kingwilly
Per KFFL.comBengals | Police and courts: C. HenryFri, 7 Apr 2006 06:12:18 -0700Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports a not-guilty plea was entered for Cincinnati Bengals WR Chris Henry on his remaining charge of illegal possession of a concealed firearm, stemming from an arrest Jan. 28 in Orlando, Fla. Henry faced an arraignment Thursday, April 6. A judge could set a trial date. Henry is expected to receive probation.__________Just my opinion but I think if Henry gets probation, he will still face a suspension from the NFL/bengal ranging from 4-16 games....and he would deserve it. All this did was posssibly save Cheech's cornhole.
ArmyBengal
I still say you gotta give the kid another chance after all this is said and done. Youngsters make mistakes regardless of how much you make and his upside is HUGE !!! I for one would love to see this kid mature and seeing him playing opposite Chad in the pro-bowl... That's after we've won the super bowl that year of course.... WHODEY !!!
Stripes
Starting to look like he'll still be a Bengal. That's a relief, as I didn't want to lose a player of his (potential) caliber. I have a feeling any NFL suspsension will be relatively short as well, in the 4-6 game range. Still his first offense, and I don't even know if they formerly tested him. derekshank
I don't think there is any precident for a 16 game suspension because of a gun charge. The only NFL rule he broke was the substance abuse policy... and they might take into consideration that Lewis already held him out for one game. The NFL doesn't penalize guys for breaking laws of the land... just laws of the NFL, otherwise, Jamal Lewis would have been suspended for the entire season, because he actually went to jail. Henry will serve no more than a 4 game suspension... if that. The real issue is him really staying out of jail... not a NFL suspension. If he stays out of jail, our WR's are back and better than ever by the bye week.
Bobcat Bengal
Y'know, here's a funny story (or not)I remember during X-Mas time, I was at Cardboard Heroes in the mall.I saw the new Alternate White and Black jerseys that are hot sellers.I grabbed a Orange Odie Jersey and some guy grabbed a black Alt. Henry Jersey.I seriously doubt you can find those anywhere anymore.I wonder how much they're going for on EBay.....

bwillycuse
If Henry gets only probation, (lets hope) - then he will not be suspended. Unless we dont know about any prior violations with the league. I, for one, am excited to have the kid back. Lets remember he is a kid. These actions and consequences can only help him to mature and be a man. And we all know he will be a man on the field. Lets keep him on ours. Well, I did a lot of dumb things when I was young, so maybe your golly gee Beaver childhood really worked for you. Something tells me Henry wasn't raised the same as you or I (I'm guessing)... This is not to say someone from his background should get more of a chance (certainly don't want to change the thread here), but I'm just saying he deserves a chance for nothing more than his dumb youth getting the best of him.The things I did could have landed my monkeyass in jail, but I didn't get caught... lando griffin
Carson seemed to have good things to say about him during his press conference--that Henry was in the Bengals facilities a couple weeks before he had to be and was truly sorry about what he did. Of course, he's not going to say anything bad, but he could have had no comment.
Spor_tees
If I hear another "He is just a kid" excuse I am going tohurl all over my apartment like I just drank a whole bottle of that Epecac. The guy is 22 years old soon to be 23. A "KID" is a 12 year old. I bet you could go out on the street and ask any 12 years old right now, and 95% would say it isn't right to point a loaded gun at a group of people. Now you explain to me how it is a "mistake" for a 22 year old who is in the NFL making TONS of money, and just got caught with weed, to be in Florida, wearing his Bengals jersey, getting in an argument with a group of people, points a loaded gun with a clip full of armor piercing bullets that is topped off with a first bullet that is just a warning shot, then when confronted by police throws the gun in the Limo he is riding in instead of dropping it like he was told? Now you tell me how that is a "mistake"? That sounds like a habitiual offender that is not ever going to change and will continue to pull dumb stunts like this as long as football fans enable him to do so. I worked in the prison system and saw enough guys with this type of behavior to know what a mistake is, and what an idiot is. This guy is an idiot, and it doesn't matter how high he can jump, how fast he can run, or how well he can catch a football...he is an idiot and I hope he goes to jail. I for one know if it was myself that did what he did, I wouldn't be writing this post right now, I'd be sitting in a 6x6 eating cold noodles, and sitting with my back against the wall. So enough of the freaking "mistake" bit! I guess Dwight Gooden just made a mistake too...for the umpteenth time, and I guess Stanley Wilson just made a mistake...ohhh yeah he is still in jail! The_Next_Big_Thing
If Carson wants him on the team, I'll keep my mouth shut. But in my opinion his agent/lawyer, the judge, the state's attorney, and everyone involved is doing him a diservice by not making him sit in a jail for a while. He's not going to learn anything but "I'm in the NFL, I can get away with it" from this. It's a diservice to him.

Dude, relax a minute... Is he an idiot ?? Sure he is... However, there is a difference in maturity levels by all people. I'm sure there are more than a handful of people on this board that are 30 or 40 something "kids" that do dumb sh*t still to the day. Do they pull guns ?? Doubtful, but dumb sh*t, is dumb sh*t !!!I've never said he shouldn't have to take repsonsibility for his actions, just that he should be given another opportunity. To compare a 20 something "kid" (because that's how I see a 22 year old) to a 12 year old is rediculous at best. That 12 year old doesn't "know" better, he's just to d*mn scared to f*ck up half the time... Once again, not making excuses for the "kid", just stating I hope he gets another chance, just like everyone should be given when they step on it. If you think he should be locked away for jumping on his d*ck, that is your opinion and we will agree to disagree, but it sounds stereotypical...WHODEY !!! Spor_tees
For some of you guys that think he deserves a second chance...if you had a kid, and you asked him who his favorite Bengals was, and he said Chris Henry, then you asked him why...What would you do if your kid said "Cause he is a THUG! He doesn't take crap from anyone! He'll pull a piece on you in a minute!"or"Cause he is like Randy Moss...he gets down with the CHRONIC!"Some of you guys need to quit looking at this as a Bengal fan's perspective and more as a member of society. I don't care if the guy can score 20 TD's a year, if one of those people he pulled that gun on was my kid, I'd hope they threw the book at him harder than a Randy Johnson fastball. Wrong is wrong!A "mistake" is a kid shoplifting a pack of gum or trying weed cause his friends pressured him to do it. Carrying an unregistered loaded firearm loaded with armor peircing bullets and pointing it at a crowd of people is premeditated. That is NOT a mistake. ShulaSteakhouse
If found guilty of most or any of the gun charges I can't imagine him not being suspended, by the team or the league. Cmon.Just about all of us would be fired from our jobs for what he did, if you are in a professional role of any kind. You don't wave around a gun in public, that's stolen to boot, and disobey a cop, and only get sent to a substance abuse program. I don't know but I assume he did all of that, a lot of people had to witness it.A problem with this country is it's too lenient about gun crimes. If you're carrying a stolen, loaded gun in public, illegally ecspecially, and waving it around, your ass should be put in jail...PERIOD. You are a menace to society and could kill someone. There should be NO tolerance for that kind of crap anymore.Amazing that people just look past it as if it's no big deal, and he should be back next year with no problem. He should be in a cell for six months. Some times that does wake people up.I suppose he'll buy his way out of it. I'm glad he didn't hurt anyone, so I can forgive him certainly as a fan if he straightens himself out. But as a public figure ecspecially, he should not get slapped on the wrist if he's guilty.Everyone thinks their Scarface these days I guess. ArmyBengal
ONCE AGAIN... No one is saying he didn't f*ck up or that he shouldn't be held accountable for his actions... Most are saying he deserves another chance, just like you hope someone would give your kid if they f*cked up. If he steps on his d*ck again, then yes, hammer his asspiece to the wall, but until then, hope he turns himself around. Wouldn't it be better if the team was the reason this kid turns himself around as opposed to seeing him rot in jail, never to improve himself as a person.Yes, we see it from a fans perspective, but at the same time, all want him to be held accountable. No one is saying they want nothing to happen to his dumbass.Kids will be kids and say some crazy things... What if YOUR kid told you he likes prison guards because they can beat up the prisoners when people don't watch ??? I guess that would make you happy ??WHODEY !!!
