B24
A bit early for this, but here's a link for CBS Sportsline's NFL power rankings. Got the Bengals at 15th.http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9357254
ArmyBengal
OK, I get the no Carson early = #15, but how in the hell is Miami ranked 5th ?? Culpepper is coming back off a worse injury than Carson, regardless of rehab time. I think the Patriots are going to be worse off this year as well...WHODEY !!! AMC
Well the same power rankings this time last year had the Vikes and Raiders in the Top 5. Go figure.
duus
Remember this comment when you are considering everything next December ...Final Standings of AFC North 2006Cincinnati 11-5 (4-2 in division)Baltimore 9-7 (4-2 in division)Pittsburgh 9-7 (3-3 in division) Cleveland 8-8 (1-5 in division)How in the world would the Steelers 'fall' to 9-7? Simple ... they weren't that much better last year, and ... look it up ... EVERY YEAR that much is expected of the Steelers, they fall lower. It's when NOTHING is expected of them (i.e. barely making the playoffs last year) that they surprise everyone. You heard it here. The Steelers will not even make the playoffs in '06. Better yet, Bengals get the number 2 seed, right behind Indy, who folks are discounting because of the loss of James ... ain't gonna happen.Who Dey! ArmyBengal
One, no I don't think the loss of Edge in Indy is going to be that huge. They will have to figure it out, but they will be alright. Next, as much as I absolutely loath the f*cking Steelers, they very well might have won the Division had Rottenfurberger not gotten hurt and Maddox and Batch looked like a couple of "Dee de dee's" losing games for them. The Steelers will be right back there again this upcoming season, so don't get the bighead just yet.Sorry for the Mencia plug there, if it offends anyone...WHODEY !!! Pandre
Our schedule looks tough this year and you know what I really like the idea of it being tough. A lot of the teams we play this year are high on this list. I mean it goes back to the old saying "To be the Man you've got to beat the Man". The teams we play this year are tough and I think that if this team is going to succeed this year they are going to have to look at every week as a play off game and come off with crazy intensity. I do not know about you but if the Steelers come in and humiliate us on prime time television (OH and it will be prime time game). I might kick my tv in and start watching the CFL. duus
so don't get the bighead just yet.No big head here ... just a true gut feeling. They got their championship. No doubt Rottenburger is the deal, but I just have the feeling that two years of only a couple losses is about to end. He will get the losses under his belt this year. Hey, Kimo isn't there for Cowher to convince to go in low, and the Burgh native ref is no longer in the back of the end zone to throw that flag. New year ... new outcome. Times are changin' ... it's like color t.v.
Stripes
I think the Steelers will still be very much in the thick of things in 2006. They are the favorites to win the AFC North because of what they did in the postseason and (much more importantly) the uncertain status of Carson Palmer. As we've been saying all along, everything hinges on him. If he comes back at 100% for week one, then I think we'll run away with the division. If not, enjoy your playoff berth, Pittsburgh. I do think we're deserving of a power ranking spot higher than 15th though.
Shane Falco
I don't totally disagree with thse rankings, but there are a few flaws. The Bengals at 15 is a bit of a surprise but we do rely on CP to generate our offense. I mean look at what happened when Kitna had to take over, we lost. I just had reconstructive knee surgery upon tearing my ACL and my MCL while playing basketball. I honestly don't see CP back for the first game. I'm still in the process of fully recovering, but it definitly took longer than i expected. I know he has more frequent appointments then I do, but I just don't see him being back for the first game. With that in mind, WHY THE HELL HAVEN'T WE SIGNED A QB. Watch out for the the Arizona Cardinals and the Lions to move up in the Power Rankings. The lions have gotten rid of Joey Harrington, which is brilliant move. The Cardinals have added Edge which is huge and they still have all the young fire-power on offense. Watch out for them. What is up with Jacksonville being so high?! Leftwhich is overrated. This team will drop and not make the playoffs. Whur CHad At?
I doubt the Cards will move up...simply because they have a s**tty O-line, but they will improve. The Lions are in complete dissaray, and I see them getting worse this year. Thats just my two cents
ArmyBengal
The Lions will be going nowhere but down, they suck and that team is in complete shambles form the top down. THEY SUCK BALLS !!!WHODEY !!!

Whur CHad At?
The Lions ought to have a special name for themselves because they are so pathetic. I fully expect their dumb, incompotent GM to draft a WR, or QB within the first three rounds of the draft.

I blame the Lions ownership as much as Millen for allowing this idiocy to continue. I think they will have the #1 pick in the 2007 draft. WhiteDawg
Hi everyone, I'm new here, but been a Bengal fan all my 21 years of exsistence...Born and Raised in the Nasti Nati... Lets not look to into this. It is early April and they always seem to screw preseason rankings up. Furthermore, I would not drink the Arizona "Kool Aid" like all those guys on sportscenter did last year. We'll get to see just how good Edge is. My prediction is he tops out at 900 yards and 7 touchdowns. I still doubt that Carson will be 100% ready for the first few games..Remember championships aren't won in September, I'll take a few early losses to have him at full strength coming down the stretch when the games really matter (I know all games matter but I'm saying from the end of October on). I know that CP is the man in Cincy but we have to have some faith in our team.

I agree that it'll be nice to have Carson back down the stretch when we need him most (assuming he does play at all in 2006). Still, those few games we may lose early in the season without him could very well be the difference between playoffs and no playoffs in an AFC that is looking as tough as it ever has. However, that does not deminsh the fact that you are fan. Welcome. I must disagree with your assessment of Edge getting only 900 yards and 7 TD's with the Cards. He will have more then that and the Cards will be a contender for a wild card spot. I don''t think they will contend for the division, but they will make some noise. They still have issues else where including the QB position as I think Warner is not what he used to be. He should be retiring soon as he is know a has been. But I do agree with you as for as us not looking at the pre-draft power rankings. It is just nonsence. Why bother. But you know how the sports media likes to put thier two cents in thinking they know more the us. We all know they don't. They are just trying to satify their ego. WhiteDawg
Ok I understand that AFC is going to be tough like it always is but I really don't see the AFC North being all that great for atleast another year. It's obvious that the Steelers are going to be great once again. The Ravens I still feel are lost and they have a worse qb than we have at backup. The Browns are doing some great things (although Willie McG is approaching the end of his career) but it still will take time for all those parts to gel. I still feel it is between the Steelers and Bengals....which nobody probably disagrees about.
ArmyBengal
Welcome to the Zone !!! The AFC North is going to be dominant in a couple more years. Crennel will get the Browns to more than respectable just like Marvin did for us and the Bengals and Steelers aren't going anywhere !!! F*CK the Ravens !!!WHODEY !!! redsbengalsbucks
The Squeelers have an overrated QB, a depleted WR corp, a depleted RB stable and an aging Defense. No way they are the best team in the NFL, hell they were not even the best team last season they just strung together 6 good games at the end when it counts the most. derekshank
Who cares. Team rosters aren't finalized, The draft hasn't occured yet... and there are still big name free agents out there. The point is.... power rankings in early april are useful for one thing. Toilet paper.I didn't even look at it, so I'm not saying that because I'm pissed about where the Bengals rank, or anyone else. It simply doesn't matter yet.
