HoosierCat
More to consider: forget strength of schedule, what's more important IMHO is divisional schedule differences. Look at Pitt's sked:http://www.nfl.com/teams/schedule/PITOnly team differences are that we get Indy and NE, they get Miami and Jax. Indy is the toughest, easily, but NE, Miami and Jax are about on par, IMHO. Miami and Jax might even prove tougher this coming season. We get SD, Oakland, Carolina, and Atlanta at home. Those are all road games for Pitt.I like our sked better than theirs, frankly.Baltimore:http://www.nfl.com/teams/schedule/BALThey get the same home/away splits as us. Their two off-games are Tennessee and Buffalo. Like ours their sked is pretty free of "stretches o' doom," tho the get SD, Denver and Carolina in a row, and later on Atlanta, Pitt, Cincy and KC in a row.Cleveland:http://www.nfl.com/teams/schedule/CLEOuch. They drew the Steelers home/away splits, so they have to go into Carolina and Oakland and SD and Atlanta. Off-teams are Houston and the Jets. And you want to talk about a brutal season layout: week 2 they come to PBS, then go home to host Balti, then fly to the West Coast to play Oakland, then back to the East Coast to Carolina, before their bye. Then starting in week 9 they get SD and Atlanta on the road, Pitt, us, and KC in a 3-week homestand, then travel to Pitt and Balti before coming home to host Tampa. Oooof.Of the four teams in the division, I like our sked the best, followed by Baltimore's. Pitt's is third and the Clowns got shafted. derekshank
The schedule looks brutal now... but everyone thought that Baltimore was a superbowl contender last year... and just wasn't. 2 years ago, everyone had San Diego as the worst team in the league, and they went 11-5. You just never know. They haven't even drafted yet... and even after they do, it's still way too early to tell what the difficulty will be. Pittsburgh for instance... lost several defensive pieces, Bettis and Randel El. Even if they manage to fill most of those holes with the draft... who knows how good the rookies will be? I sure don't. Only time will tell if the Steelers will be a great team, or have a disappointing season. The only thing I can really tell for sure is that we got a break with the bye week. Most people were already thinking we were going to be without Carson for the first 4 games. Assuming that's the case... he'll have 6 weeks instead of 5 to prepare for the 5th game. I think they gave us a good bye week considering our situation.
ArmyBengal
I would still have rather have a New Orleans up front, but everything is relative at this point. Maybe a Steelers team earlier is a good thing. I don't know...WHODEY !!!
Stripes
As fortunate as we were to receive an early bye week, we were equally unfortunate to have the week 3 game at Pittsburgh. I know they're a different team and so are we, but I still see no chance at beating our current rivals without Carson. I really want to sweep them, and with Carson I think we can. MacD BengalFan
Did anyone notice that the Bengals get only 1 Monday Night game while Dallas, Green Bay and Oakland got 2? If I am not mistaken, only the Bengals made the Playoffs last season as a Division Winner and not the previously mentioned. Typical lack of respect for the Bengals by the networks. They win the division, and only get 1 Monday night game while non-playoff teams get more. However, I like the match-up for that game. I guess the only way for the Bengals to more Monday Night games is to win 3 consecutive Super Bowls and nothing less. And we all know that has never happened. Yes, they did get 1 other prime-time game, but can anyone call it special since it is on a network that only 1/3rd of the country gets. Not me.As far as the schedule is concerned, it is a tough one. The only thing I can say is I hope Carson is ready when they go into the by-week. If he is not, yikes!!! It could be a long depressing season. Yes, but on the other hand, Marvin is NOT a big fan of the prime time games, as he said they throw the team out of their rhythm. This is not a big issue for the team, I'm sure...WHODEY !!! schweinhart
I like the opener -- KC away. It's a great op for Marvin to get the defense hopped for the start of the season and should set the tone for whether or not he's got another dud defense or the makings of a unit that can keep the team in games and the playoff picture until Carson gets back.Bring on Larry Johnson. Let's see who wants to play the run this time.

I wouldn't trade our schedule for Pittsburgh's period. Not the West coast trips, the southern trips, not IND, NE versus MIA and JAX.
