Bengalbob
The rumor floating amongst Squeeler fans is that the Pats are going to make a play for Taylor. Now that would be awesome!!! Boy would they be boiling if they lost a starting CB to the Pats!!!

Boy would they be boiling if they lost a starting CB to the Pats!!!They've certainly lost more this offseason than they've gained. It'd be a pleasure indeed to see them lose their only answer for Chad Johnson! So long as it isn't us taking him and giving up a bunch... It's the double coverage schemes using the remarkable safeties.
Kazkal
"3) gaining inside knowlege of the Pittsburgh defensive scheme"I think we have that somewhat with just having marvin
Spain
Wouldnt be a player that we would have to give up a 3rd or below.
HoTbOy
The Squeeler fans I work with are scared sh*tless that he is gonna leave, so I hope he does just not to Cincy, I would love for the Pats to take him...ITaylor is a good CB, but we need a DT as everyone knows...I like the idea of hurting a division rival while getting stronger, but i don't want anything from them...to me ITaylor and the rest of the Squeelers are the enemy and I don't want to sleep with my enemy.... semiotter
But is 1) gaining Ike Taylor plus 2) the subtraction of a quality young corner from the defensive capability of the Steelers plus3) gaining inside knowlege of the Pittsburgh defensive schemeworth a late (24) first round pick?1)yes2)yes3) hell yes
CBin2k7
It doesn't matter if we have Ike Taylor, Ike Turner, or Mike and Ike playing cornerback. If the Bengals don't generate a pass rush, Taylor is going to look at lot like the Artrell Hawkins. Good CB play starts with the pass rush, no matter how good a CB is he will not be able to cover a WR all day, a WR will get open.
Dirk Funk
Troy Polamalu is the sole reason Ike Taylor is even considered a good CB. Imagine a player like Deltha Oneil playing corner on a squad with Polamalu. Ike is a fake.

TJJackson
Odd how the rest of the NFL seems to feel he is an up and coming above average young corner with stardom on his horizon

kingwilly
Ike is above average but not worth a r1 pick....no.Ike's moderate success has as much to do with the safety play and pass rush as it does his own ability. I think he lacks the ball awareness that other/better corners have. I also think he does NOT have the speed as suggested here..he needs safety support more often than not.Gaining knowledge into the Pitt scheme by gaining a player is not that effective in this case. They have all the film, LeBeau was a coach here, Marvin worked with both Lebeau and Cowher...gaining Ike for the sake of getting inside the LeBeau D isn't going to reveal their secret password or handshake.Part of what would worry me about possibly doing a deal for Ike is that Pitt would be gaining a r1 pick. Given their needs, drafting at r1-24 and r1-32 means they now gain access to two talented players...I'd prefer that not to happen.

How jacked up is that? Win the Superbowl and get compensatory picks?? Yeah, that's a big bowl of dog crap. I don't care how much they've lost this offseason, they just won the freaking Superbowl. We aren't deserving of compensatory picks either, after just having made the playoffs... That said, the Steelers sure as hell shouldn't even be getting one... much less FOUR. Yet still you have teams overpaying for Denver's 6th-round RBs.I think you could make a similar case for "whoever the hell plays in front of Troy Polamalu" as well. In other words, Plaxico played damned well. Pittsburgh gets a high pick....
