ShulaSteakhouse
Wright's ok if it's a short term thing, he has his moments and can make a big play or two, and can throw the ball...if it comes to that. But I just hate rooting for a guy who was in a Ravens' uni not too long ago. Just ain't right.I could not stomach Maddox. Not too keen on Krenzel. Not much else left...I still feel the same way. I was impressed with Wright at times lately, did well despite having no one to throw to.Wright does have an arm, I think he's the type who can win games if the defense does well and Wright doesn't make Kitna mistakes. With the running game here, you just need someone who's competent and can make some plays, without shooting themselves in the foot constantly. That is why I don't like Krenzel at this level, he throws a decent moon ball once in a while, but can't make the other throws to keep drives alive.Wright can, and he's not as bad as people think. He's just played on bad teams/offenses in tough situations. It will be interesting to see what he does with some talent around him everywhere. That said, not making more of him that what he is, but I think he can win games in the NFL - he already has to an extent.I'm thinking the asking price for Martin was too high, when you could get a comparable veteran like Wright for nothing. Kazkal
I would have took martin till he started thinking he was worth more then a league min just because dolphins and bengals were both intrested glad we dropped out race so he can't use us too sign with the dolphins

walshfan
the man has fumbled 21 times in 24 games.. that in itself is scary..add the ints to it and he's turned it over 46 times in 24 games...

Wright's never started more than 7 games in a season, and has only started in 20 something in his career. His stats aren't pretty, but considering the teams he played on, not sure whose would've been. Not touting him here, but there's honestly a bit of an unknown/upside factor, if Zampese can force him to make better decisions and play like he did in 2003. Kazkal
I don't think a rookie QB will help us more than the two (Krenzel and Johnson) we already have on the roster.I think we need a veteran.Right now, I think Wright would be the best choice of those QBs remaining in FA, as he does have some starting experience, a live arm, knowlege of all three of our division opponents, and has won some games. Martin would be my second choice.hey everyone wanna argue how crappy QB's win games like martin orton came and just won for the bears hes like the best rookie QB sense the mighty big benI say forget about Wright and just sign Martin. He's the only backup right now that doesn't think they are a potential starter. We could sign him for a year, then he can retire.I'm preatty sure wright doesn't think hes a starter

Spain
The real ?, is what does this say about Palmer starting the first game if no one else would sign here?
ArmyBengal
The real ?, is what does this say about Palmer starting the first game if no one else would sign here? I don't think it says anything about Carson, only the fact we want to have another body in here taking snaps and learning as quickly as possible "IF" he has to, but I'm thinking the QB camp should be an interesting one.Ok, who's going to win the QB derby at camp to be the #2 QB, #3 QB, and who gets the axe ???I'm going with Krentzel and Wright in either position... Buh bye Johnson !!!WHODEY !!!
The_Next_Big_Thing
Wright's not any worse than Kitna as a backup. Once again, anyone we sign is just an extra arm for minicamps and an emergency QB.
HoTbOy
Must say that I am glad this is over, and we can draft best available player besides a WR... I like the pick because of the experience and he knows the division...he has a good arm and getting all the reps in training camp is nothing but good...i like what the Bengals have done so far this year...i saw a piece on JWilliams the other night on NFL Network and i would love to get him at 24, he is big and fast... derekshank
Talked to a non-Bengal fan today, and asked him what he thought. He's a Colts fan... so he has no reason to be biased, and he said he liked the move a lot. He had asked me a couple weeks ago if the Bengals were going to sign Harrington, and I said that was what I was hoping for.So today I told him that we had signed Wright, and I rolled my eyes in disgust. His response was something along the lines of:"Hey, Wright is not that bad. He'll do a lot better in Cincy than in Baltimore. I like that move a lot more than Harrington. All he has to do is go 2-2, and Palmer will take to you to the playoffs again. Honestly, with what is left in free agency, that was probably the best move the Bengals could make."Interesting insight coming from a unbiased observer. He is higher on Wright that I am honestly... but it's nice to hear it from someone that I can't yell "HOMER!!!" at.
ArmyBengal
Yeah, I get ya Derek... I had a conversation today with a Saints and Cowboys fan today and when I mentioned we had signed Wright, they said, "As a QB??" and then laughed. It pissed me off a bit, because they ARE Saints and Cowboys fans, but it is what it is. Everyone has an opinion...WHODEY !!!
Stripes
It pissed me off a bit, because they ARE Saints and Cowboys fans, but it is what it is. Everyone has an opinion... Especially ironic considering the guy that has been under center for New Orleans for the last few seasons.
