Georgia again?? How about FSU??

Recommended Posts

Will the Bengals go with 2 players from the same school on the 1st day again??

If its Georgia it could be Leonard Pope and Demario Minter or Greg Blue.

How about Florida State?? Broderick Bunkley, Antonio Cromartie, Kamerion Wimbley, Ernie Sims.

I'm starting to see a lot of upside to Cromartie, the same as most of the NFL scouts. His Pro Day was exceptional.

Antonio Cromartie DB: Cromartie (6-2¼, 203) ran 4.39 and 4.37 in the 40, 3.89 in the short shuttle and 7.02 in the three-cone drill. He also had a 42-inch vertical jump. With his performance, he likely moved up into the first round.

He definitely has the size the Bengals look for, and the speed to be great in coverage, not to mention he would be hard to out-jump with a 42 inch vertical.

Any other programs out there that the Bengals could raid??

Tho not at the top of the draft, Terna Nande and Josh Betts of Miami OH would look good in stripes. Nance might be on the radar as well.

Much has been made of several OSU players who some would like to see come here, such as Hawk (yeah right) Carpenter, Whitner, Holmes.

Miami FLA also has several players who we could select, my favorite (for the value versus need) being CB Marcus Maxey in the later rounds

I think the top candidate for a school that will produce multiple Bengals is once again Georgia. We could end up with Pope, Blue, Minter, Gilles, or even Shockley. I could also see it happening with Ohio State, either Miami, or Florida State as you guys mentioned. We could also end up with another pair of relatively unkown players on either line, like we did last year with Ghiaciuc and Kieft both from Central Michigan.

OSU is definitely a possiblity considering that they have DL and OL that have hit the Bengals radar. I suspect that Carpenter may go late in the first and that the Bengals would snatch up Whitner if he's available at #24, but there are still some players like C Nick Mangold, DE and Combine strongman Mike Kudla that could end up in Stripes.

I am with TJ on Nande and Betts in stripes. Although, I don't think their 40 times were great, so It shocks me that you would be intrested in them. :)

QB is not a position where speed is as much of a premium. It's good to have, certainly, but not a necessity. Betts has a solid build, strong arm, smarts, leadership qualities, good intangibles...all good stuff. and a 4.7 40 is not bad for a qb, not at all.

Terna timed at 4.51, which is real real real good for a LB. This in addition to his considerable strength

They've been calling Whitner a poor man's Polamalu.

I'd be all for grabbing him with the 24th pick.

I would think the only reason they would call him a poor man's Polamalu is that he might not hit as hard. The guy has tremendous speed and a nose for the ball.

Yeah, and even then, I think that his hitting is pretty good.

I've been hearing rumors that the Cowboys might snag Whitner.

IMO, I'd be estatic if we got either Cromartie or Whitner.

I know, I know, a lotta you all would be furious that yet another 1st round draft pick got minimal playing time, but look at it this way....

Coach Lewis and staff were enamored with O'Neal's physical abilities.

Coach Coyle drilled him on his technique, and now look at him.

Cromartie wouldn't supplant either James or O'Neal if we drafted him anyway, and maybe he'd see time at Nickel.

In the meantime, Coach Coyle would be coaching him up like crazy, refining his technique and all.

I would like to see a Secondary player (the ones I mentioned) in the first round, then TE or Pass Rusher in subsequent rounds....

I would love to see it go like this:

1. DB - Cromartie, Whitner, or Bullocks

2. TE - Klopfenstein, Byrd, Fasano

3. DL - Adeyanju, Dvoracek, Babatunde Oshinowo

There are some obvious players missing from this list, some I left out because I don't think they'll be around in the later part of the second or third round and I think they should draft the positions in that order DB, TE ,DL.

I agree mostly with your picks, mainly Cromartie/Whitner and then Klopfenstein/Fasano. But I hear Joe can't block worth a damn, so it might be Fasano. Productive and smart player who knows his assignments and is tough.

I dunno if the Bengals will reach for Bullocks in the first, however.

Third round is anyones guess, but I'm against drafting Dvoracek, too many character issues from what I understand.
