kingwilly
the fact that you are suggesting that, even in an off-handed way, having Stacey be a designated TE in goal-line situations..ie pressing a guy into a need soley because you'd like to get him involved and contirbute, in place of an atual TE that they should have grabbed in this TE rich draft.....is an indicator that you've probably run things into the red a bit this weekend following the draft and now need a nap..C'mon Joisey, we...I... expect MORE from you....This is a Spain-esque idea...have a stiff scotch and hit the hay...you get a pass for that stillborn idea, my friend...you're going to look like $100 in that new Jonathan Joseph jeresy, Joisey! derekshank
Tim Day went undrafted. My guess is he'd love to sign with the Bengals... the same for the undersized, but great pass-catching Anthony Mix.We only have 1 TE on the roster if memory serves... so we might be looking to sign Chad Lewis or Marcellus Rivers in FA too.All in all, TE will still play a minimal part in the offense this year. Maybe a bit of a dissapointment... but it didn't hurt our production, so I'm glad we focused on the D.
HoosierCat
the fact that you are suggesting that, even in an off-handed way, having Stacey be a designated TE in goal-line situations..ie pressing a guy into a need soley because you'd like to get him involved and contirbute, in place of an atual TE that they should have grabbed in this TE rich draft.....is an indicator that you've probably run things into the red a bit this weekend following the draft and now need a nap..Just FYI I've pimped Andrews at TE before. And he's seen a few snaps at the spot. It's a Bengals tradition with o-line guys; remember that they plugged Levi in at TE several time in his rookie year. Enough that in my "Levi was s**tty pick" days I used to call him "Tackle Eligible" Levi Jones. I keep coming back to the idea because of the popularity of the3-4 D around the league. Defenses want to overwhelm OL's with a lot of quick but (relatively) light LBs; if you can find athletic 300 lb. guys wo can play OL you have a legit counter. Do you lose something in the passing game? Sure...but if you have an a$$-kicking set of wideouts plus an RB with hands as soft as a pillow...who cares? Play the old Chargers Air Coryell offense, just with your receiving RB in place of a hot TE.I dunno if the Bengals are thinking along these lines but it's not an outlandish idea, IMHO. Kazkal
Let's face it: between the drafting of Whitworth and the rumors that they are looking to move Wilkerson to guard, that suggests to me that the Dancing Bear just ain't working out. At least at RTAgreed that the signs point to Stacy not developingSo let's take advantage of the fact tht, one, we don't use a TE for much more than a 6th offensive lineman, and two, he's got all sorts of athleticism -- and occasionally running 5 yards out and catching a ball while 230 lb. LBs and 180 lb. safeties bounce off your 300 lb. butt can't be that friggin tough.I mean, what's the option here? Perennial camp follower Ronnie Ghent? Screw it, let's get the Bear on the field. It's an intriguing idea, but if he can't pick up a single OL position, how (putting aside for the moment the ability to catch the football) is he going to pick up pass routes?I do definitely like the idea of him blocking out on short yardage or goal line plays, where it is fairly obvious we'll run anywaywearn't you saying whitworth came replace levi mybe if your right "giggles" then stacey will replace willie and koost will replace steinbach that line would own
Stripes
Andrews at TE? Hell yes.We can't key off running plays to the opposition when the only two players we ever use at TE are Andrews and Kelly. Neither will ever catch anything.Might as well throw another lineman there and dominate the line of scrimmage every play.
Spor_tees
This is the argument I had on Go-Bengals.com before I got banned! I said just use an unbalanced line since we never throw to the TE anyway. Someone ban Joisey please.
HoosierCat
ht as well throw another lineman there and dominate the line of scrimmage every play. There it is. Eff 'em. You got LaZippy Sackington? Great. Meet 1,900 lbs. of o-line, and oh, that guy on the end was a track star, too. This is the argument I had on Go-Bengals.com before I got banned! I said just use an unbalanced line since we never throw to the TE anyway. Someone ban Joisey please. That it! I'm gone!Eff you! No way you're banned!Kiss my a$$, I'm freakin' history!Trust me, sportees, 5 years from now this league will be talking about the "prototypical 300 lb. TE"
cincinnatikid85
the bengals ticked me off sunday with them picks what were they thinking. Marvin like he said must have picked the for the future. all i know is the R.McNeal pick was the best out of the three. can you say carson throwing a td and catching them. just a thought. Stripes
We are so loaded at WR it is just nonsense. I am not against any of the three picks, because their potential value on special teams makes them well worth 6th/7th round fliers.Chad Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Chris Henry*, Antonio Chatman, Tab Perry, Reggie McNealHow do you stop that as a defense? The Bengals live and die by the vertical passing game, and they are going to keep making it better regardless of other needs. I love it.
