HebertTue, 18 Apr 2006 05:22:26 -0700Jim Bender, of the Winnipeg Sun, reports the Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars are going to work out CFL free agent LB Kyries Hebert. He had been indicted on charges stemming from a domestic dispute in a Houston, Texas suburb, but he agreed to a plea bargain, which reduced his charges to two misdemeanors and no felony record. Agent J.R. Rickert said Hebert has other NFL workouts and that Hebert could also wind up back in the CFL. Hebert spent time in training camp with the Minnesota Vikings in 2002 and the Houston Texans in 2003.Some background...Personal:Birthplace: Eunice, Louisiana, USA.-Played with the Louisiana - Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns from 1999 - 2001. He was moved to safety from receiver following fall drills in 1999.-Hebert participated in every game during his three-year career, and led the team in tackles in each one. He was named second-team all-conference following his senior season.-Recorded a 20-tackle game against Minnesota in 2001, the second highest total by a defensive back in team history. -Undrafted, Hebert signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in April of 2002 and attended their training camp, but was released in early September of that year.-Signed to the Houston Texans' practice squad in December 2002 and attended their camp the following year, but was again released.-Signed by Ottawa as a free agent in March 2004. -In his rookie season, Hebert contributed 56 defensive tackles and a team-leading 27 tackles on special teams over the course of 16 regular season games. He also had two interceptions and a blocked punt.-Had a breakout season in 2005 in leading the team in both defensive and special teams tackles (66 and 29 respectively). Wife beater huh ??Definite character issue...but I didn't run across any other reports of acting like a jacka$$ in a brief web search so I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt for now.Can't see the guy making it at LB in the NFL. Hebert was about "an hour away" from signing with an undisclosed NFL team, according to his agent. Colts | Team had shown interest in K.
