Why the great start for the Reds???

When you look in the paper or watch the sports on the old tube you may ask yourself? Dang whats got into the Reds? We as fans know. But for someone else they wouldnt probley notice that we have a core of new players that have been leading us to new areas we havnt seen in awhile. I know its early, everyone keeps telling me that "BUT" 15 -7 record is a very good start and with first place HOUSTON coming to town its time to show to rest of the baseball world that theres a new power in the NL central!!!!

But to get back to the topic (you have to let me rant a little), where do you start, I say with the player we got for the popular WILY MO PENA thats Bronson Arroyo. OH MAN HE IS JUST 4-0 with a 2.34 ERA.(plus 2 hrs) and then there is Brandon Phillips (this weeks NL player of the week) he is just took over as the 2b job we all thought that the vet. Tony Womack had locked down. Then lets not forget David Ross who has hit for a .280 avg. with 3 homers and Scott Hatteburg who is hitting .294 and playing very steady 1b for are Redlegs.

So there you have it Reds fans with moves like this I think are new owner and GM are making some very good moves and are really trying to put a quailty team on the field for a change. And lets not forget that the MGR. Jerry Narron is doing a great job to. Keep it up REDS keep it UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :sure:

Why the good start???

Wayne Krivsky....I mean he brings in Arroyo, Phillips, Hatteberg, Ross x 2....Such a turn around from O'Brien...

And I think the players are pumped up to play for Castellini. They were so used to Wet Noodle Lindner....

Arroyo and Harang have both looked great, but beyond that we still have a terrible pitching staff... I do think the offense can continue dominating through the course of the season, but with Claussen, Williams, and later Wilson... It could very well be another year of highs then lows. We'll see what we're made of against the Astros this coming series.

Either way, I'll take it while it lasts. :sure:

I think we'll take at least 2 from astros.

We'll probably lose the 1st game and then go on to take the next 3, when our gems come back out to pitch, in arroyo, and harang.

IMO i really think we need to make this the year we go out and make a blockbuster trade for A+ pitcher, like Dontrelle.

IMO were Playoff bound if we have him, maybe even jake peavy( but he's from SD probably wont happen)

Taking a few games from the Astros this weekend will continue to help build confidence. The offense leads the league in runs per game at +6. However, the starting pitching ERA is currently ranked 22nd. Good pitching has been known to stifle good hitting. As long as Harang and Arroyo continue to eat up innings and win games, avoid the injury bug, the rest of the starting pitchers improve, and the Reds are still in or near the divison lead in August, then start thinking playoffs. Yes, I will take the early lead for now, but I want to see how the rest of the season plays out before I declare that there is a new NL Central Power.

I really hope the Reds can take 2 of 3 from the Astros. But I have my doubts, especially about tommorrow night's game. With Roy Oswalt on the mound the Reds may be hard pressed to win that game. Oswalt is lifetime 15-0 vs the Reds in 19 games.

This is an important stretch for the Reds to show they belong, because after the Astros come to town, the Cards are right behind them

Hey guys I AGREE, we do need another pitcher a 1 or 2 would be nice and im sure the are checking on it. But Dang I forgot to mention a player and most of you did to thats doing well is Austin Kerns. Heck I just wrote him off. I was saying that great rookie year he had a few years back was beginning to look like a fluke, but now that he is healthy he is producing really well. Keep it up Reds!!! Can you say WhoDey for the REDS??? :read: I will resheach that info....

I'm shocked about this new edition of the Reds. Stunned even! If this holds after the All Star break, I'll move on to bewildered and flabbergasted!

All I can say is good riddence to the bean counting, tea totaler, and bananna king Carl Lindner, and kudo's to the new owners and management! :sure: Keep up the good work!
