Hoping we draft Jason Allen? Physical Issues

Recommended Posts

I was able to watch this guy a few times at UT and he's going to be an absolute stud. His injury has dropped him to about where we'll be picking. I think he's exactly what Marvin looks for in a CB. He's 6'1" 210 and runs the 40 in the 4.3's. I see him starting over Tory by the end of the year if we sign him. He can also play safety, so you've got to love the versatility he would bring. If he's their when we pick I'd be suprised if we didn't take him. I'd much rather have him over Pope.

I'd rather have Cromartie or Whitner than Allen, but I wouldn't be upset by this pick. I'm not as worried about his injury woes as I would be with Cromartie (but less excited about his contributions than the same player) and it's hard to look past his efforts at the combine.

Were it not for his injury history, i would be pimping Jason Allen and no other player at 24.

But he does have the history, so I think he's too risky a pick at 24. If he falls to 55, I will be thrilled to no end

If Allen falls to 55, I'll eat my boxers and I went running this morning !!! :puke:

WHODEY !!!

I'll be sure to remind you about this one on the evening of April 29th, AB :-)

Keep those shorts handy, don't wash them, and I'll send over a bottle of bbq sauce

Well, at least it would keep me on my high fiber diet !!! :D

WHODEY !!!

As they say in the Braniff commercial "that yellow snow is NOT Lemon flavor."

Dude -- "That brown stain is NOT chocolate." :D:lmao::rolleyes:

Maybe if I hold my nose and close my eyes, I won't be able to tell the difference ?!?!?!

Then again, I just may have to----> :puke:

According to Robinson on Yahoo today:

Jason Allen, S/CB, Tennessee – He's fluid and fast, but his future still seems to be at safety. His ballistic numbers at the combine put to rest the short-term fears about his surgically repaired hip. Scouts say: His injured hip has tested out with about 85 percent of the strength of his healthy one, and it could be an issue as his career progresses.

That 85% worries me - hips have a tendency to degenerate about as fast as Bengalzone Message Threads.

Good info THANKS.

I wonder whether or not Jason Allen's hip is had time to recover its full strength. If the hip is NOT regaining its strength, then I too would worry. I'm still hopeful that we are only glimpsing at a player who is on his way back and hasn't fully recovered yet.

His workout numbers are even more impressive when we consider his hip is not at full strength.

I'm not an ortho-pod, but I'm not sure ANYBODY can more than guess the future ramifications of his hip. The question is = Do you use the 24th pick (6 years, $25M) on someone who MAY only last 2 - 3 years? I think Allen is destined for the top of the 2nd round.

I agree -- that is a big concern.

BUT, I still remember similar arguments/concerns when Anthony Munoz came out with his history of knee surgeries.

The difference that you point out is that in this case its the "hip", not a knee. So, Cromartie may have an edge in the confidence level regarding the recovery from his injury.
