TJJackson Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 I had Whitworth on my want list - but in round 4 or lowerThat, and the fact that they needed another quality defender more, means I absolutely hate this pick.Draft grade so far: D.C for JJF for AW Quote
BTG Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 If they draft Ryan Hamby I'm driving to Cincinnati with a knife in my teeth. I HATE RYAN HAMBY. He's slow, he doesn't catch well, he's not a good blocker, and his shenanigans directly contributed to OSU's two losses (not blocking Hali leading to Smith's fumble & the drop vs. Texas). Quote
cincy9275 Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 another pick that will be no help at all next season terrible imho . this was a day i thought we could take a big step at helping the d now and this coming season but no two guys that where picked way higher than they should have been and just leave loads of talent on the board so far i have to give today a c- these guys are both could be's and you don't waiste high picks on could be's. i am kinda ticked off Quote
princeton Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 I'm actually happy with the pick.We only have so much cap room we can't hand out $7million a year to 3 guys at the same time.I was expecting it to a LG to replace stienbach, but it looks like stienbach and Levi will be back. Willie will be let go, and that happens when your decline a 3 year $18million dollar extension.agreed, except for the last part. Whitworth sounds guard-like, which raises the possibility of replacing Steinbach (or Levi if Steinbach shifts to LT).Bengals still get to play who signs our deal. Quote
CBin2k7 Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Giving up on 06, I dont think so. The Bengals had the number 6 offense in the NFL last year with very little production from the TE position. I don't think that will change very much.Give the draft a chance to play out, it's only 2 picks. Marvin has stuck gold in the 2nd round the last two years, I have confidence that he will do it again. Quote
HairOnFire Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Pin this one on Willie. If he'd gone for the extenson this is another pick. Hey, thanks, Big Mouth, and don't let the door hit you in a$$ on the way out... (Trade Willie now.) Willie won't be traded. They'll let him play out his last season for below market wages while Whitworth learns the ropes. It's not a bad pick...just a result that nobody wanted to see. Quote

Since his first days here Marvin Lewis has talked about shifiting money from the O to the D. He tried to do it with Chris Perry but injury sank that plan. Now he's trying to do it with Whitworth. He costs a few million over 5 years, while Willie will cost millions per year. Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 offer willie for houstons 3rd rnder Done. Quote

(He is a Moeller boy, show some love)He will most likely be our late 7th round choice or a CFA pick upon NFL.com Whitworths grade was a 5.5 on a scale of 1.0 to 7.0(best). So he is rated pretty average...but we should of went after Ko Quote
Kazkal Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Man I dunno if I'd trust willie now oh whoops i missed that tackle oh whoops i missed that one sense now he knows hes not returning I know hes not just joking around Quote
princeton Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 let me sanctify the pick by playing Mel Kiper: "They picked that tackle a round early! The Bengals don't know how to draft!" Quote

TJJackson Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 This is a draft of projectsThat's part of the problem - imho, first day draft picks should be expected to play that same year Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Well all I know is the 3rd round has a hell of a lot of good players to choose from Quote
El Tigere Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 we had Ko Simpson S, Gabe Watson DT, and Leonard Pope! And we chose who! dude i cant take this! Quote
cincy9275 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 hosbon is saying he could be levi's replacement . Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Hey by the way this draft is going...Simpson, Watson, and Pope could all be there when we pick, and they could fall into Day 2. Quote
DC_Bengals_Fan Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Loved this from Hobson:"The Bengals must believe they can get a tight end with their next pick, the 55th in the second round. They passed on UCLA's Marcedes Lewis and Jacksonville took him four spots later at No. 28."You'd think....or maybe they plan on switching to the run-n-shoot? Who needs a TE? Quote
