan Robinson

DT's

Sam Adams

Shaun Smith

Domata Peko

Matthias Askew

Thornton wuold not be happy here, because he wouldn't get much playing time. I don't know if Marvin's ready to give up on Askew, and since JT would be upset, and costs more, we probably let him go.

wonder if bills would want him /evil grin

Ya theres reason why marvins kept askew this whole time and think yer right about JT being unhappy + it helps us with signing our linemen

PS,Wonder how many LB's counting we have 9atm

1.)B.simmons

2.)Landon Johnson

3.)David Pollack

4.)Wilkins

5.)Cfl Guy aka Jeanty, Rashad

6.)odell thurman

7.)Navies

8.(Caleb Miller

9.)AJ nicholson

my guess CFL guy will probbley get the axe but I wonder who else could be caleb? though hes one of our special team studs led team last year once he returned...or mybe wilkins or naives? only time will tell I guess

I have to think Askew is on the bubble.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Shaun Smith cut. P*ssed, yes, but not shocked. Langston played decently in 2004 and they still booted him.

Robinson did nada to impress me last season, but I doubt they let him go.

Thornton's production, while better than he's given credit for, doesn't match his cost. Wouldn't be shocked to to see him go either.

I'm with you Joisey. I'd be pissed if they let S. Smith go. Moore didn't bug me that much, because we had high expectations for Robinson... but Smith clearly outplayed every other DT last year when he was given the chance.

What I'm hoping for is Adams at LDT, S. Smith at RDT with Robinson and Peko as their subs (because they both lack endurance).

I don't know...with all the waste of roster space sucked up by one-dimensional special teamers who don't contribute on either side of the ball, the Bengals may shortchange themselves again on D-linemen.

If it's 9, I'd like to see:

DE's

LDE: Justin Smith, Johnathan Fanene

RDE: Eric Henderson, Jumpy Jr.

DT's

LDT: Sam Adams, Shaun Smith

RDT: John Thornton, Domata Peko

DE/DT Tweener

B-Rob

We'll see about Frostee the Snowman, but if it looks like he's not going to cut it I hope the Bengals just cut ties instead of keeping a waste of roster space around a couple years like they have done with Askew.

I was thinking we'd go with less DB's last year because preatty much anth mitchell,Greg brooks, baumen are just special teamers anyways

I doubt Shaun Smith will be cut, simply because of the obvious improvement we saw in the run defense while he was in the games last season.

I think Marvin still has faith in Thornton, so he stays put, while Robinson gets the axe.

DTs

Sam Adams

John Thornton

Shaun Smith

Domata Peko

DEs

Justin Smith

Robert Geathers

Frostee Rucker

Eric Henderson

9th guy

Fanene or Askew

DEs: (* denotes back-up)

LDE - Justin Smith

LDE* - Jonathan Fanene

RDE - Eric Henderson (I can dream)

RDE* - Robert Geathers

RDE* - Frostee Rucker

DTs:

Sam Adams

Domato Peko

Bryan Robinson

Shaun Smith

Mathias Askew

So we keep 10 linemen? that leaves 15 spots for our safetys, linebackers and cornerbacks

oops...my bad.

I dunno then.

I could definately see JT being a cap cut for one though.

10 Linemen could work, not probable but it could.

You'd have:

Smith

Henderson

Geathers

Fanene

Rucker

Adams

Peko

Askew

Robinson

Smith

Thruman

Pollack

Simmons

Johnson

Nicholson

Navies

Wilkins

O'Neil

Bauman

Joseph

Ratliff

Williams

Jackson

Herring

Kaes

Ratliff would move to Saftey if one went down.

Williams wold move to Corner if one went down.

Again, not wise, or probable, but possible.

But then again, if we could improve our pass rush, there would not be so much pressure on our DBs...
